I must confess, when you first began talking about reading again, I rolled my eyes. 🙄and I wasn’t pleased with myself for this response. So I took some time to think this over. An avid reader my whole life ( the fam jokes no one remembers a time I didn’t read) complications from chemo (7 years ago) have kept me from reading anything but short articles and snipits of text. The focus is just too taxing. So it wasn’t you, it was me. Definitely me. I really appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to talk about your reading efforts, how you’re focusing on all the aspects of reading, ie GoodNotes. It’s a wonderful topic to bring into a public conversation. And koodos to you for doing this. I’ve reacquainted myself with my Kindle and brought in magazine and short stories to see how I do. I’m reading every day now since you’ve started your series. Kindle excitedly to updates me on my “reading” streak and I like it. I like it a lot. So convert my 🙄 eye roll into 🥹glistening eyes. Thank you. 😊

Hi Tayler, I am not sure if I've commented this in your last video, but wondered if you knew about the Libby app and how that connects to your local library catalogue, so you get ebooks and audiobooks on your phone/tablet/computer. I also read a LOT, so I'm glad these two hobbies of mine are colliding in your channel ahah I will say you have a variety of booktube channels available, not all on YA, promise! Some of the ones I follow are Mike's Book Reviews, Better Than Food. Elliot Brooks and Anna Wallace Johnson.

Love the color of your raglan! You could try picking up stitches by inserting your needle between the knit stitches rather than in the center/top of each stitch. Not sure if this totally solves the issue at the edge but I have done this once before and it looked way better than other projects and the designer (kutovakika) does this a lot for her sweaters where stitches are picked up!

Books sound fabulous! Will definitely need to check out the book seat! As for the sweater, you mentioned the collar seam when picking up stitches. I am wondering if a provisional cast on would help. Though not sure how it would work when increasing by casting on stitches but short rows might work for shoulder shaping if you provisionally cast on the number of stitches for the collar. Hmmm, I'd have to play with that but it's an idea. Have a wonderful day!

I really love when you pull in other hobbies on this channel! Obviously knitting is the “bread and butter” here and we found you here because we all love to hear about it… but I think it’s great to address that sometimes hobbies/interests come in waves and sometimes that also means we may have to spend less time on one to have time to enjoy another. I find that when I am hitting a wall in knitting with motivation or frusturated with a project, that picking up sewing or reading or crochet helps me come back so much more renewed… and likewise with all the other hobbies! Unfortunately no matter how hard I try I CANNOT read and knit. I mean I’m working on a Sophie shawl and am realizing I can’t even accurately count increases with a row counter when watching KZbin and knitting 😂 but as soon as I finish this video I will at least try to find an audiobook to listen to while knitting this week. It’s never been my favorite way to consume literature, but… gotta habit stack somehow lol. Though the book pillow and clip may be the key I’ve been missing… Such an admirer of you as a creator and your channel and can’t wait for the next video!

Thank you so much for saying this. It means a lot and you’re so right. We need to allow for other creative dalliances. ☺️ Also, I just saw The Cloisters today at the bookstore. I’m glad to know guy enjoyed it! And Circe is one of my faves. ❤️❤️

I’m loving the book reviews interlaced with knitting content, esp since I love your taste in books. I too read books while knitting all the time, so I love that you’re spreading the joy of doing this! In the gothic fantasy realm, check out Johannes Cabal the necromancer, I think you’d enjoy it (the audiobook is well narrated if you’d rather listen to it too).

Hello from the Greater Montreal area! Thank you for sharing the book seat, I will certainly look into that. You mentioned during your previous episode that you were interested in fiction, fantasy but also in historical novels. You might want to have a look The Chronicles of St. Marys. I have listened to all 32 books and short stories on Audible, and I love it! The historical facts have been well researched, and are varied from book to book. The characters are interesting; there is adventure, action, suspense, and a bit of romance. It is well written and Jodi Taylor has infused it with a sarcastic British sense of humour, admirably narrated by Zara Ramm. Well worth the price!

Your sweater is coming along beautifully! Love the color too. Here in Nashville we have the wonderful Parnassus Books, owned by a favorite author (and good human being), Ann Patchett. Not a gothic book, but I can recommend “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver - it’s a wink and nod to Dickens David Copperfield. Stay well!!

I find that the secret to reading and knitting is either to read from a kindle or to have a plate heavy enough to keep the pages in place ( and hope it doesn’t get tidied up for you )
