My second attempt at cleaning the old GSXR fuel tank via Electrolysis

In this video I try again to use electrolysis to clean the old GSXR tank.
Then I discover just how bad this tank is and I have to decide if Im throwing in the towel on this tank.

I admire the time and energy you put in attempting to rescue this tank. Being a gearhead, I'm saddened to see that motorcycle manufacturers (oem and aftermarket) have not shown an interest in keeping parts available for older/classic motorcycles. The automotive industry is doing a superior job of keeping parts available for popular vehicles. In some vehicles, you can build an entire car or truck from parts that are available on the market. Keep up the great work.

Suzuki UK had/has a vintage let’s program. A few yrs ago one of the UK bike magazines built a 85 GSXR750 from new parts. Sadly the program has been discontinued. While I’m in Canada I used the UK website to try and buy some stuff (rear fender for example ) and they contacted me to inform me that the have discontinued the program and are now just running down the remaining inventory .

WOW that’s extensive Rust!! Shame u don’t have a Bore scope so u could give it a proper look at but the evidence is there She’s a shocker

I have a bore scope but I can see through the holes too, it’s awful

Ouch. That is extremely nasty. I am very interested in the exact solder you are using. Looks like tin lead solder??? Please let me know what it is. I need to solder a few pin holes after my stud gun dent pull > vinegar > metal rescue tank I just did. Thanks, Ken

. Most roofing solder is 50/50 tin lead sir

I used 50/50 lead and tin solder, solid core (no flux core) and the thickest stuff I could find.

Well done for having a go at it. Tanks can be a pain in the posterior sometimes. I have a ZXR750 H2 that I'm currently restoring (it's how I came across your videos). The tank is lovely and rusty inside, but luckily there's no holes.

Yea Hard to get fuel tanks here too. EBay won’t ship fuel tanks internationally from some countries. I’ve had success from some places but not others . Thanks for watching
