The Parkhurst fit shows how much went into developing their lasts, fantastic

Your presentation and description of what defines comfort is excellent ! I'm age 71 and while I absolutely love heritage constructed boots my feet, ankles, and knees are more sensitive to comfort these days. Things that wouldn't bother me at a younger age are now more pronounced as I get older so comfort is a top priority. I don't have a single pair of heritage boots that at the end of the day I don't realize I'm wearing. Not that they are uncomfortable, rather I'm just aware of the weight and maybe too stiff of support around my ankles. It feels good to slip into my Clark wallabees at the end of the day. Also, I like that you recognize the good design of the Alden 405's. Your description of Cantilevered arch support caught my attention (engineering background) and I totally understand the concept. Great job and thank you.

Such an honor to be featured in the video, those boots have been aging quite amazingly, and its very humbling to share spotlight with amazing brands like Parkhurst, Alden, Russell and Mongrel! we will be fangirling all over the workshop! Thank you Teik.

$700 makes me twitch at the thought, but then I remember I wouldn't think twice buying a nice watch for that kinda money. And you're getting a whole lot more function out of expensive boots than a nice watch! Completely agree on less rigidity resulting in more comfort.

I haven't tried the Alden Indy boot but i have tried on the Russell Moccasin and the Parkhurst boots. I have to agree with the Russell being first and Parkhurst making the top 3, my Parkhurst's have become my adventure boot because they are very comfortable and I wear them all day on vacation.

I got a pair of Russell Backcountry seconds over the Summer and it was the most unique feel to a boot I had experienced. I also love the Aldens as casual dress boots. They're good on hard surfaces and fit like a glove.
@adamr63Ай бұрын
I saw that one coming, LOL! My Backcountrys are the most comfortable boots I've ever worn, and that includes some of the best all leather hiking boots, even after they are well broken in. They are also by far the healthiest fr my feet, by a long shot. Darn it if the Aldens aren't still the best looking heritage boots out there, just something about the design really appeals to me. I've always wanted a pair of those classic Indys as well, but won't get a pair until my Thursdays are worn out, I just don't need more than one Heritage or Service style boot, living in the countryside and rarely in town unless it's for work or business, then I need something dressier.

I have found the Timberland six inch premium boots to be very durable and comfortable. Waterproof and insulated, they never fail to keep my feet warm and dry in winter. In the spring and summer a pair can be had for around one hundred bucks. Nubuck leather is excellent but the full grain leathers are the best.

Tek, excellent video… Probably should have bought Russell’s long ago, great looking boot…. Heck not that far away in Wisconsin as I’m in Indiana… Anyway had to wear boots my entire career as an Engineer on the railroad and wore many different brands like Red Wing, Wolverine etc…. I’m retired and broke down and purchased a pair of Alden Indy’s and now I have 3 pairs as well as other boots like GS’s but my Alden’s without question are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. I sure wish I had known about them when I was still working on the railroad. I do continue to work part time though, and I wear them on the floor at a large sporting goods store here in America. Great video and I appreciate your work there…. P. S. If I was younger, I’d buy a pair of Russells too, great looking boots and they actually look comfortable..!! Five Stars, Greg

Holy smokes, do you have a boot closet or special room you keep all your boots? Only have ten pair myself and my biggest challenge (other than funds) is sizing but most boot makers are pretty good about sizing on their websites. Will be ordering a pair of Cordebes cap toes in the next month or so, as I took advantage of their discount on their lasting service.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
My Brannock and sneaker size are about the same. Almost all the boots I've tried lately run small or narrow. Have mentioned this before, but in case somebody new stops by... Some boot companies I have not tried, like Parkhurst, because their website says they will be too big for me, but increasingly I find that this is incorrect and maybe I will try them next year instead of some others. I also hear that Russell is harder to work with unless it's in stock and then ye still must pay Return Ship AND restock fee [unless exchange], so I left that one pair that might have fit me and bought other brand instead already for now.
@Highland_PaddyАй бұрын
I got about 50 pairs this year, but quite a few on sale price, and sent back about 10? I won't need to acquire many next year, I suspect. [Or maybe I bought more like 40 and sent back about 10. Still more than I really need in a year when I already had a bunch from previous year, but really trying to compare brands and styles and things in the short-term.]

, another great informative video. I have a pair of C 'n' G moctoe style boots. Eight months wearing and I still find the soles to be very hard. The condition of the box and with items missing means I won't risk them again. They looked like they had been returned and then reshipped to me. Guess that's the risk in buying from overseas. 😂😂
@sentinel7122Ай бұрын
Excellent point about the Russell's and their more pliable sole resulting in more comfort! I don't own those, but thats another reason I so adore my Astorflex Bootflex with the crepe sole, especially outdoors (dry conditions only though lol). You also bring up stability a lot, and that was a MAJOR factor in comfort I only realized for myself a few days ago when my first Trumans came in. (FWIW, they're also my first "real" PNW boots; cap toe in Brown Ruffian, 79 last.) I'd worn my Thursday Captains for years, and though the fit is great and foam insert nice, something I couldn't put my finger on just made me not always up for wearing them... Turns out, it was stability! Even though the width for my foot is perfect, the combined width of last, welt, and sole is far too narrow on the ground. Even with the ankle support 6in boots offer, side-to-side stability is just not there. Having now walked around in my 79 lasted Trumans quite a bit, even though they're a little heavier, not broken in, etc., they feel 10x better to walk around in doing daily tasks, chasing kids, and whatnot. Great video as always, those Cordobes boots are beauts. And, thanks for the help with sizing! You helped me nail my Truman size on the first try. 😄
