We also lost our loved one last year due to mental health. He was brilliant. Scored over 400 marks. Joined national school and got A KCSE. Secured job with international companies and was travelling the world. Most people envied his achievements but for him he felt empty and lacked purpose of life. Unfortunately, we lost him 😢. When we connect dots, we suspect he had bipolar. Awareness should be created about mental health.

I like the thoughts on mental issues. My strong advice,even as you seek spiritual interventions,counselling, rehab always ensure you seek professional medical consultations.....by a psychiatrist or psychologist for accurate diagnosis and treatments....mental health issues just like other physical illness require urgent medical solutions,some are emergencies even as you seek prayers, And i keep saying.....if stuck,come to Mathare if not so sure where to start.

Apart of mental challenges there is something like spirit and star hunter, my uncle was like that and my grandmother keep saying he have a mental health and an anger issue he keep going out of mind and all over sudden he come back to sense a A clean in all of his exams since he was in form 1 not knowing someone gives him a one hundred as a pocket money on his way to school, so one day he wakes up very early he was going to university at Fort Jesus in Mombasa and when he reach there he start fighting the soldiers that were on the night shift and the soldiers beat him badly hit him on the head and that was end of him😭😭😭 some situation we need to go down on our knees and get deep to prayer for our kids and families,, keep resting in peace uncle always called you my mathematician 🕊️

@elsykage3942Күн бұрын
This story has annoyed me,we need to do more. This case required an assessment by a psychiatrist 1st before counselling. 2ndly, at times the resistance to treatment is from the familes,the stigma ,am learning people prefer to do "kuongoleshwa"because unfortunately the treatment options are long term and looked at as not good"dawa za Mathare" 3. Assess to care is also an issue....very few options with proper and qualified mental health professionals I hate the issue of "daktari wangu" most times we don't ask who this people are...their credentials etc Then no follow up...because it not easy to convince ourselves our relatives are not capable to understand they are unwell.
