Hi Jessica! Congrats on attending Cal! If you’re feeling nervous about your first semester, come visit the Transfer Student Center. Everyone there is super supportive, knows what you’re going through, and cares about your success. We also have an EDUC 198: Transitioning to Cal class you can take which will introduce you to many other students who all want to find a community. Here’s the link for the class list: transfers.berkeley.edu/transitioncourses/. I loved my EDUC 198 course, it was only 1 unit, and I met awesome people there. If you want a peer mentor in your same major to give you some tips and guidance during your first semester, you can sign up here: transfers.berkeley.edu/majorinsights/. There’s also tons of cool activities that the center puts on for transfers, like movie nights, tree planting, etc. I was nervous too, but after finding ways to get connected, I feel just fine. Hope you will too 😊

Who is the dude in your icon? I got into UCLA and UCB too :)
@Azian2DaMax7 жыл бұрын
That's Glenn Gould, a famous pianist that was known for his Bach interpretations. and btw Wolfgang, please don't call Cal "UCB." People hate that shit.

Thank you so much!! It really helped me a lot, I'm a senior rn and I'm deciding between going straight to a UC or start in a CC. My mom and my aunts were all in sororities in college and I kind of wanted of wanted to have that experience, are transfers able to join greek life? sorry if I'm asking too much but I'm kind of freaking out of what to do
@kimikochelsea7 жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes you can totally join the greek life as a transfer student! Is the social life your main concern? Or are you also wondering about other pros and cons?
@ForeverInfinite167 жыл бұрын
prettyinpixie I was almost positive I wanted to attend CC first but a lot of people have given me so many misconceptions about how cc students are overlooked when they transfer and how it's so hard that it really confused me at a certain point

This was very informative, thank you! I've been admitted to Berkeley for the Spring semester and am also an english 😊 The chem class you took, was that a requirement for your major? A UCB series would be so awesome and helpful! 😄
@kimikochelsea7 жыл бұрын
I took the Chemistry class because I was trying to fulfill my pre-med requirements! :) It was separate from my English major! Also, I totally agree! Any specific topics I should cover?
@Memento1Vivere7 жыл бұрын
prettyinpixie Ohhhh, thank goodness! I had a feeling it was for another major, but just wanted to confirm lol Possibly a vid on how your experience as an English major at Cal?
@Azian2DaMax7 жыл бұрын
When or if you go to Cal, please don't refer to it as UCB. You'll get eaten alive.
@Memento1Vivere7 жыл бұрын
Azian2DaMax LOL Thanks for the heads up! I'll stick to referring to it as Cal, seems to be what everyone calls it.

How was your premed experience? I've heard some good things then some horror stories
@kimikochelsea7 жыл бұрын
:) I have honestly been meaning to address this in a video. And what you heard is probably accurate. It totally depends on the type of person/other commitments you have in your life. It's a lot of hard work, but I'm sure you could have guessed that! I don't think I should have tried to do both English/pre-med at the same time. I was not able to give an adequate amount of attention to both areas. What's your major? Are you pre-med? :) I think I will make a video about this soon!
@BiggyFo7 жыл бұрын
Yea I'm premed. I'm an applied math major, fortunately I shouldn't have a terrible amount of premed work left. I was able to finish everything except for the chem sequence at my cc I'm transferring to Cal this coming fall, and was considering if o-chem got too hard, maybe take it over at Berkeley city college if that was all possible.
@kimikochelsea7 жыл бұрын
Tbh, I don't think taking OChem at Berkeley city college is a bad idea at all! Sounds pretty smart in my opinion! I would totally recommend that! Chemistry at Cal consists of a huge lecture hall and then smaller lab classes. You had separate grades in both because they are technically two separate classes. I personally struggled with chemistry a lot but maybe that's just me. Your grade is based on like three exams and one final.
@BiggyFo7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info! I will definitely have to try the first chem class at Cal though.
