Among Asian artists, GD's life is relatively legendary. Because he became famous too early, he attracted a lot of negative fans and doubts. So he has been living a very difficult life. But there is a child living in his heart, and he always has the innocent and kind side of a child. The entire 2017 album also expresses the life insights of a man named Kwon Jiyong who lived to be 30 years old. The concept of the album, song production, innovation, and production team are all not limited to kpop. The music is mature and has many pioneers. Moreover, in 2017, this was collaborated with Murda Beatz and Frank Dukes, even earlier than TS's hit single . It is truly a pioneer among pioneers.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! This made me get up out my seat right now while writing this. Like that right there is literally how to live life. The ways will come crashing in as it is part of the natural pattern of life, you can get swept away or learn how to surf it, dive, or even body surf it. I am so happy you pointed that out! you just witnessed the peak of Kpop my brother. This album, that year (2017) was something else... we all were so worried about him but he came out on top. It's 2024 and still this song is unbeatable, nothing has come from this industry this deep since Divina Commedia. It's also hard to translate some of his lyrics cause he's too damn good, there's a video on KZbin explaining this whole song by a professor or something. If you really wanna dive deep, recommend you that.

GD is his stage persona, full of swag, he can even appear a bit arrogant ( but he’s not!!! ), and Kwon Jiyong is his real life persona. On stage he’s a beast, in day to day life he’s really shy, especially with people he doesn’t know or he’s not very comfortable around.

I normally can breakdown and understand things real easy but idk why i didnt with his persona's. It literally says it all in his name. Kwon Ji Yong is literally him if you took away all of the achievements and skills. It is who he is as a person and GD is his stage presence which allows him to go out and create crazy concert experiences for people to enjoy

GD is the one who we see performing in stage. Kwon Jiyong is the one who confused if what he had right now is what he truly wants, the one who suffer in silent, in short the one in back stage. I remember he once do IG live (midnight) coz he feel lonely, he said that he have a big house but no one is in it. dude is battling depression in his whole life, that's why we VIP's are so proud of him and we never left him alone. If you haven't heard, just last year... the police throw shades at him and they announced that GD is using drugs then the mass media follow it up with a accusation that he is a drug addict just because they see GD acting strange (but if u know GD for a long time, you'll know that it's just like mannerism of him... especially if he feel anxious). this issue is also one of the reason why GD left YG, YG never step up for GD in this issue (like wtf bro GD is one of the people that literally make YG big). in the end, all of the accusations is just a lie and his name is cleared, and for the first time big news station in korea (JTBC) apologize for their false reports (a news caster did public apologize to GD in live television). after clearing his name, GD announced thaf he will do a comeback this year and he established an anti-drug foundation to help people who's suffering drug addiction (GD donates ₩300,000,000 or $230,237). thats why i still dont understand why people keep finding ways to throw hate on this man.

People are unhappy with their own life and project those emotions onto others. Hats off to GD for using that hate and starting a foundation. People are quick to label someone as a drug addict but arent quick to provide resources to help them get better its crazy. Knowing that it is not true, let's say if it was, why wouldnt you help him rather than judge. I understand GD and Kwon Jiyong and it is dope because GD is his stage personality while Kwon Ji yong is him as a person and his story. This almost made me cry. Just thinking of what he went through. Its okay if you dont believe in jesus or God but I did want to say after jesus was performing all different miraclous healings. he went back to his hometown and they hated him. I share that because no matter how much good you do in the world people will always find a way to tear you down....

GD is the youngest. His older sister is Dami. They're just 2 sibs. GD's sister is also a successful business woman with her own worldwide brand We11done, and have 2 big stores in China and SK. Divina Comedia is also my fave in Kwon Jiyong Ep Album 2017 together with Bullshit,Middle Fingers Up,Superstar and Untitled 2014. Kwon Jiyong Ep was a personal album that speaks bout his life,status in the Industry and he's struggles. It's deep personal album. Yes GD have 2 persona, He is Kwon Jiyong when not on stage, shy person but he's GDragon when he's on stage, beast on stage. Not only him thou all Bigbang members have different persona when it comes to their solos. Like they separate their status as Bigbang and their solo works and in real life. Yk what I mean, they don't have celebrity disease,they don't live up to what fans expected from them or thoughts of them. They are just too real reasons why they're always the target of KMedias cause they dgaf,they don't care.

It gave me chills and i wish i listened to them in order to understand the story better. I love that they dont live up to what fans expected because we don't need any more of those artists. @@kjreacts7715 💯 absolute. They once said it's fine for them if they stan other groups or artists vips can go 😂. Kpop is very diff from western artists. Kpop is a harsher world where fans are obsessed with them,to the point they have stalkers in real life,it's called sasaeng in Korean. And Kpoppies thoughts of that they owned their faves. Fans sends trucks in front of idols company's. to protest their dislikes or anything towards an idol or a company. We vips are thankful that our fandom never did those things. And we respect Bigbang personal lives and as an artist, unlike in the 3rd generations of Kpop until now fans disliking their faves if they have a bf or gf,reasons why Kpop idols hide their relationship to fans like if they're married or in a relationship. Bigbang never hides if they're dating or doing cigs,partying out their. If you don't know Taeyang is married w 1 child and vips were happy with it and we cheered for Taeyang when he revealed he's dating and getting married.

@@kjreacts7715 yo check out GD's collaboration with nike. GD had a 2 versions of AF 1 (called paranoise), and he launch hid own shoe with nike (KWONDO). we confused if GD is still musician or just a business man lol, we need him back now in music scene asap ❤️

It is like both personas can't exist without the other. GD has learned to appreciate Kwon Ji Yong and vise versa. Rant as much as you want, I read them and it gives me insight on your perspectives and feelings.

