My son gets his FIRST GAMEBOY

Krosby gets his first game boy. Gameboy Advance to be precise. Thanks to the game doctor this weekend at @sacgamersexpo I purchased 3 new consoles. All of which I already owned but just couldn’t pass up his beautiful art. If he had an instagram I would tag him!
This Solid Gold Gameboy Advance was right up krosbys ally and he hasn’t stopped playing it!

I’m a Gen Z who’s really into retro gaming and it’s honestly really heartwarming seeing a kid his age genuinely engaged in playing games that most people would consider outdated. Super Mario Land 2 does way more than anything Ubisoft and Activision has been cooking up for a long time

This was adorable. I got my first Gameboy on Christmas 2000-2002 (can't remember) and I didn't even know they existed. Hope he enjoys it to no end

Only GBA game I had as a kid was Pokemon Leafgreen, and it's definitely up there, but Warioware Inc Mega Microgames is my favorite GBA game. So much content and so much fun!

You guys were in Sacramento Last Christmas??? No way!!! My Oldest Uncle and Aunt-In-Law (His Wife) Lives out in the Boonies in NorCal. My 1st Oldest Cousin and my Cousin-In-Law (Her Husband) Lives in Folsom, California. My 2nd Oldest Cousin and my Cousin-In-Law Lives in El Dorado Hills, California. Sacramento is an Hour Away from from El Dorado Hills. I Live in Southern California and I haven't been Up North since the Summer of 2007 when I was only 9 1/2. The 1st time I was up in Northern California was the Summer of 2005 so I was up there Twice.

I like how you're not a picky person like a lot of people who would immediately say "Huh? Why would I buy an outdated console, especially if it's out without a box? I prefer a new Nintendo Switch" . I mean , come on. I also say this because, I'd like to get one of these for my little cousin because his mom complains a bit about him user her phone a lot to play. But I don't know if she'd be picky about her child having an "outdated" console. No way in hell I'm getting a N-Switch.

The only GBA game I have played was Metroid Zero Mission, and it does not disappoint. I also have Wario Land 4, but I have not started playing yet. I’ve heard that it was Wario’s greatest achievement.

Wario Land 4 is an AMAZING game. They built upon the formula of the previous games with the addition of the Frog Switch, which has you running back to the beginning as quick as possible, as well with the ability to actually run. Besides the gameplay, visuals look stunning for an early GBA title, soundtrack is vibrant, and the overall presentation perfectly represents the experience of traversing through the Golden Pyramid. Wario Land 4 is so good that indie games have taken inspiration from it; these are known as Wario-likes and my favorites are Pizza Tower and ANTONBLAST.

My first “retro” handheld because the idk if this is retro or not but it’s the ds I remember in like 2018, 2017? Getting a black Nintendo ds lite from my moms friend and I got Lego Star Wars the classic saga then I upgraded to a 2ds because my sister snapped the og ds in half and now since 2023 Christmas Day I’ve had my ds and have been buying online and somewhat locally for my games(my ds has is red on the top front half)!

i have not really played any gameboy advance games, but i’m a big kirby fan, so kirby’s nightmare in dreamland is my fav, along with warioware inc mega microgames (i’m a fan of that series too lol) i’ve seen gameplays and i really like it :) congrats on his first retro handheld!
