You’ve got to say enough is enough of having to deal with people who don’t align with your values, or simply get on your mammaries,, negative people, rude people with no manners, inconsiderate people who bring nothing to brighten your day, I enjoy my own company and happy doing my own thing, I try to be the reason why someone smiles, life is for enjoying and every day is a blessing, appreciating what you have is key, best wishes, Lisa

I retired at 63 with a view to finding something part time, offered two part time jobs I declined as I realised I lacked the ambition required and to be honest have become a bit lazy and now enjoying my free time to do nothing or something, each day is different.

I've been through the exact same story. I quit my top executive job at 50 and invested 10 years trying to set up a twice-a-week work business. All went wrong, and I had to return to work full-time for a couple of years to recover financially. At 60, I finally managed to get to where I am now-a full retirement on my terms. Nower days, I do my best to convey my story and insights - 101 yours - to my son, hoping it will sink.

Hi Nick - the thing that spoke to me in this vlog was the anti-goals, being clear about what you're not aiming to do or get involved in. That's not something I haven't and I suspect others don't really think about. Cheers, Kevin

Loved the comment about running into assholes, etc. That was my experience, too. Haha. I, too, am an introvert but spent most of my career supervising people. I retired at 67 two years ago and I totally agree with your secret sauce. I have zero ambition. Friends suggest things with respect to working part time and I say "nope". I am getting better at retirement and don't wait for other people to entertain me. Great channel.

When I read the title, I thought it meant that you were not driving after 60 😂

So how much do you need to sustain your lifestyle which appears to be comfortable yet not excessive. Might make a good episode to discuss.

Good one! I've been following your videos for a couple of months, I'm the same age as you and this video really struck a cord. Throughout my career I adopted an "ambitious", make-sh!t-happen attitude... I prided myself on it. However, as I entered the veteran phase I began to notice something significant, and actually, career-ending. My tolerance of incompetence and A-holes was diminishing at an alarming rate, the honeymoon period in any new job or project went from months to minutes! Like you, it took me a while to work out that the answer is to not engage in the first place and then. as Mark Manson says, not give a monkeys... he doesn't actually say that, he uses the f-word, but he's American :)

I didn't understand why I was the way I was until I did the Myers-Briggs personality test.

The desire to be the best or very good at what you do burns strong in some people but others are happy to go with the flow. Arseholes tend to be the ambitious types who don't want to put the work in. Personality type has a huge bearing on the way a person as a supervisor relates to a team of workers & the culture within the group. Great video.

Brilliant advice! Thanks. I think I needed to hear this. Watch out for getting too sucked in by KZbin though... it's easy to measure so the chase for subs and views is real.

I wan to watch daytime tv all day long and go down the pub in the evening. I call that ambition 🤣

Great information. Thanks for sharing this. It is a great video because you are not pushing anything on anyone. Just cause for thought about us ourselves A key to success I think.

Good stuff but can you let go of ambition and still have a sense of purpose?
