Thanks for posting your video and family tree ... awesome and interesting results. My ancestry dna results took same amount of time (8wks) and finally came in. My results were Europe 49%, Native American 32%, Middle East 8%, Africa 10%, South Asia 1% ... I knew Europe & Native Am. but was pleasantly surprised to see Middle East & Africa mix as well. I think these tests reveal so much and give you a new perspective on who you are.

Hey Barbara, Thanks for sharing. We could be distantly related not just because you resemble some of my Portuguese cousins but also because of the Gomez surname that we share in common. My 2nd great grandfather's surname was Gomez. He was born in Portugal but might have migrated there from Spain. There are some indications that he was also connected to other Western European countries, including France, Italy, and the UK. Because Gomez/Gomes is a Spanish/Portuguese surname, this could also partially explain your Iberian Peninsular admixture. To get an even more in-depth look at your DNA, if you have not already done so, I recommend that you upload your raw DNA sample to Gedmatch.com. We could then exchange kit #s to see if we are related and, if so, how.
@TheBarePantryShow
@TheBarePantryShow 6 жыл бұрын
I was going to upload to that website you said, but I got some warnings from Ancestry DNA that kinda spooked me. You saw that it says my native side is North, Central and South America so I'm sure we're related. Maybe I'll go back and check to see if I'll upload to the GEDMATCH.
@DonaldStewartOnline
@DonaldStewartOnline 6 жыл бұрын
About a year and a half ago, there were some issues with web sites' security certificates expiring. I believe Gedmatch.com was one of those websites. That issure with GedMatch security certificate has been resolved. And as far as I know, the website is fully secure. So, if you have not already done so, it should be safe to upload your DNA to the website. I hope you do because I'm really curious to find out if we are indeed related and, if so, to what extent and on which chromosomes.

Take into mind these tests only got back 5 generations so any amount that shows up even 2 percent or less is a big amount and that is still a lot of family members related to you so if u have 2 percent let's say Italy or anything you might have a great great great grandfather who was Italian and just imagine all the family members he has related to him and they are also related to you

@TheBarePantryShow
@TheBarePantryShow 7 жыл бұрын
I believe most of the Caribbean countries have the same Anglophone accent. Belize was owned my England and we speak English as our primary language, but we are located in the Caribbean so we have that mix thrown in there. I have been living in America since 1981 and studied broadcasting, so I'm sure there is an added accent from that too.

@TheBarePantryShow
@TheBarePantryShow 7 жыл бұрын
To Belizeans, Jamaicans sound way different than we do. They have a sing song time of pattern in their speech and the say things a bit differently. We say aha for yes and they say ihi. They say the H when it's in front of words like hour and then don't say it in words like him. They'll say something like this. "eem say eel be there in one Wh-our" for He says he'll be there in one hour. Sometimes we can't understand what Jamaicans are saying.

I'm basically Scottish (with some known Cornish & Welsh ancestry and I apparently have some deeper Irish roots). My results from Ancestry are 48% Irish, 33% Europe West and a mere 9% British. I'd guess that your high Irish score points to your Scottish ancestors being from the highlands of Scotland, or at least from areas where the Irish/Celtic influence is strong, rather than those parts of the country where there is more Anglo-Saxon influence. So don't tell your father that he's wrong about his Scottish ancestry!
@TheBarePantryShow

Everybody has some type of African in them whether they like it or not. I'm half Puerto Rican and half white. I'm interested in doing the DNA to find out what I am as far as my father side. On my mother side we have a Nigerian, Italian, and a few other nationalities I can't remember the top of my head. My great grandfather who I got to meet spoke perfect Spanish he was from Spain and he had a white last name he had blonde hair and blue eyes. I just think it's amazing how far our nationalities go back and then when you send it take a body like oh crap I can see this. Slaves were taken to Belize, but got emancipated back in the 1800's so I knew I'd have African in me. I thought it would be a bit more though because we have black on both sides of the family. When my sister does hers, I wonder if she'll get more or less in her. She's way lighter skinned that I am.

I definitely see the native, but I thought it could be from India. Because as Belizeans, we identify as black, I think I totally blocked out the European side. Don't get me wrong, I knew that I was part European because of my dad's dad and my mom's great grandpa, but I just don't see it when I look in the mirror.

At all ? Any person with 20/25% African dna will look ethnically ambiguous and not biracial.

scotland was populated by irsh running from invading britons. so it would make sense that your scottish family is showing irish.

The Bare Pantry Show Scottish DNA cannot be distinguished very well from Irish DNA. Thats why Scottish, Welsh and Irish are all grouped under the 'Ireland' category.
