Very nice tank. I like the idea of a Skittles tank (tank with multiple color shrimp in it) instead of a single color. Just understand that eventually a single color will dominate. Adding a couple more plants and turning the length of time (down) the light is on will cut down on algae. My shrimp tank lights are only on about 5 to 6 hours a day. More than that and I get much more algae in my tanks regardless of the amount of plants in the tanks. Also more water changes will help control algae. Since this is a very small tank I can assume you are only doing a half gallon to 1 gallon water changes. Maybe do 3 small water changes a week until the algae gets under control.

i bought some shrimp off a guy, they were random colors mostly orange and reddish or mixed and after a few weeks i have 2 females carrying eggs and i think a few more with saddles so im excited to see what i get. i put them in a 40g tank and they are doing really well

I would add some more plants and add some catappa leaves (Indian almond leaves) to give the shrimplets surfaces to graze on for infusoria and algae. You might also want toadd more minerals to your water if it is sof water (low in calcium hardness, KH) The extra calcium will help the shrimplets moult and grow successfully. Also feed them leafy greens organic and blanched for calcium. Cucumber, zucchini, summer squash, butterbut squash thin ly sliced is allso good for them as supplimental food.

Algae bloom usually is a sign of high nitrates or too much lighting hours. Try to reduce feeding so that your nitrates will be lower and they're forced to eat the algae more.
