You read court cases, then you either book brief or on a word doc or sheet of paper you brief by using IRAC- Issue, Rule, pro history, Analysis, & conclusion. Then once the class starts then the cold calling beings. But what most professors don't mention is that reading the cases & briefing will not aid you in the final written exam. You have to know the rules and how they apply to the facts (fictitious case) and somewhat apply the cases read in class. Hope that makes sense. One useful thing is Quimbee for understanding the cases given in class or study aid books that have briefed almost all cases given from professors. Helix provides FREE 1L through 3L/4L outlines. And getting As in Law School is not easy. All Law schools make you compete with your peers and thus the bell curve exist. There are a small number of law students that get As

I don't remember law school. Best advice, get into a clinic (any clinic) as soon as you qualify. Otherwise you'll be playing associate lottery the moment you pass the bar.
