Best of all.. You don't need the clutch other than for inching! The power shift in the 8630 up to the 8830 works the same too other than you use the gear lever for forward, back, up, down gears though I don't know if it's the same gearbox? If it's not then it's the fore runner. No clutch 1 to 18 with I think 9 reverse. A lot of them to me have so many buttons that are small and really close to one another, looks a nightmare until I suppose you feel where everything is. Are those fields yours and are they for bulbs for the coming season? Cheers Lewis.

Good point bringing up the 30 series. I think that is the fore runner but I might be wrong. It's a rented field and the bulbs are likely to be in the floor for 3 year to mature

30 series is the forerunner to the 60 series. The 40 series were good too, the farm had an 8340 and I can remember my father saying it was a very good tractor when he'd used it at odd times, it's main driver did all the drilling at that time with a 3m combination but dad had used it a couple of times with a heavy 3m simba disc with a simba press towed behind that, he could get up steep banks without losing as much forward speed compared to the 8630 that was his tractor but the 86 had front weights and cast wheels so was a lot heavier, better for ploughing which he did also. The 83 was better on corn cart on the road too, was the first tractor they had that did 25mph. Slow to today's tractors!

@@roberthiggins6401 Thats amazing. i really like that comparrason between 2 iconic big tractors for the time. I love the look of the 8630's but the 8340s just seem abit cooler for the tech they had

The controls of the 30 series were the same as the 10 series it was only the gearbox that was different and they could be and were still specified with a conventional gearbox. The 40s were a step forward with tech as you said. The later 10s i think we're first with the digital dash with area covered etc but that may have been in conjunction with the 30s? I'm not sure. As far as Ford go anyway. Massey were first with that sort of thing with the datatronic,I believe. I'd have loved to have a 3080/5 datatronic. What other tractors have you got that we haven't seen?
