I want to go to Johns Hopkins and I’m starting high school any tips?
@KellenVu5 жыл бұрын
Throughout high school, try to make memories that you can tell stories about! Those story-worthy experiences will come in handy for essays and interviews in the future. For me, those story-worthy experiences included founding a charity, winning a poetry-reading competition, and starting a band with my friends.

I’m a sophomore and I have the same concern. I just transferred to a better high school in another state that would offer more resources/classes, but I have no idea how to find opportunities for awards or charity related things. I’m planning on volunteering in the children’s hospital but I am worried if I will have no time as I am on the tennis team and am in orchestra. I use to be on the debate team and wanted to join Model UN but can’t. What should I prioritize to get into JHU?? Oh, also, when should I begin studying for the SAT? (sorry for asking so many questions)

@@Warlock12347 First, take a deep breath. I can tell that you're passionate and ambitious, and those qualities will take you far in life no matter where you end up going. When you realize that everything is going to be alright, things get a lot less stressful. Second, don't over-commit yourself. Your mental health (stress) and physical health (sleep) should take priority. If you need to decide between two activities, ask yourself, "Let's forget about colleges for a second. Which one would be more fulfilling for me?" Remember, your extracurriculars are for _you,_ not your college. I took my SAT in March of 11th grade. I started studying for it about a month before, mostly by reviewing math on Khan Academy. JHU also recommends (but not requires) that you take subject tests. Those will probably take more studying, but it worked out for me because I took the US history test and the literature test right after taking AP US History and AP English Literature.

Enjoy your high school life. Do something you genuinely have passion for instead of making and crafting smart extracurriculars. As long as your pursue your passions, it will be shown in your app.

Did you apply for financial aid? Or did they just give you a scholarship?
@jeevaprem78275 жыл бұрын
Hey, Kellen just had a question. I'm really looking forward towards Johns Hopkins University and wanted to know if you applied for financial aid or was the scholarship that you received based entirely on academic merit. And also does Johns Hopkins easily give out aid or scholarship for merit thanks a lot for the video
@KellenVu5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeeva! Yes, I did apply for financial aid. But the Hodson Trust Scholarship is based only on academic merit, not financial need. In general, high-tier schools don't offer many merit scholarships, but the good news is that their financial aid is typically reasonable.