I saw a little snippet of what it is like when he performs back-to-back... it is sad and inspiring the way he carries himself still. You can see the stress and anxiety in his performances... During a state like that i feel you are more expressive

Ngl, I'm actually cried when I first heard this song. There is just some kind of sadness when he sings. It was such a difficult time for him during this era and we, VIPs are all worried for his mental health.

Just re-listened to this reaction and wanted to say how much I agree with your comments at the end. Although I'm generalky aware it would be the case, I have always thought of the song from his perspective, but when you said about his family I first fully appreciated how he was talking to his mum in this song. Not just reasuring her about his welfare, but ALSO comforting her because he must know that what happens to him also impacts so heavily in his family. This is one of my favorite tracks of his, so appreciate this extra insight. Thanks.

A quick extra comment. Although his Kwon Ji Yong album was very successful, i read that YG said GD didn't write it with success in mind, but as something he wanted and needed to do. It may have been (and still might, but hopefully not) his last album as he was gojng into military serviceva, and so he expressed himself through this. It is very personal. And very amazing.

when you've observed him for a long time, you'll notice that he loses so much weight when he's stressed. he's already naturally skinny and has to workout to put some muscle tone, but man, you'll see his shoulder bones and ribs when he's stressed out. i fucking hate it for him last year. as some of the comments said, the police accused him of taking drugs. they said he's one of the celebs being investigated. HE FOUND OUT ON THE NEWS SAME AS THE REST OF US! the audacity of the police (in every damn country). I don't know if you heard of it; but at that time, actor Lee Sun Kyun was tested positive for drugs (don't know what kind)(EDIT: HE TESTED NEGATIVE, from the comment below); and in korea, the culture of shame is so major that it probably weighed on him too much -- he killed himself on dec. 27, 2023. when GD found out on the news that he was being "investigated," he publicly said that he would cooperate with the investigation. and because even now that he's not active musically, he's still one of the biggest worldwide celebs, the cameras and the tabloids were on him when he went to the police. all sorts of tabloids, malicious "journalists" and fans of other groups pointed out that he looks "unhealthy" or too thin or has mannerisms like a drug addict (he's really twitchy when he was young, but what do you expect when cameras are on him all the damn time when he's just walking and shopping?!). the worst thing though, is when they (the police and media statements) heavily implied that GD is gay coz apparently his legs are hairless (they do hair tests for drugs). in korea, that's almost as bad as drugs (and gay or not, GD would only get away with it because he's THE GDRAGON>). but you know why they're crying about how he's "unmanly" for not having leg hair? coz they already tested the hair on his head and his fingernails (i think?) AND IT WAS NEGATIVE! so they were like, let's test other hair from other places. my god it was a nightmare. so the tabloids were again saying oooh he's avoiding the test so he shaved his legs (morons); gd's had hairless legs since 2015 (i think? but i'm not sure). i remember the pics when he "cooperated with the investigation," and he had stubble! he doesn't normally go out wit stubble but the police wanted leg hair?! so it was a mess. the informant of the police (one person) later confirmed that she wasn't even sure gd was involved, she was just throwing out names. but the mess was already done and the online "journalists" as well as the major tv stations were on his case and the online tabloids were writing speculative think pieces (otherwise known as gossip). so GD hired a big shot lawyer who warned the tabloids and "journalists" to keep the speculations to themselves or else (but in lawyer terms). and then it was announced that gd left yg. and freedom! lol sorry for the essay again. but i hope we can finally have an album from them soon! and gd's been promising an album this year. i learned not to expect anything, but i'm still hopeful.

Lee Sun Gyun didn't test positive for drugs either, that's why you don't know what he tested positive to. He was being blackmailed by the woman who gave his name to police. He wasn't doing drugs, but he had spent time with that woman in a club and possibly her house. Because he was married it was a scandal. The woman herself was a long time drug user and trying to get herself out of trouble with the police by naming other people. Lee Sun Gyun was also blackmailed by another woman who was a friend and work colleague of the first woman. Between the blackmail and the police and media relentlessly hounding him about being a 'drug addict', he made an irreversible decision. It was incredibly sad. Thankfully GD who was wrongfully accused, chose to fight hard and cleared his name.

Yes thank you both for the information. I always am happy to learn and read no matter how long it is. You take the time to write it out so I will take the time to read it as well. Great information as well. It is crazy too because i watched the made movie and at the end at one of his concerts GD was having a heat stroke and still kept performing. It was due to his body being fatigue and worn out. Doing big shows with all the stress they are under to do their best for the fans plus not being able to sleep. So for people to label him as a drug addict without even understanding what he is going through is crazy. With social media people think they can say and do anything and its disgusting the damage people do on others. Also, I mean it can't be fans in asian countries that think he his gay or trying to hide from the drug allegations because its known that asian people normally don't have hair on their legs. They have such a shame culture that they don't do those things for that fact. But i think when people actually start to use their brains, they would understand those little things. I wonder how he is doing today...

It must be really tough for him then he's thrown under the bus by YG after helping that company get to where they are now. Disgusting

If I'd be honest, you know I admire how you analyze and dive deeper with BB songs. This song gives so much comfort to VIPs and an inspiration to aspiring idols and artists. I maybe too late to be a VIP but I'm glad I have started collecting group and solo albums including this KWON JIYONG self titled album of GD. Super worthy!
