Hi, I was diagnosed at 2 with autism and speech delay. I’m still autistic until this day. Because of being an individual with autism, I also did my masters on special education and honours in Early Childhood and Special Education just to prove the world that there’s no such thing as outgrowing a disability. This is something that Allah gave to test you, and also test your child. May you forever continue to be consistent with being resilient. I’m not a mum but I work with children around Adam’s age and also they’re autistic too. It just takes a lot of thinking and patience. My speech isn’t the greatest but I try. Sending you lots of love and dua to you all 💕

My Darling Sister Chinutey.. Your son is amazing. I know many Autistic peoole who are very highly successful in becoming Qur'an Hafidh, Professors etc... The reward of raising someone with a unique condition is raising a person of Jannah, and what is the reward for the parents - the highest of Jannah for what they endured patiently.. May Allah make things easy for You and your husband.

Part of the reason Adam is thriving is because you, as his mom, were so accepting of whatever comes and pushing to find answers. For others, it may not be something they want to hear. My twin sister, his mother, lived in a rural area in the US and didn’t have the resources of experts or many specialized services but Thank God He provides. Thank you for using your platform to share your experience and your story. Awareness goes such a long way. I have nephews that are on the spectrum and have autism. I absolutely love them. My oldest nephew with autism is our gentle giant. He’s now 22 yrs old. He’s a genius at statistics and sports, he’s my human gps when on road-trips. You’ll never get lost with him in your car. Autism in my opinion is just another way of saying "their way". They learn at their pace, speak when they’re ready, do things in their way/order all while they teach us during the process. You’re not alone. There’s a large community with amazing children like Adam and we’re all blessed to be a part of their lives and them in ours. Embrace every moment.

Dear mommy i want to tell you how blessed we are to have such a unique person in our lives that we are blessed with to call our children, truly children are a blessing of the Lord 😊❤ here a mommy of a autism spectrum boy, ASS in dutch. My son also has a TOS (Google translate says language development disorder for English 😅) but to see him as my son of 4years old with a older sister and younger sister giving everybody so much love just fills my heart with joy! I was so lucky that our hospital send a person to my home who saw my son and said he needs to go to a special day care, where he could be himself and learn everyday something new! I know about the people who say, yeah but they just put him in a box, i always know this comes from a place of love but I try to explain that this box works because he needs a special school to go to and they need to see if your child fits this box, most people understand after the explanation! I am not ashamed to say that he was 4years old and then stopped wearing a diaper, it is on his terms on not on ours! I hope for every parent who goes trough this that they day positive and really look at all the beautiful things different children with different needs bring! God Bless you!

I remember when you announced Adams arrival and being so excited because I too was expecting. My Son Zahmir was born the 1st of April which was a little before you had Adam. So I really thought hey Manal is really my sister lol. Zahmir was diagnosed with autism when he was about 2.5. It was very hard to come to terms that he was different. The process has been very hard. But just as you described Adam , Zahmir is one of the sweetest souls on this planet. I found a lot of comfort watching this video. I remember getting that diagnosis. Knowing is always better than wondering or guessing. That validation means something for how necessary people should interact and help him to succeed. It always bugged me when people said they would grow out of it as if it was something they need to grow out of. I'm a Grandma raising my Granddaughter on the Spectrum and her half brother. I've had her since birth and her brother since he was 2. They are now 6 and 9. The 6 year old has ASD, Dyslexia, and ADHD. The 9 year old has more severe ASD, seizures, ADHD, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, a Mild Intellectually Disorder, a Genetic abnormality called Med-13, and is recovering from ALL Leukemia. Both children are very sweet and even in spite of the older child having some behavioral challenges, he is very sweet too. He was non verbal up until he was about 4 to 5 years old. He has some language now with the help of speech therapy. I also have an adult daughter on the Spectrum who will be 27 this year. She is a Manager in a Pharmacy. They all have brought me an abundance of joy. Educate yourself and do what's best for your baby to make him well adjusted and happy. Everything else is just extra noise because everyone will have suggestions and answers. But no one will know and love your baby like you will. Remember that you are the most important member of his medical team. Without you, they can't help him. They need your input and suggestions. So make sure you're comfortable with all of his treatments and treatment plans. That way you both will be happy as he grows.

Thank you for sharing Minal. It’s very common for people to be dismissive of certain behaviors and say “they will grow out of it”. I think it’s their way of avoiding putting in extra effort or their way or not wanting to acknowledge that a child is different. There is nothing wrong with a child being neurodivergent and nobody should love their child any less because of it. Being neurodivergent has many stigmas but getting your child help is the best way to ensure they are the most successful and happy! I am glad that Adam has you as his mommy! Your so sweet and caring and I know you will do everything in your power to support little man 💓🫶🏽

My baby boy is autistic. He’s 6 now and was diagnosed at 3 years 8 months old. His diagnosis wasn’t a surprise for us either. We noticed some things but it was the daycare he attended that really noticed. I just thought he was a late bloomer like his older brother (who is now 13 and actually never got an official evaluation and may be on the spectrum as well, going to get his evaluation done soon.) Thankfully the evaluation and the diagnosis was literally a week from each other, so it wasn’t a long wait to get the diagnosis. My baby has been getting the speech & occupational therapy services ever since and is progressing. I still have to get him into an ABA program but he has made strides with all of the services he’s received over the years. Praying the best for your baby and all of our special babies to be protected and able to flourish and be themselves in this world. May Allah keep them protected and let them be a light in this sometimes very dark world.

