Omg I'm so sorry. I know exactly what that's like. I hope when he gets out he is better but I pray that he stopped smoking all together otherwise he's going to fall into a psychosis I know from experience and I did not stop because I didn't at that time believe that this was related in any way.... Now I'm much older and I threw the grace of God and channels like this or the hubarman labs podcast I know the science behind it. Fyi I'm in my 40s so not a kid and my episodes happened and my mid '20s but I have been smoking since I was 16... So He can absolutely reverse it. Best of luck mama keep strong. I know that whatever he tells you... it's not him. Sometimes with something like this we say and do things that are absolutely not us in any way shape or form but could damage family relationships beyond repair

My son had to take medication but before he would take it, he refused, he stole my car one day and ran out of gas. A man stopped to help him, and brought him fuel. That man was a pastor and took him under his wing. He has a son same age and introduced him to my son, got my son involved in the church, his son monitored him daily to ensure he wasn’t using drugs. Was with him 12 hours a day. The Dad started my son working on jobs like cleaning carpets, cars etc as he had a side business, and trained him, eventually my son was willing to take his medication, and found jobs rewarding and church and friends rewarding. But it was a miracle. Pray is all I can say. I did for years

My 16-year-old son is currently in a psych ward for the second time in less than 6 months. He is saying the most vile and outright evil things to his father and I. It's extremely hard to hear the things coming out of his mouth. I'm fasting and praying for God to give me strength and wisdom because I honestly feel like I'm in a fog. They are recommending he goes to a dual-diagnosis residential home. I just don't know which program will be the best for him. The last one was a joke. I feel for all the parents out there. ❤

I’ve had Cannabis psychosis at least 5 times and somehow I am still alive. This last time was the final wake up call for me. I cashed out all of my savings and investments and spent it all on stupid shit! I am now diagnosed bipolar disorder and am recovering from Cannabis psychosis and addiction for the rest of my life.

Have you recovered from the bipolar symptoms? Or is it neurodegenerative with use that is irreversible? Can some of the symptoms be temporary jus for the withdrawal or is it plain biology degeneration? 😞 sorry for asking but recently a loved one (16) has been admitted to a hospital due to a “bad trip” . Trying to informed us to evaluate and go about the situation better. I think its just withdraws because it would be the first time we find out and this person is off the weed after heavy everyday use, yet the Drs were quick to say bipolar. So, since youve been there already it means a lot any insight you can give us. Please and thank you for your time to answer.

@@misstaveras8028 I am recovering from my bipolar symptoms and I am about 2 months clean from everything. I know about the bad trip! For me, it was full blown psychosis that manifested into bipolar mania. I could not stop spending all of my money because I was delusional. I ended up in a mental hospital twice last year from acute psychosis. I lost all control and all inhibitions. I completely departed from this reality and ended up behaving so erratic and dangerous that I ended up getting arrested twice! Even after the first arrest I didn’t even care because of my psychosis. I am horrified of the things I did when I was manic. It took several months after I quit weed and nitrous oxide and adderall before I started to come back to reality. It is recoverable but only abstinence and time. I am sure if I got back on any drugs I would eventually be in psychosis again. They have to stay away from the drugs, once a psychotic break happens, it will happen again if they take the drugs again. Watch them closely and tell them not to spend their money! It will be difficult if they are in psychosis, but you still need to try. I was delusional and manic and I was battling so many demons and voices that I thought were real. Show them this post. Just stop doing the drugs, especially weed on top of whatever else. It will ruin your life!

