This video was a bit boring to create, but I hope the information it contains helps you. Here are all the exposure numbers mentioned in the video: GREY CARD (use zebras on camera and adjust the exposure until they are visible on the grey card): 32IRE Zebras = correct exposure 43IRE Zebras = +1 stop 55IRE Zebras = +2 stops 65IRE Zebras = +3 stops Alternatively, you can use spot metering to judge exposure by placing the card exactly under the center spot and adjusting the exposure until the MM icon shows +0.0, +1.0, or +2.0. If it displays +2.0 and blinks simultaneously, it likely means that you exposed too high. SKIN TONES (use zebras and adjust the exposure until they cover the bright/highlight part of the face: 40IRE Zebras = correct 32% middle grey exposure 55IRE = +1 stop 64IRE = +2 stops 74IRE = +3 stops With skin tones, it's best to expose 1-2 stops higher than 32% middle grey. Additionally, don't use these exact numbers on your skin. Your skin is most likely different from mine, so experiment with a grey card to see what works best for your case. Use multi-metering in combination with the rear display to expose landscapes and sunset/sunrise shots. This also works pretty well on cloudy days. Set the zebras to Lower Limit +104 and adjust the exposure until the zebras aren't visible on the brightest parts of the image. (Use with caution; it doesn't work well in most cases.) I have a Sony Zve10 and I was a little bit lost with so many information in KZbin and none of them was working till I find your video and definitely learn how to expose properly. Id love to see a video about you explaining how do you use your custom Key and how the item that you chooses help you in your daily videos. thank you mate! 14:49 why do people say you lose DR in the shadows when ETTR, it's hard to tell on youtube, do you see less details in the shadows on +3 stops compared to normal exposure? The only difference I can see is the jump from forests reflection to sky reflection, normal exposure looks gradual & filmic and +3 stops looks clean & videoy

Thank you for this information, however I do have question, how about in low light without much light and you only have f2.8 aperture lens? for example a street that has low light, how can I overexpose it without having too much noise? Do I need to dial up the ISO more?

Honestly, I wouldn't use S-Log2 in low light. From my experience, HLG2 is better for low light shooting. Watch this video to learn more: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XFeICiebOWd5I

What camera did you use to shoot this video? I am just asking because there are so many circle color artifacts on the walls in the video. So maybe that's why Log isn't the best option for 8-bit cameras? Thank you.

Just a beginner question, if I have a 18% grey card would I need to set the level to 18 for the zebras?
@Romafedorov8 ай бұрын
No. An 18% grey card represents only middle grey. Each Log profile should be exposed to 18% middle grey with a different IRE value (zebras). For example, S-Log2 should be exposed at 32 IRE when using an 18% middle grey card, but S-Log3 should be exposed at 41 IRE when using an 18% grey card. A grey card is essentially just a reference point. And honestly it would've been much easier if it was called 50% grey card. That way it would've been easier to understand that a grey card is basically the middle point between black and white.

If I fix the ISO to 500 when shooting landscapes why the exposure correction works automatically (M.M. +2.0 blinking) and cannot be changed? What does that mean? 🙏

Thanks for the informative video, i bought this camera to use it for cooking videos but im feeling a bit frustrated cause the focus of the camera keep switching between my hands and other equipment while working which doesn’t make the video look smooth and professional, I don’t know if this is the wrong the camera for this type of filming or maybe I’m doing the wrong sitting, but as i know that the intelligent auto mode is the one recommended which I use, i would really appreciate 😊our reply
@Romafedorov6 ай бұрын
The camera switches focus because there is a lot of movement in the frame when you're recording. Try using slower AF settings to slow things down, filming at a higher aperture (around f/7.1) to make the change in depth of field less noticeable, or filming with manual focus only and switching the focus manually each time there is a drastic change in the frame.

Hey Roma, a really, really great and informative video! Nicely done (although you say it's boring to create, it was really interesting to watch :) I've got a question: what will happen if I shoot my videos on Manual with shutter speed set to 2x the framerate, aperture manually operated BUT setting my ISO to Auto with Exposure Compensation +1.3 or +1.7? I am constantly founding myself shooting on very dynamic outdoor situations where setting manually MM to +1.3 or +1.7 isn't possible every 30 seconds and I was wondering if Auto + EC would make my videos unusable? Yes, I know it'll automatically adjust my ISO but is it gonna be visible on video IF the sudden changes in the light aren't too big - like totally sunny in the next second totally dark.
@Romafedorov9 ай бұрын
I don't see why this wouldn't work for you. If the exposure changes won't be too drastic, it shouldn't be that noticeable. However, why not consider using aperture priority? Using auto ISO can significantly increase noise in the image.
@Dimitar.Tsonov9 ай бұрын
@RomaFedorov because on A-mode I can't stop shutter speed to 1/50 which is my 2xframe rate :) or can I?