First of all, thank you for being vulnerable. I know this video was not easy. As moms, we will do what it takes to care and defend our children. My son is ten and has ADHD. I knew something was off and was focused on getting him the help he needs to go through life. We are so glad we made that decision early on. It has contributed to helping him in school. He says his concentration is so much better. It even helps him to deal with other kids. And yes, there will be bad days but we've learned that we just start all over the next day. I thank God for my husband because just last year, I was diagnosed with cancer. I don't know how I would have got through my treatments at all. So be strong momma... You got this!

@@3affaf each child is definitely different. We realized that all the things we were trying with him weren't working, maintaining the same daily routine, being one of them. We had to take the focus off of us and remember that we need to help him. So we decided on medicine. Adderall worked for a bit but then as he grew, it wasn't working. In fact, even if it did, the global Adderall shortage was a problem. He is now on Vyvanse and that's so much better. He told us when he first got the medicine that he doesn't have all this noise in his head. It's still a lot of work but he is doing great. One day at a time...

Adam is lucky to have such hands on parents who sincerely have his best interests at heart and will strongly advocate for him and be his voice when needs be. Autism is something that I feel is needs to be spoken about more. So thank you for taking this topic to your platform and speaking about this. You’re right, you do not owe anybody an explanation. Hi :) my nephew is now 4.5yrs. No diagnosis but has only started speaking more in the past 6months. School and drs do not seem that pressed to diagnose but his behaviour at times can be very very hard to manage. Mood swings, extreme anger/upset, hurting himself and others. Feeling frustrated, and overwhelmed a lot. He's a very very active child. Non stop. Is this more adhd or autism.. :s paediatrician said at last appt they think its one or both but no official diagnosis. He does well with numbers, drawing, thinking out of the box. But won't engage with other kids really or role play etc

Mashallah allahouma barik. I diagnosed my youngest brother at 4 to 6 months just by instinct because I spent the most time with him after my mum gave birth because she had ppd. So I kind of raised him. The process was hard to get him diagnosed, until finally at age 4 we got the same diagnosis that I told his GP, which was ASD and ADHD. My brother is now 11 this year mashallah and the best human I know but he is somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. He was speechless till age 6 or 7 but he is also the smartest person I know. He taught himself to read at age 2 before he started daycare. Mashallah allahouma barik. Anyway autistic people are truly a blessing honestly, they’re the most beautiful humans I know. My brother reminds me to pray everyday when I visit my family, even before the Adhan goes off as he memoriesed my prayer times and told me he is muslim because I am Muslim, mashallah even though I am a revert and my family do not approve of him saying that.

My son is in the process and the same age as your son. We don’t yet have a diagnosis but we are mid all those appointments. I love how you say “he gave you so much purpose” 🤍. That has really inspired me. I have some days when I can be the biggest advocate and others day when I’m struggling with the emotions that come with him not being “typical” and today was a hard day. Thank you for your video it has helped me xx

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am currently going through something similar with my toddler and knew there was something different around a year old. However, NHS and health care professionals have not been quick to help us with getting a diagnosis/assessment. I am glad to hear your concerns were validated and you manage to get a diagnosis. Allahumabarik you can tell Adam is so lucky to have a mother like yourself who talks about him with so much admiration x

This video is so precious ! Thank you for sharing your son's autism journey... I'm currently experiencing the same journey with my 2 years old daughter and I remember when the doctors told me when she was 18months I was just feeling so desperate not because she might be autistic but more being scare on how the world would treat her. Al hamdoulilah she has started therapies and I see her blooming every single day. Having a child on the spectrum just means you have a special child with their own superpower ! Being present and educate people around you is wonderful. Hang it there mama life for them will be beautiful in sha Allah

Hi Manal, it brings me so much joy to hear your story and especially during Autism Acceptance month (in the US). I have been working with children on the spectrum in the field of ABA for over 4 years now and finding this field was truly life-changing! I love seeing the progress that all my kids make and watching them learn new skills like learning to communicate or emotional coping strategies is the best part. It’s truly the most fulfilling job I could have ever dreamed of. I am currently studying to receive my master’s in special education and am studying to become a board certified behavior analyst. I would also like to mention that if there is anyone out there who is looking to learn about treatments, I would suggest looking into an ABA provider. Also, do some research to find local resources, if you are living in California there are lots of resources out there. Finding resources is really important and crucial to the development of neurodiverse kiddos, so it’s important that we really step up and advocate for our little ones by taking the time to find resources for them. Early intervention is crucial as children learn so much during their early years. I am truly so happy to hear your story, as this is something that I am very passionate about. Sending a big hug from California 💙🌈

Salams. Firstly you are an amazing parent recognising your sons need and are doing a great job learning the process. I work in a school in UK as TA and we see parents overwhelmed at the process of getting their child diagnosed. It's a long and slow process unfortunately. So many health professionals involved and lots of appointments to attend. SLT, behaviour psychologist, play psychologist, dietitian, health care workers, gp etc.. But getting help earlier on is the best thing to do. Look into schools that can cater for your child's needs and acknowledge him as an individual person and not just another child with Special needs. It all comes down to funding which the school setting will need to apply for in order to get him the help he needs at school. This will help calm your worries .I know it's a ruthless world out there but I have seen children be so mindful and kind towards their peers with additional needs. There's alot more awareness nowadays then there was even 5 years ago . Take each day as it comes...the good ones and the not so good ones .. You are blessed to see the world through Adams perspective.
