Lovely collection Marija. I am learning so much from you and your collections. The pot you purchased at the yard sale looks fantastic with its new companion. Thanks for sharing.

I absolutely love these plants my collection is now at 87. Also the first two pots you showed you have their names mixed up the first pot is "Stapelia Grandiflora" & the second pot is "Stapelia Gigantea" & the last one you showed is actually "Orbea Variegata" many call it Huernia,but it's not a Huernia species.

Look at you!!!!!! In winter this Orbea variegata was so bad and now they thrive. Well done Marija. This make me so happy. I love Stapelias and Huernias too. They have beautiful blooms and the plants look awesome. Please make a video when they bloom.

I really liked seeing the Asclepiads. They are among my favorites by far. The mystery Huernia with the spiral growth habit is very unique. I did find it very funny that my Asclepiad collection is in the same structure yours is in! Handy to hang lights on in winter. I really hope your new plants grow well for you. Orbea speciosa grows fairly quickly for an Asclepiad.
@succulentlivingbymarija88726 жыл бұрын
Fish&Cars I hate that structure 😄. It’s not as good as my other one. Same dimension but crap plastic. It bended and broke on left side as soon as I got it... so I put only few pots on each shelve and leaned it on the deck and keep metal chair in front to keep it straight 😄. I just ordered it few weeks ago and they gave me money back. I really need green house 😏. In winter I use structure from ikea that’s more sturdy.
@fishcars80786 жыл бұрын
I have two. One all metal which is great, and one like you have there which I agree, is very flimsy. Mine has never collapsed or anything but I do prop it with a deck chair. So far it works, but little else. I do like that the layering let's me hang lights. A greenhouse is definitely in my future. Either where I live here or building it in WV on my family's property. It isn't a far drive and more room. Either way I'm going to get one!

Nice collection! I just got my first cactus, it's nickname is the domino cactus and it's starting to grow a bloom. Also you should do a plant haul from leaf and clay. You may have already but I don't remember lol. They sell really good products, you should try them
@succulentlivingbymarija88726 жыл бұрын
V Vvvv I did! This winter I ordered from them and last summer as well. My ghost euphorbia is from leaf and clay. I do like them better than fairyblooms site.

Hi a huge fan from Australia! Inspired by your staplias videos and decided to go buy and try out staplias today! Just a little worried about the smell of the flower 😆 thank you for your content. I always look forward to your videos! ❤️

Trong Dinh thank you so much! Good news, they don’t all stink! Huernia schneideriana and stapelia grandiflora were not bad at all. They say that Orbea Stapelia variegata is the worse! Which ones did you get?
@trong12646 жыл бұрын
Actually I got mine from a local seller who doesn't know the names of her succulents! However, she said it had red blooms and it doesn't have sharp spines like a Hurenia. So it might be the grandiflora thank heavens. I've also heard stapelia flavopurpurea smells nice but I can't seem to find it.

LOVE the new stapelia. It looks so healthy and green! :) Your collection is cute. They all have to start off small. ;) *edit* Its not that small! lol
@hankscactus39736 жыл бұрын
You have an amazing collection. Do you ever have flies or pests that pay too much attention to those plants? My Stapellia attracts flies, they even lay eggs on the tips of young pups. I do not see any of that going on with your plants. Hope your day is really good!

Hi again. I got a cutting off this life saver cactus and it's getting great roots but the place itself free really soft to the touch. I'd this how it's supposed to feel? I'm new to this cactus thing and really want them to do well. Any information would be helpful. It was outside where I thought it was too hot so I brought it inside. Help me please 😱
@succulentlivingbymarija88726 жыл бұрын
Kalesia Wright it could be it was stressed because of heat. They are not normally soft. Just watch if it is changing color or getting softer and give it little bit of time to adjust.
@ramicabranham66806 жыл бұрын
Wow!! I just got a cutting in the mail this past week that looks similar to what you have. Yay, thank you for showing your collection it gives me a small hint of what I've planted. Haha. As soon as it flowers I'll know for sure what it is. Do you keep your greenhouse open at night? I'm afraid bunnies will get into mine but on the flip side if I close it I'm afraid of the humidity.
@succulentlivingbymarija88726 жыл бұрын
Ramica Branham no I keep it partially closed/covered whole time because rain has been poring any time even when not in forecast
@ramicabranham66806 жыл бұрын
I hear ya about the rain, that's been a big thing too: running out and putting my cacti on the porch during unexpected down pours. Haha
@succulentlivingbymarija88726 жыл бұрын
Ramica Branham lol I can so relate to that. A week ago I heard rain at 5 am and woke myself up, ran outside half undressed like a crazy woman to cover all my succulents especially lithops 😄. That’s when I decided they will stay covered from now on!
@fishcars80786 жыл бұрын
I have a very similar small greenhouse that I keep some of my Asclepiads and Euphorbias in. Much like Marija said, I keep it partially covered if I am not home or asleep. It rains so frequently where I live that leaving them open all the time is just not an option and if often rains without warning. That being said, I was worried about humidity too and so far the plants have done fine, though I do use a small rechargeable fan inside of it to help circulate air. I think if you keep an eye on them, they should be just fine.
@fishcars80786 жыл бұрын
I have done this same thing! I will leave them open sometimes and run to the store or a quick visit to see family and friends and I will watch the radar like a hawk while I am away. If I see rain coming, I will call or text someone to close them up if possible. I probably worry about them more than I should.

Do you water Stapelia when they are just on the border between dry and humid, or are you waiting for an extra day or two after that? And do you water with a lesser amount when they are at that stage and then water more often since since use up the water faster then - or is it better to water so the water goes through the soil and then make sure to remove extra water so the roots do not rott? Also in it's sappling stage - do you keep the soil moist, or should it still dry up between adding more water?

lovely collection! may I ask what your soil mix is composed of?

Can you tell me where I can buy some huernias? Please
@fishcars80786 жыл бұрын
Any specific species you looking for? The best retail places I've seen for Huernias and other Asclepiads are arid lands greenhouse, planet desert, and a few sellers on eBay and Etsy. But you have to watch some eBay sellers sell mislabeled plants and improper seeds. Sellers I've had positive experience with are tropicaltheatre on eBay, sobesucs on Etsy, beautiflorist on both eBay and Etsy, paradisefoundnursery on Etsy, and there is one seller on eBay based in Texas who sells all manner of Asclepiads though I can't remember their account name. His stuff is usually very rare and nice, however it's expensive. Google a few of the places and search eBay. I'm sure you can find some that will interest you. I've had to special order almost all of my collection. Local places just do not carry them. Hope that helps.

Fish&Cars thanks I'm actually starting to collect I have just one and I've fallen in love with them I wish I could find more and I would like to find people who collect so I can learn to take care of them. I wanted one for my birthday in two weeks something different if u have any that u can sell me I would really like that

I collect Huernia, Stapelia, Orbea, and Euphorbias almost exclusively. I don't pretend to be an expert but I can try to help you all that I can, and Marija's channel is a great place for pointers. She is extremely helpful. Contact me at my email metallica25570@yahoo.com and I will help you with advice and help you locate some plants. Unfortunately I'm not in the business of selling them, though I do occasionally swap pieces with others. I'm always happy to meet others who are enthusiastic about these plants.