​@@misstaveras8028 I think bipolar is just a name the doctors/psychiatrists give, because the psychosis keeps reccuring. It sounds a little friendlier then Schizophrenic. It's mostly because they want to push you on not only lifelong anti-psychotic medication, but also something extra for example Lithium (or valproate). I've had multiple episodes of (cannabis-induced) psychosis too and that's what they told me last time as well, that I was bipolar and they put me on Depakine (which is used to treat patiens who are epileptic) along with the anti-psychotic Respiridone. I've had horrible side-effects from both medicines and all I had in my opinion was a depression because of those side-effects. I guess the anti-psychotic medicine was quite effective at getting me out of my psychotic state, but now I was suffering from Respiridone side-effects which is almost worse then having a psychosis. So we (me and my mom) were very persistent to each time ask for a reduction of Respiridone, but her response was no and instead add Depakine to the mix. She told us this would make me feel better/get me out of my depression as well, but it only made it worse. When you're taking Depakine you also have to do a lot of bloodtests, which also isn't funny. Thankfully my mom got very angry, so in the end after almost year I slowly weaned off Respiridone. The Depakine I just stopped taking as well, because I have no idea why it was given to me in the first place. She was kind of furious of my decision and she said ok, we don't approve with your decision and the next time they force me by law to take it, which to me is worse then a death sentence. I don't have a good word for most psychiatrists, but what I can say it's really better to be sober. @@misstaveras8028 The bipolar symptoms have become way less exaggerated since I quit smoking pot and doing other drugs. My bipolar symptoms were amplified when I was in psychosis, spending all of my money, taking really risky behaviors, doing all kinds of other drugs that I normally wouldn't do, going to strip clubs, just doing everything I could to get arrested or die. It was like I had no self control or concept of consequences for my actions. For me, once the psychosis is triggered, it has to run it's course, unfortunately, this meant more drug abuse and ultimately ending in getting arrested. Even then, it still took a long time before I realized it was the drug and that I was in psychosis and made an actual effort to quit. It's not something that can be told to someone experiencing it to just stop, they cannot understand you because their reality is completely broken. The only way is abstention from all drugs and let time heal the brain. There are antipsychotic meds that may work as well but I chose the natural way because I am forever scared of drugs now. I am still recovering every day, but for the most part, I think I am stabilizing when it comes to bipolar symptoms. The brain is elastic and it can heal, you just have to stay away from psychoactive substances. Good luck and God Bless!

I’ve had a similar experience..there is hope. It isn’t going to be an easy way out. It will take longer than you expect but I agree that the harsh diagnosis is sophistry. But regardless of diagnosis, it’s going to be a process of biblical proportion to get one’s life back. It may even take longer than 5 years and that’s ok. Your son can come out better and stronger than before these problems if you put your trust and faith in a true source of goodness and then make that a lifestyle! God Bless

I could write a book on this but I'll just say that the potential harms should be more commonly known. If you're doing this stuff and it makes you feel bad then stop doing it now. If you're having second thoughts about trying it or if you or your parents have any mental health conditions then listen to the warning and stop. I did a lot of lsd too so it's hard to tell what caused my issues but I too had adhd when I was younger and shouldn't have been doing this stuff. Don't create hell for yourself!

People repeatedly tell me that you cannot develop psychosis from cannabis use. I have first hand, up close experience with someone suffering extreme psychosis, schizoaffective disorder after smoking cannabis excessively. She has suffered for five long years while the mental health community says there’s nothing they can do for her. She must pursue psychiatric treatment on her own. This is not possible when you are suffering with chronic psychosis.

There is Harvard Psychiatrist claiming to be able to actually heal patients with psychosis type illnesses by having them eat a Ketogenic diet. He did some brain scans on those patients and in many cases the damage was reversed just doing that. I think it is worth a shot. Wish you could interview him or another psychiatrist about cannabis and possible ways to heal from damage from it.

Yeah I got psychotic off weed - smoked a whole bowl in 2001 - just flower. Smoked too fast. Sister got schizophrenia after smoking tons of weed in '95. It isn't JUST the concentrated stuff - they've known for decades it can trigger psychosis and schizophrenia. Many will say, "Oh it must have been laced" and that's obviously not the case. It seems weed is far more liable for psychosis than psychedelics.

I think psychosis will happen regardless of strength if the use is frequent enough and one is prone to getting psychosis. Pro cannabis folks keep saying the ones getting psychotic from weed are prone to it. The problem is there is no way to tell if you are prone to cannabis psychosis or not. You can be perfectly healthy and one day your brain is fried.

You can tell, you'll get anxious and it won't agree with you, also if you have any chance of schizophrenia or dementia you should avoid it completely the risks are known only reason we make a big deal about this is because it's newly regulated and people love jumping on the hype train but people don't realize it's the same as alcohol it's not just pot anymore you have to really know what your getting look at your percentages and as stated before if you or your family members have a chance or a history of mental illness it's a terrible fucking idea also dabs and concentrates are only dangerous if you don't consume in moderation it's just like anything else if you abuse it enough somethings gonna happen 🤷🏻‍♂️

@eliserichardson1990 even more reason why you should look into fasting. It resets your gut biome and reduces inflammation, amongst other things. It's challenging but just try intermittent fasting first. Like only eat between 12-6 or whatever you choose. Worth looking into

Yeah I was smoking weed, but I realized that they didnt control my life and threw myself into freedom, worrying my parents to no end and demolishing my relationship with them in the process. I now have an advanced degree and a great relationship with my parents, a great job and havent done any drugs in a decade.
