Yeah college was a really tough time. Looking back I had no idea what I was feeling or what SA was. Now I have learned so much. Knowledge is power.

I had the same thing with the sweating in class. The more I thought about it the worse it got! Especially on those days that I was nervous for a football game.

It is a paradox. Kind of funny how that works. The way to make it go away is to let it come and go and not give it the attention it wants.

For sure! Social anxiety thrives in silence. That’s when it can grow and grow. When you bring it out into the light you see if for what it really is.

Mine started last year and as a result I lost so many friends bc I get so anxious I don’t even talk to them. I feel like I don’t have the connection with people I used to have. I get panic attacks when I walk really only at school. I’m so self conscious on every movement I make and it seems like I made myself believe that everyone’s judging me in a bad way and it really has broken me. I’ve been going to therapy but it really hasn’t changed much. Any tips?

I would first say to consciously have compassion for yourself. Healing can’t begin until you love and accept yourself and are forgiving of yourself. I would then start out slow. You are probably feeling it at school because that’s where your peers are and you feel judged by them. I would try reaching out to one of your friends you feel you lost and try to reconnect. Don’t overdue it and reach out to all of them. People respond to how you act. Not to who you are intrinsically. So if you reach out, most people will be accepting of that and want to mend your relationship.

Thank you! I appreciate the kind words and am glad you started the program! I am doing pretty well. I moved in March and haven’t been able to do much with the channel because of all the craziness that has gone on in the world, but I plan to post one soon now that things are settling down. I actually just started a new round of the therapy 3 weeks ago and start session 4 again Sunday!

Hi! I on curious how the therapy went? I also suffer from social anxiety and was wondering what helped you the most. I would always try to force myself outside my comfort zone and embarrass myself purposely and try to make this a habitat. I am definitely improving from this method but wonder if you found any helpful tips through therapy or just from your life? Maybe we can find the cure to social anxiety lol

Hi , I'm looking up social anxiety disorder, and everything you say and ppl say are exactly what I go thru. 1 example. I work with my dad in our own business, we work in a shop we rent . And therez others in that shop also, my dad is like an out going guy, everybody says hi or what's up to him, and he even gos up to them ,but me nobody says hi, or what's up, I'm real quiet , I cant even make eye contact sometimes. So I get depressed , maybe they dont want to be my friend, so I say ok fuck you, if you dont wanna talk to me, I wont talk to you either bitch! But deep down I dont really mean it , I just wanna connect. Well dont wanna write to much. But that's 1 thing that affects my social anxiety. Just saying that little video like this do help. Me at least.

Hey Jonathan, I know what you mean. My therapy taught me about a concept where “what you give out, comes back.” This means that if we are hesitant and quiet around other people, then they will be quiet and hesitant around us. People are not reacting to who YOU are as an individual, they are simply reacting to the way you act or behave around them. I would encourage you to take one small step and just smile at one person each day. Don’t have to say anything. But that will show that person you are friendly.
