My Search for PS1 and PS2 Wireless Controllers Is Over??!!

This time on the Game Room. I show you a Wireless PS1 and PS2 controller adapter which allows you to use either a Dual Shock 3 or a Dual Shock 4 with an Original PlayStation or PlayStation 2 console... Yes using the real hardware as opposed to an emulation solution!

I'm getting one of these, but honestly being wireless is a secondary concern to me. It's just that I need a pad that isn't worn out and pretty much all third party ps2 pads are complete trash. Our ps3 pads however are in excellent condition. Unfortunately there just isn't anyone making quality third party ps2 pads. even the popular cipon pads have bad deadzones, and of course, no pressure sensitive buttons.

Now there’s second version of this adapter, it has the same function and had a different look but you can use also Switch Pro controller, PS5 Controller(only wired this moment) and Xbox one (BT Model) for this adapter on PS2. i tried it and it worked, unless it doesn‘t support wired if your Controller is low for the Switch and the xbox controller but only PS3/PS4 support. and second of all, it‘s difficult to think where the buttons are supposed be. i have 2 white PS3 controller to use as a wireless controller and it worked. there a little tiny delay but overall it‘s good. so i think this would be the cheapest way to get a wireless controller to playing PSone or PS2 games. the controllers are kinda pricey but this worths more if they cannot find the original PS2 controller or for the wireless controller. so i‘m glad to have that.

Do you have to unpair your controller from the PS4 first to prevent you turning on the ps4 when playing on the PS2, or does it work as long as the PS4 is off?

Dave! It seems no one talks about the pressure sensitive buttons on the dualshock 2. The DS3 has this function also, does it work with the PS2? IGran turismo 3 and 4 uses it, also MGS3. it can be a deal braker

Yes it works with Pressure Sensitivity and DS3's I have tried it with Gran Turismo 3 and 4. You may have to do a firmware update on the Adapter for this to work.

I’m using this on 30001 model and using the new DS4 with the light bar in the front. I’ve tried several methods of getting it to work like changing usb cables for the DS4 and connecting another usb to the ps2 for power. It seems like it “reads” it because the light turns white I have no clue what’s wrong. I’ll take literally any advice.

I've been on the same journey! I still hold out hope 8BitDo will release their version of a bluetooth controller for PS1/PS2 - but this seems to be the next best thing! Thanks for the video!

This. I want to connect my 8bitdo SN30pro probably the best way to do it is to use this and plug an 8bitdo USB adapter into what appears to be USB port on that adapter for usb controllers. It isn’t cheap but it will allow me to get closer to my ideal setup of using my 8bitdo controller on everything.

@@toufich2353 as long as the adapter outputs an compatible signal it should work. As you can plug DualShock 3’s into this and I believe their USB adapter works on the ps3, I’m assuming that that means that the 8bit do adapter will work when plugged into the brook adapter USB port.

Hi buddy I have been also moving all my retro consoles to a wireless controller solution. If you want megadrive and Sega saturn wireless, i recomment get the retro-bit sega mega drive and sega saturn 2.4ghz controller, they are licensed sega branded 6 button pads with both original hardware dongle and a usb dongle. Great bargain and works on ps3 too. I think it might work on pc potentially too via usb dongle. Check it out. I have ordered this as i wanted to play my mayflash 300 arcade stick on ps2 and looked for solutions. This seemed perfect as mayflash 300 runs in ps3 mode so this adapter will allow it to work on my ps2. Now wireless dual shock 4 on ps2 is a super bonus. I will try it out and do a video, expecting delivery today. Check out my supwr converter review of the classic snes to switch adapter. Works on ps4 too. Great video, like the review. Can you do a followup to show if it has any wireless connection issues after like a month of usage wireless. Thanks.

I've been searching online for a decent PS2 gamepad. The left analog stick on mine is kind of busted. This seems like it could be the perfect solution but what I'd like to know if you still get the analog button functionality if you play PS2 games with a DualShock 3 through this adapter? A bunch of games use this like many racing and driving games for acceleration or the MGS games due to their unique control scheme. I took my PS2 out to play a game called Psi-Ops in which you can move objects around using telekinesis and how hard you press the shoulder button determines how high you lift an object. Can someone who's actually used this device answer this for me? Based on what I could find all these 3rd party controllers you can find just have digital buttons and if I can't get the full functionality of an original DualShock 2, I'd rather stick to the original Sony pad that I have even if it's not in a perfect condition.

No the pressure sensitivity doesnt work with this adapter and say a Dual Shock 3 for instance. Just tried it with Gran Turismo 4 and compared it to a regular Dual Shock 2.

It's all great and all but it has a major flaw,which no one seems to talk about,you cannot charge a ps3 or ps4 controllers on the ps2 directly,which for me is a deal breaker.

I understand but I have many other ways to charge it. You have got to think how much it will draw from a USB port to charge that? The controller port may not give out enough juice to charge it.

I ordered one from Amazon and just got it. I plugged the adapter into my PS1 white, synced my Dualshock 4, Bam! It works. That simple. The only other question I have, is there any way to get audio out of the dualshock's 3.5mm jack after it's been synced up using this adapter? I tried everything and couldn't get it to work.

I dont think that will be possible, since the controller port from the ps1 does not output audio from it.

I don't think so, maybe from the usb on the ps2 ( I don't have Ps1 but I don't think that they have usb ports) but the ps connector doesn't output audio.

Yes that is an option but I’m coming from the angle of using wireless controllers with the real hardware. It’s all emulated on PS3 and whilst for most it’s acceptable, there are issues.
