SURE DO appreciate your ‘painstaking’ meticulous-ness in making this video. Lots of camera work, labor AND great explanation in the “whys and the hows” for getting that pump off. Thank you!

Without this video I'd be lost. The best and most complete one I've found. You got a fan. Much obliged.

Thank you very much. I put it out there so it might help somebody else and spread the knowledge that I have after working fuel injection for 49 years

Thank you for the video. I’ve got to pull the same pump off my ‘71 2520 and even though I’ve done it before, you have shown me a couple things I wasn’t aware of.

Very good video, good job, wish I had a Stanadyne instead of the Roto Diesel pump on my 1530

When you put it back together do you make sure the dimple marks are lined up on the inside the pump and in the end of the pump shaft? I have a 410 backhoe giving me fits rite now.
@cumminsdieselgt2 жыл бұрын
Yes, that keeps the pump from being 180° out of time.

The Injection pump drive shaft is keyed to drive gear..... More simple to remove as unit.....instead of fighting umbrella seals when installing..... might require a small T bar puller. and a propane torch.... worked for Deere most likely what failed is the mylar ring that attaches weight ring to rotating assembly.....Very simple pump

I was a "train the trainer" for Stanadyne/Roosa Master. It takes longer to remove the front cover, and pull the pump that way for me. If you're careful to put them in properly, it's not a problem.

If you pull the pump with the keyed shaft would you still have to time it or not?
@ericlineberger22992 ай бұрын
@@cumminsdieselgt My dad was a Deere service manager in the 70's. You're correct, have to drain the cooling system, remove the radiator hose and be sure not to drop the woodruff key in the timing cover. too remove the pump drive shaft. It is a little aggravating to get the the umbrella seals back in, but much less time comsuming

I know I'm 3 years late into this awesome video...I am working on a John Deere 4276T that has a questionable Stanadyne DM4427HB2915 very much like the Roosa Master in this video...by chance would you happen to have a hard copy of the removal and installation procedure available? Thanks for posting great videos!!!

I am sorry I'm so late in replying to you, as for some reason my Google has not sent me notifications of messages. It took me a while to find yours and I hope to answer your question. On the tractors which I worked on, that had the DM series pumps on them, you had a timing cover which you had to take off on the front of the engine. This injection pump bolted into this timing gear in the gear train of the engine. You must time the engine up in a similar manner before removing the pump. The ones I removed had three bolts in the timing gear that bolted to a drive coupling mounted on the drive shaft of the injection pump. Once you removed those three bolts after timing the engine up, then you could remove the pump from the gear train of the engine. The drive shaft will stay in the injection pump and is supported by a bearing in the front of the pump housing. Do not try to remove the nut from the drive shaft to the pump in the center of the timing gear.

I have a 2020 John Deere tractor I have to do this to. I didn’t see the part where you lined the pin in the flywheel and line the two lines up on pump.
@cumminsdieselgt4 ай бұрын
I'm sorry it's been a while since your comment. I apologize that my Google did not let me know people were commenting on my video. Behind the injection pump at the flywheel of the engine, they're usually is an inspection cover held in by a bolt that has a point on the end of it. When you unscrew that bolt turn it around put the pin in the bolt hole, and as you turn the engine over by hand, not with the starter, you will feel that pin push into a drilled place in the flywheel. At the same time if you watch in the side window of the injection pump you should see two lines lining directly up when the pointed bolt goes into the flywheel. That times your engine properly to take the pump off and to put it back on.

Can I swap a cav injector pump to a roosamaster on one of these tractors?
@cumminsdieselgtАй бұрын
Unfortunately, they are driven by different connections in the gear train of the engine. The engine was designed for the fuel system it came with. CAV was built under license from Roosa Master before it became it's own subsidiary of Lucas fuel systems. Now it is owned by Delphi Corporation.

You completely skipped the pre-removal timing procedure..possibly the most important part?
@cumminsdieselgt Жыл бұрын
You can time it to remove it first, which is the optimal procedure. However, the majority of our customers at the fuel shop have already removed the pump and did not time it up first, prior to removing their pump. I based this upon their experiences. And you are correct. I love to time them before removal.
@DonVanorden-gq6rr3 ай бұрын
A video on how to install it in time it would be awesome
You said you was going to time the pump before removal or you didn't show it in the video. You didn't show putting the timing pin in the hole on the flywheel either

I just finished watching the video where you installed the rebuilt pump I understand now

I was wondering the same. Pin the flywheel first with pump timed and then remove.
