When I was in my 20s I absolutely loved high heels snd still have them but Im slowly going thru them and parting ways with them.. Im 47 now.. while I think they are still beautiful.. Ive turned to chunky heels, loafers.. lol. I have to be able to walk a distance! If I were to turn to heels again.. I draw the line at 2.5 in maybe 3..

Fair enough too. I actually did the same thing with heels. When I'd part with a pair I'd replace them with something different and generally fairly flat. In fact I think that's when my sneaker addiction started lol x

I had to pause to comment.. i love slip on clogs.. i was wearing some yesterday w socks and so cozy.. and yes to kitten heels.. i think they are so sophisticated in a quiet way.. ive worn stilettos for years.. im 53 and transitioning away from heels to more comfortable but still stylish options suitable for my lifestyle.

Definitely prefer a slimline loafer over a chunky one for me but avoid buying with hardware as it gets ruined so quickly. I've a pair of slimline ones without the hardware and they are so elegant ❤

I agree 100% and was kind of shocked that she wasn’t suggesting the slimline option for longevity. I agree the hardware can cheapen them, but without that I think a slim loafer has more staying power.

Not all winter weather is wet. I live in Minnesota, and wear Uggs all winter long. It's too cold to get wet. But even if it did, Uggs are actually more weather proof then you think.

32 here and have been loving kitten heels this last year. I love the comfort and feel more elevated with the pointed toe. I just love my feet and not willing to put them through the pain of anything over 2.5 inches.

I have those exact Doc Martens. Had to run about a mile at Osaka airport in them. Put the sling back up and made the connect. Very comfortable and well worth the purchase!

@thestyleinsider Hi from Aus! I totally agree on comfort over heels. A huge Doc Martens fan myself, the clogs recently caught my eye and just (in my opinion) look better than the Birk equivalent. I had no idea they were "in"! I always remember a quote from a Doc Martens history book, which said something along the lines of "Docs are better than heels, as heels make women look like they are teetering around like Bambi on acid!"

Agreed some things update and some do not and knowing a good cobbler to keep shoes fresh is so helpful. I find the shoes to avoid are those who crunch foot/toe and nails. Our 50 year old self with be thankful. So many women have bent toes/nails, knee/hip/back issues due to shoe choice and there are now brands that take that into consideration. I agree regarding the heels and I even appreciate a good platform heel or wedge but speaking with an orthopedic and focusing on my long term fitness it is easier to make that choice. Also if you've even needed to run or tore a heel off. Wonder if I can get a platform added to my loafers? I usually remove the hardware.

My old saying is “shoes set the tone of the outfit”. Nowadays, most people wear scruffy sneakers with everything, but I still feel my best in a pair of good leather shoes or boots, with mid-heels (I’m petite). During most of my previous fashion life, we didn’t mix casual and more dressy items, this is the biggest change I’ve seen in fashion in fifty years. We didn’t wear silk blouses or heels with jeans, for example, and only tees and sneakers or hiking boots, nor silk skirts with sneakers and tees. I welcome the new flexibility, but still don’t like how I look in sneakers with my skirts and dresses, which I wear most days, year-round, for comfort. Plus, I love a bit of extra height, say 2-2.5 inches, if the shoes are comfy.

I love this video, it’s got great information but I don’t like the idea of feeling the need to find something practical. Useful is great but “swapping out” slouchy boots for mini heel boots or swapping Ugg’s for slip on clogs is just silly because they are completely different shoes! I would just say here’s all the trends and someone likes them instead of here is a “better option”.
