Important tip: In order to cook rice perfectly you need to use the right measure of water. Different rice varieties require different measure of water. Some 1:1, some 2:1 (2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice) etc. This seems complex but there is an ancient tried and tested trick that we Asians follow and it works everytime, regardless of the type of rice and size and shape of the container. The trick is to make sure that the water level is about an inch above the rice in the vessel. You can dip your index finger into the vessel and check if the water level is until the first finger joint or crease. This is roughly an inch. In short it's an inch of water above the level of the rice. That's it!!
