Man. Just another commercial. I miss the old videos. When counter days come around I’m just there for the food and free pocket screwdrivers.

7:36 - The sender of the Fast-Stat is less likely to affect the thermostat response if the installer observes the standard good practice of applying putty to the hole where the wires come through the wall behind the thermostat. Thanks for showing us this device. It looks like a viable solution for some challenging jobs particularly where the some of the thermostat conductors have shorts or opens.

I like to just run a new wire. I haven’t found one I couldn’t run yet.

Always been a fan of your clean work, but lately just feels like a lot of commercials. It'd be cool to see more in depth the real life day to day ups and downs of working in the trade instead of just pushing brands.

I never seen a situation in my area where I couldn’t just pull a new 18/8 or 18/10 wire to the thermostat. Most of the systems are in the attic and there is a few in the crawl space. I guess if you have a 2 story house on a slab with the air handler in the attic, it might be tricky to pull a new wire for the downstairs thermostat. We do have a lot of zone systems around here and some cases where you have 2 air handlers in the attic of a 2 story house. In those cases pulling a new wire might be tricky but most times it’s really simple and that is the preferred way to do it instead of selling the customer something that will most likely fail or cause issues down the road.

Most of the time you can find a way to run a 18-10 wire. Save several hundred and a lot less issues down the road.

Tekmar makes a thermostat that works off 2 wires....just have to install the module at the furnace and does multiple stages....plus it's wifi which most customers seem to want these days.

Usually you can run a new tstat wire, unless you do not want to. Guessing this was another paid promotion video. The homeowner is still not getting the full benefit and efficiency of letting the tstat control staging based on indoor conditions. This thing has a built in timer for upstaging that cannot be changed.

My question is if the windows were upgraded and the insulation in the house were upgraded to move from an 80% efficiency to a 90% plus efficiency 2 stage system? Seems like a huge upgrade just wondering if the property/ owner is going to realize the “efficiency” of the new system?
