A full "walk around tour" of my self-sufficient property has been requested by many people and I have finally done it! This is a full tour of our homestead from front to back concentrating on the orchard, vegetable patch, and poultry set-up.
I also talk a little about the new direction of my channel and how I will be making some significant changes to my content.

Lol I've got a bit of an addiction to this channel. I'll just play one video because it popped up in my recommend and then watch for the next few hours while doing other stuff. It's weird hearing you talk about only having 11k subs when I started watching only a few months ago, but it's also so cool to see how far you've come.

I grew up in Kansas in Midwest U.S. and my mother won a contest back in the 80s with the biggest tomato grown and it was like 3.5 or 4 pounds and then oddly enough I grew a 5.3 pound tomato just 3 months later and it was a beefsteak pink and it was 5.3 lbs in a bed 15 feet away from the plant she got hers off of. 2 different types and she was like ok son just quit trying to show me up will ya. I told her the contest is over nobody knows about it 😂. One slice cut in half covered two sandwiches 🥪🥪 so it was enormous. 🤷🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️. I really enjoyed your video and my mom would have too , but unfortunately she passed away back on January 23 2022 , a bit later by 6 years after this video. but she's enjoying the best food of all in Paradise. You can stop the water either by making a baffle, raised area in front of the shed or by digging down and putting in a gravel drainage area. We will l dig down and put down gravel with a pipe at the bottom to direct the water where we want it then cover with gravel then very porous soil on top

Have you ever thought of raising rabbits and pheasants for food as well? Rabbit meat is delicious! Geese, and ducks as well. I seen you have some ducks but perhaps a larger pen and small pond for them, just saying. Love your property and everything seems so well planned out. Those wild pigs would be slow cooking on an electric rotisserie over your fire pit. Us military guys know a lot about survival methods and it's a shame they won't let you raise larger animals on your property. No need to shoot the wild game there, you can set up a couple traps for those wild pigs. One of them will feed you for quite a while, but ½ a pig cooking constantly turning over that fire pit would make a good barbecue party for family and friends

Mark says "Never ends. But our place is about 25 years old". My place is about 140 years old (mostly 1880 pise) with 100 year old additions (1920s timber and concrete). The most recent addition is the corrugated iron roof which is at least 80 years old. The only issue that needs urgent attention is the damage a wisteria vine planted by a previous owner has caused to the roof and ceiling. We are prone to 40C summers and hard frosts from Autumn to Spring with snow and hail. Neighbours and former residents have told me the house has needed very little maintenance over the decades. This house was built tough to last by Aussie blokes lol! Loved hearing the Willie Wagtail throughout your video!

Mate after dinner eh, …clever ducks LOL. I sure love seeing ducks in the pond. You have a great location for your poultry. They have the space to wander around and trees for shade. I always enjoy your orchard videos, I love seeing the fruit trees. The citrus and mango trees’ reminds me of my childhood. They are pretty when they fruit. My fruit trees (citrus and stone fruits) are still young and they are in bloom right now. I have the white variety mulberry and after watching your video I ran outside to check mine LOL. I saw heaps of fruit on it. I can’t wait to taste them. We had the same variety as you got when I was young. We had them growing on the side of our driveway and the school kids walking by would stop and pick some to eat. Your garden is lovely as always. I can see the challenges you have with the fruit flies. I am lucky, I am in Adelaide and I haven’t experienced that of yet. I guess you could still grow some of the bigger variety under cover during the warm weather months. Don’t worry, people will come to your channel; just put the front porch light on so they can find you LOL. You have a deep passion for what you do to be self-sufficient and your viewers like me appreciate you sharing your ideas. I look forward to seeing the comic in you in your future videos. Thanks for the show and tell. When you got to the bee hives, I wondered if you harvest the honey and wax… and make soap and candles. Maybe I will find that you’ve done a video on that. I hope your sons will be great helpers as you expand your farming!

Watching your videos has helped my garden so much. Just starting out but I have fallen in love with it. Too bad the growing season is so short in southern Ontario, Canada. Cheers!

Your place is amazingly beautiful! I'm new to gardening since I've lived in Arizona most of my life (I can grow cactus) lol but I now live in Colorado and recently bought a house and wanted to start growing my own sustainable plants and trees in my yard, I came across your videos I have really enjoyed them and have learned quite bit so far! I would love to hear an episode on how you grow your Avocado tree 😀

Hi Mark, I'm a new subscriber - been watching your videos for a few weeks now. I'm from New Brunswick Canada. I love your videos. I've learned so much already. I'm amazed how many fruit trees you have, unfortunately we can't grown most of the fruit trees you have. Our season is from June to end of September to early October. Thank you for all the advise. Love it.

Your place is absolutely lovely. How many acres do you have there? That's what I want, the acreage but in a residential area. Something big on the outskirts. Your place is absolutely lovely. I have to catch up on your video's but I look forward to the additional style as well. Thanks! Janice

Hi Janice, and thank you! We have 3 acres and purchased 10 years ago (boy that's gone fast) but we had the same want/need to buy acreage still within proximity to major centres. There's still plenty of properties like mine for a reasonable price around in this part of the world, thankfully. Cheers :)

Amazing. So envious. I love everything, the citrus esp. & daikon radish. I make sandwiches out of a thick stack of paper-thin slices between buttered Kaisers. summer almost over. Too dry this year & nothing amount to much except kale. the day I intended to finally start taking leaves, i went to the containers & all that was left was the outline & veins of it all. something had cleaned it all. Each squash plant has 1 fruit, the size of a big apple so far. The single zucchini has been about 2 inches long for weeks! Was watering every 3 days with rain water...a bit far to go daily.

Maybe dig a drainage ditch alongside the shed. Chuck some gravel in and trap the water to direct where you want.
