This is a perfect example of a small, portable layout! I have a 3X3 layout for my wind up marx set. There is a lot to be said for small layouts like this, it really shows that yes, you can have fun with a small space! Nicely done!

I have a 027 circle on a 29 inch coffee table. Lots of stuff on a small space. Way fun.

Your mention about bringing the layout into a Train car reminded me of something i read in an old model railroader. In the Mid 1950s there was a small Club in Hawaii that built an Hon3 Layout Modeling the Narrow Gauge Oahu Railway on the inside of one of the Roads's old Coaches. The coach itself was Stationary (and still exists to this day) but i am not sure about the Present state of the layout, or if it even exists anymore.

You have given me a idea, I have some surplus plasticville, now I need to find the space.

Most sets came with just that same amount of track as well. The 0-27 size was great competition with the HO and S gauge market since it could be set up in a smaller space.

You need to run some "Beeps", and their associated passenger and/or freight cars. Also, you can add some track ties from strips of black foam rubber.

You said that you were a conductor on a real passenger train?! A dream job when I was a kid!

More fun than some big layouts! That would take me at least an hour to set up because I work slow to do it right.

Omg I have been looking all OVER KZbin for a video like this . My dad gifted me his postwar Lionel to run in my Christmas village . I’m way limited on space and just don’t have the four foot width to run it . I am so delighted to see I can go this small ! I will probably do. 2.5x6 Layout but this is great ? Subscribed ! Thanks

Excellent! I’ve always been an an advocate of small layouts - they’re the greatest thing when you have no room for that dream layout.

Good layout and video. There really is a town named Littleville in Alabama. It is on the NS line from Sheffield to Birmingham. I agree with you that it takes more creativity to build a small O gauge layout.

I love it! It's always amazing to see what you can fit into a small space, especially since I've built carpet centrals all my life. It reminds me of the Lionel dealer displays from the postwar era. If I were to offer a suggestion, I would suggest using a 1033 to power the layout, using the fixed posts for the semaphore and the variable voltage for everything else; it may help the semaphore operate a little more smoothly. If you can make it work with the transformer you've got, even better. These tiny layouts have a charm that just can't be beat!

Did you use 0-27 track for the radius? Because I'm trying to wrap my head around the width of the layout at 24" or 2'

I’m trying to work on a layout like this now and the 2 feet with doesn’t accommodate the the 0-27 radius

Your Lionel toy trains as well as all three Rail trains are considered O gauge not o'scale. Old scale 2 rail DC only
