If you have a long time horizon then you DO need to take on risk. Not doing so is risky😀. (true). The studies are out there. I mean, when else can you take on risk?

Thanks mate! I've been thinking about SMSF for a while and will be looking further into it. With fees and requirements taken into account I can see the allure of controlling your own interestes

@@ChrisBryckiStockspot Thanks Chris. I’m not sure that focusing on those parts of the haystack MOST likely to contain the needles isn’t a better strategy. I think you limit the returns for your customers. I’ve typically focused on exceeding the market by buying shares representing those particular sectors that are likely to do well, looking forward each six months. I started in Feb 2016. I’ve listed my returns to 31 Dec 21, and your model portfolio growth equivalent returns in brackets. 1yr: 19.9%(10.2%) 3yr: 23.9% (13.6%) 5yr: 19.3% (10.8%). Total return 161%. Current Alpha: 0.31%, Beta: 0.62%. Diversification limits your returns. As Buffett says, ‘Diversification is for those who don’t know what they’re doing.’ Agree?
