Op should give 100% to his daughter,the siblings are being choosing beggers,so let them be beggers,it was op generosity that included everyone's on the will.

Include everyone, everyone except the daughter gets one dollar

It's a rug pull moment, if you have been in a child's life for 20 years saying to the parents you will leave everything to them, only to change your mind later, that is an opportunity cost for those kids and a big readjustment. It's not begging if it was freely offered (and gratitude given) and then taken away.

Story 1. Your daughter should be your priority. You can leave a little bit to your nieces and nephews, but that is your choice. Leave nothing to the siblings

2nd story, OP's wife's family is abusive, and she should quit her current job and find something new. Then her family would get no flight discounts and OP's wife would actually get a paycheck.

OP in story # needs to put a "do not contest" and some other clauses in his will to protect his daughter's safety, because I wouldn't put it past greedy, entitled family members to do some heinous crap to ensure a payday. Folks have proven they are not about harming children to get money, and they are already very dismissive of OP's daughter.

4)Brett drinks their booze.They do not have to buy alcohol. Many set ups like this operate with 3 bank accounts. One joint for their expenses.The poster can start paying for things, like half the rent, from her own account. Money put into a joint helps support Brett.Stop being a free babysitter. Disappear before the kids arrive. Come back after they leave. Haul her freight if there is a surprise or emergency visit.

For the flight story: dear God, that family sucks. They're STEALING from OPs wife. They should have been reimbursing them IMMEDIATELY, not racking up debt and letting OPs wife pay for their life style. The Dad is the worst. Not only was he stealing from his company, but also his daughter. He got himself fired and deserved what he got.

never tell anyone what's in your will. just say, "I'm leaving you a little something" and leave it at that. If they say ty, good. If they ask how much, reduce the bequest for them.

OP does not need to justify to anyone as to why he is changing his will. His wofe/Partner and daughter come first. What OP should do is give 90 to 99% of everithing to his partner and daughter through trusts and live an amount for the others just so they can contest the will, and with a clause that states that if they challenge the will they will recive nothing. Beaids OPs partner and Daighter, the family are just greedy choosing beggars, they don't care about OP just his money.

@goatkiller66623 күн бұрын
The wife has lost 100% of her income because of her family? And you say it’s a tricky situation? And the wife’s dad uses it for business travel, yet hasn’t billed it back to the customer? Here’s how not-tricky this is. “Hey family! Remember the reduced fare flights you get? Yeah, well you’re using it so much that it is no longer worth me even going to work. I haven’t gotten paid in years. Because every flight you take, I have to subsidize. So, as the kids say, ‘This is why we can’t have nice things.’ So either nobody gets travel perks now, or I just quit the job, and nobody gets travel perks anyway.” “And if you have complaints, there’s a large box by the door labeled, ‘Instead of thanking OP’s wife for all the great trips, instead I want to complain.” Because even if the wife gets a $0 paycheck… she really DID earn some money, which had taxes removed, etc. maybe pushed you into a higher tax bracket, so OP’s paycheck has to make up the difference.
