Someone may have already said this, but that diesel locomotive was used for moving equipment in the field when they didn't want the smoke from the coal locomotives to give away their positions, it would go GREAT with your Dora, they used two of them to move it along the tracks as and after assembling. Sorry if this is a repeat, I wanted to post the info but didn't have time to read through all the comments. Nice stash!
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ron. Yes, I have a couple of photos of the locos moving the Dora. At the moment I'm going to go with the D311 (aka V311) loco which appears in most of the photos. It's the one that Trumpeter have recently released in 1:35 scale. There's no 1:72 scale kit at the moment but there is a 3D printed model I'm going to be using.

The movie in which 2 ISDs crashed Ito each other, was a scene of “Roque One”. The Mon Cal admiral in command of the strike force was inspired to ram a Hammerhead Corellian cruiser into 1 ISD, forcing her to crash-ram into her ISD consort, in the hope of both would be forced to crash into the massive planetary blocking shield station, disabling it, so that the rebel fighters could swarm onto the planet surface to help the strike team which was in the process of stealing the plan of the Death Star. Btw, I enjoyed your video builds and looking forward to every one of your future hobby builds. Keep up the nice work.

Nice stash. I know it's not necessarily the correct locomotive, but do you know if the WR360 will fit on the Dora tracks? I think the Dora tracks are way out of scale. Really wish Hobby Boss would do a 1/72 D311 loco.
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve. I'm not sure about the WR360 - the box is packed away at the moment so I can't check. However, I suspect they are the same width but the Dora rails are definitely way taller for some reason.

B17g was for electronic countermeasures in RAF service most bombers carried window. 100 group used this B17 . Your right about the Lancaster kits had to use strong tape to clamp the fuselage and bomb doors in position. Not really good for a new tool

Thanks for an interesting video. Looks like you're going to need some serious shelf space. I'm surprised you've never heard of the Sea Otter, I knew of this plane way back in the early 60's. -- The German WW2 winter white camouflage was usually applied at the unit or maintenance level, and was a water soluble based paint, and as such it suffered a lot from the elements, rain and snow, so come spring a lot of the normal camouflage was showing, and the aircraft could look quite tatty. This give the modeler a whole lot of license for artistic interpretation. Hope this helps, and thanks again for the video. JtP.

Phew, alright....lots and lots of beaut kits which will keep you busy for some time to come. Totally understand the urge for buying more when they are so tantalisingly reduced in price....and are not in the stash. Obvious that British WW2 bombers are the favourites.
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's a recent thing. Maybe because I feel like I've built most of the major WW2 tanks (although in reality there are loads of versions and variations I haven't built).
@allanrichards37522 жыл бұрын
Well you certainly have a fair stash of models to keep you busy. Also some quite obscure aircraft. As for the Tirpitz check out Ebroin on You Tube. He is making a super detailed 1/350 Tirpitz model and the videos are fascinating. He is a modeler with amazing talents. It would be interesting to see your car model stash. I am presently building an ICM 1/24 Model T Ford. I found the kit very disappointing as it builds like a metal car kit with a flat base. Rather than bin it I decided to scratch build a proper chassis so quite a bit of work but it means one can get weeks of modelling out of it.
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Allan, I will look up Ebroin. Good news - I have made a car stash video already :) It is already uploaded and scheduled to be published 2 weeks today, while I'm travelling :) Good luck with the scratch building - it seems like a lot of hard work but it'll be worth it.

Don´t think that RAF Mustang (Mk I) have Desert Camo - it´s that brown and green. They flew out of gatwick, on the Dieppe Raid and some armed recce missions etc. As far as i know, they were never in the desert, not RAF ones.

I like most areas in general. Military-wise, I prefer WW2, and WW2 RAF for aircraft. But I'm open to lots of different options - sometimes the subject grabs my attention, sometimes the paint scheme, etc.
