Think that maybe this entire story is from the perspective of perhaps a schizophrenic child. The girl getting "tortured" was just another girl with some sort of disability/problem, and the "torture devices" were blood pressure tests or needles for things like a vaccine or medicine. As if this school was the only way they could get her to take her medicine. All of the "mean kids" being sick was just their lousy excuse to ditch. (Them being mean to him would be a common case in the real world, kids with disabilities or diseases getting picked on.) His mom may have left the school because of an emergency situation at home, and she didn't feel like dragging her "depressed" child into a matter that would make things worse. Teachers staying late at night is uncommon but not impossible, especially after a long week with a lot of papers to grade or whatnot.

Enjoyed the fact that the mother believed him and that the protagonist showed some level of intelligence at the beginning of the story....but he crossed the line into idiotically "heroic" by the half way point. Spoiler.... Him not knowing his dad's number was a really bad cop out to end on. Might as well not have written him into the story.

Eh...My mom just fucked over a Montessori School because the board said she and her co workers could report something and they did, the report was about the 'Principal', and then the Principal fired the teachers who signed the report and then a majority of the parent's left the school because of it. Serves em right. Now -- The school isn't out of business yet, but it is chaotic beyond repair right now. They're hiring people who didn't even graduate highschool to take care of infants, they have less than 30 kids left, and none of the remaining teachers have even been there for a year.

My high school had awful food, but the lunch ladies were awesome. They couldn't do much with the garbage the school provided, but they would bring in good meals around holidays and whenever else they could. The head lunch lady, Ms Jill, one time brought in a bunch of turkeys and hams on the day before Thanksgiving break, while the others brought in homemade cranberry sauce, pies, cakes, stuffing, etc. It's kinda sad bc the teachers and lunch ladies have to spend so much of their own money to make the school function

Heh, This is normal, In my school, We have this program called M.A.T.H (Mental Abuse To Humans) This experiment mainly consists of 30 victi-. I mean volunteers that will participate in this program, By leaving us in a room, and giving us strict rules and a test to accomplish, Most of us don't get out alive, Others who are lucky. If you consider them one. Will participate in it, Again and again until they either succeed or fail in the process, The unluckies are left in the room with the test still in progress for whatever morbid curiosity these teachers are tryna look for. How it should end: Whilst at the library I read brooks on how to make homemade bombs, I put the bomb on myself and ran back to school the following day. I made sure the teachers couldn't escape. I busted in the doors to all the class rooms until I found the teachers. "WHERE ARE ALL THE MISSING STUDENTS AND WHERE IS MY MOM?! " The teachers advanced towards me and I swung my jacket open. "I'LL BLOW THIS PLACE TO THE GROUND, LET EVERYONE GO AND GIVE ME BACK MY MOM!" The teachers we're trying to reason with me, talk me out of it, but the more the talked the more disgusted I became. "GIVE ME YOUR PHONES ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING YOU CAN USE TO CALL ANYONE! " The complied and I called the police saying there was a bomb in the school and that the fire department and police officers needed to get here quickly. Moments later the school was full off police officers and firemen. I had them get all the tortured students out of the school, my mom still no where to be found. "We have your mom she was arrested for drug paraphernalia, at a gas station near by." A teacher and policeman said. "So what your saying is that my mom is safe?" I replied in a shaky voice having to come to terms with what I was about to do. "Yes! Your mom is safe. " "Perfect. " I replied I started to act as if I were taking the bomb vest off. People started to slowly come around me ready to take the bomb and myself away. As they got closer I whispered. "Gotcha you fucking animals." Right as they looked at each other about to question what u said u triggered the bomb and threw it into the mass off officials. I shoved one of the teachers out of my way and sprinted as fast as I could out of the nearest door. *KABOOM* The explosion tossed me to the ground, the building went up like a Roman candle. My excuse would've been that I left school and went someplace vacant of other people to meditate and lost track of time. I accidentally cut myself with my knife when I went to lay down in my bed because I was feeling out of it and didn't see it until it was too late. It's believable. I'm open about my daily medative practices and it's very well known that I'm so clumsy that I fall over while standing still. Another excuse would be that I accidentally dropped my scissors while touching up my hair and it cut my arm. I frequently touch up my hair and nobody ever notices when I cut it anyways.
