I think my thrift wish list items are a good pair of blue denim shorts, long skirts, boxy loose tank tops like the ones you showed, and flowy dresses!

Being in a cooler Spring climate (it was 37 degrees when I left for work this morning!), I find myself loving lightweight sweaters with springy patterns like daisies and ice cream cones. I also love a good floral embroidered grandma sweatshirt. But my absolute must have is allll the jean jackets.

Your spring and summer style is actually very similar to mine! I also love to wear flowy maxi skirts when it gets hot outside, as well as colorful button downs with a basic white or black tank top underneath. The more colorful, boxy tank tops are also a favorite of mine, sometimes I even wear them as a going out top. I wish I could wear my shorts more, but I rarely do because I work in an office and we have a dress code. Not excited for the heat, very excited for the fashion.

Love the button up shirts! I've been able to get a steady haul of men's cotton/linen button-ups second head, and I especially look out for aloha-ish prints. That "Blossom"-esque hat blasted me back to the past. It would look good with a flower pinned to it, if you really want to embrace the 90s.
@teresacarle2949 ай бұрын
🎉🎉 Love BUCKET hats 🎉🎉, esp. brim turned up 🌺Blossom Style 📺. The 90s were such an absolutely fabulous decade for ultra feminine hats. It was something you could find all over the mall in those days too. 😬I've got a big head, so nowadays I often scour the Men's Dept for bucket hats. Even better to buy them end of season or during the off season for best price. A pretty 🌸silk flower would be a playful way to feminize a more masculine utilitarian version too. 😉One of these days, I'll actually try my hand at sewing a double sided bucket hat. 🧢I also like to wear caps. In my years working at Disney, I bought one in every conceivable color & quirky character. Ideally, would like to wear a natural woven Fedora style one day. Have a few felt Fedoras in black, navy, & emerald green〰️but haven't had any luck with the lightweight sunny versions. Something has always been off about them. 👒My collection of wide brimmed sun hats always seem more suitable for dresses than skirts/shorts. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I live in Norway, we have cold winters here in the east, higher up over the sea limit, a lot of snow and it last about 4 mnd a year. Summer is not that warm here, ecept Juni. People here have way to much dark colours, unisex, and oversized clothing. I like your american spirit, Disney clothes ( i am a fan of Donald Duck and Oncel Scrooge and also Betty boop) and cristmas sweaters. (the tastfull ones) We dont have much of these styles in this part of the world, so thats fun to see.

Perfect pair of denim shorts for me ... High-waisted, dark wash, straight leg (because my thighs are 2-3 sizes smaller than my waist, to the point that "skinny" jeans don't usually touch my legs if I buy the right size), 8-9 inch inseam with a sewn hem or 11-12 inches with a raw edge.

My perfect pair of shorts.. I hate to admit.... 🫣 But I'm obsessed with Abercrombie's dad shorts! Last year they had 8" inseam shorts that I LOVE!! I purchased the new dad style this year that's 5" and I actually really love them too! Their denim shorts have been my ultimate favorite so far, even though they're kinda thick for summer, but I haven't found anything else that I love more yet. 🖤 Right now the weather has been so back and forth where I live, and the cooler weather is spoiling me! I'm not looking forward to the heat this summer. 🤣 Thank you for this video to inspire me for warmer weather fashion! 💛

Still looking for the perfect swimsuit, but I have three. Lands' End tankinis work for me, but finding patterns I like is hard. Thanks for the video!

Great video! I have that bucket hat. For spring and summer I like skorts. The longer styles protect the thighs like 9” Bermuda shorts but are way easier to thrift. And there definitely are different grades of polyester! Woven fabrics seem much more breathable than knits.

Polyester is a fiber, meaning it's the string / the thread you then load into the weaving machine to create a bolt of fabric. How that machine weaves the fiber; the up-and-down pattern (there are hundreds of options right there), the tension and even the spacing set (a lot of "transparent" clothing is often from fabric where there is more physical space in between the threads, which is then why you can "see through" it). So when people talk about the pros and cons of polyester, how it was woven is like a whole other layer of consideration. Generally polyester's greatest advantage is it can be super versatile; meaning you can engineer it much more precisely then organic fibers to get it to do EXACTLY what you want it to do. So if you wanted a poly-blend to be breathable and airy, that is 100% possible and you could control on every fundamental step of development to turn it into exactly the touch, the breathability and the weight/drape you want it to be... But the major problem with polyester (besides environmental issues) is that 99% of the industry don't utilize it's potential. Because polyester is cheaper to produce then plant-fibers, most clothing manufactures only focus on the fact it is cheap and can be made EVEN CHEAPER if you're clever about it. This is why a lot of vintage polys feel "interesting" or have "surprising" properties; in the earlier days of it's manufacturing there was a heavy emphasis on exploring the possibilities and pushing the limits of the plastic-fiber to see what it could go beyond other fibers. You can still find some companies pushing these limits and exploring new ideas; Uniqlo has some poly materials that are meant to do very specific things, a long with many sports companies creating work-out gear that does neat stuff. From a purely fashion perspective, the most innovation continues to come out of Japan; the Japanese love creating polyesters that actually work very well for humid environments, which sounds really counter-intuitive but that's what makes them so fascinating. Overall, for anyone that found the above a bit overwhelming to consider, it is at the end of the day easier / more direct / more eco-conscious to stick with plant-based fibers in your clothing if you are looking for comfort, sustainability and consistent long-lasting wear. But I would encourage while thrifting or shopping to always keep your mind open for those polyester unicorns; the unique blends and weaving techniques that can create one of a kind textures or strange combinations of properties that are just physically impossible with plant-materials.

The pros that do colour analysis will not tell anyone to follow their season with draconian zeal, but what it does is explain why some colours look good and others don’t. It can predict what colour will work if you’ve never tried it before.

On the topic of summer hats, can somebody help me? I love what a hat adds to my outfit, it feels like a perfect finishing touch. In autumn/winter I usually opt for berets or newsboy caps, sometimes beanies. So I'd like to do the same for warmer weather. But I absolutely cannot find a style of summer hat that I like on me! Like, I strongly dislike bucket hats and baseball caps. And then wide brim hats look fine on the beach, but they make me feel like a farmer if I wear them with regular outfuts. I've searched Pinterest for other summer hat ideas, but I've found nothing so far. Please, help if you have any suggestions.
