Awesome artist. I hold a special place in my heart for Emperor, it brings me back to my teenage times of tape trading and bootleg chasing, discovering these "new" obscure underground bands was a delight. For me Ihsahn is to Black Metal what Schuldiner is to Death Metal, both brilliant artists that became masters of their craft. Cheers from Morocco.

Absolutely a nice intelligent fellow, no poser although being a legend..quiet guy. Quorthon was great and is immortal for metalists just right because of that what Ihsahn shows here. Clever gentle man then you went on stage and frighten those who are not aware of black metal frontman. Extreme in purity. Once gentle, twice the wild hog 😜👏👏👍🙋🏻♂️

I know most people prefer the sound and feel of the original album recordings but, the Live Inferno reunion album is how Emperor actually sounds. It doesn't get much more powerful than that. The studio album productions never did them justice.
@AnCapDanny Жыл бұрын
I agree. I wish the early albums had more of Ihsahn's guitar toward the front of the mix. Samoth's guitar lines are also great, but they overpower Ihsahn's guitar a lot of the time.

@@dhulkhalasa_True. I do think it would be cool if they re-recorded the first album. Don't get me wrong, I love how the original sounds, but they have played it live, all songs, so often, in the last 20 years, that a studio modern release would fit like a glove.

The true magic is that their whole career to date is based on albums recorded in the past century. And that's not bad, very few musicians ever achieve that.
@ashtweth Жыл бұрын
He writes the most sophisticated black metal of all the other Norse /black metal bands, just the composition and atmosphere, its chaotic, classical and original. .Unless you're a Musican you won't fully appreciate the technicality and how his black metal is not primitive and is the most musical. He even matured about all that satanic crap, which not many in his genre realise (unless its too late). Look, he practically invented the highest standard in black metal, no one writes riffs as technical or as complicated. Not even Darkthrone can match his atmosphere. Sorry. He did the best work in the genre. Its no surprise that Iron Maiden/twisted sister influenced his approach. Melody and balls. Sums up Emperor too (haha). If only they can make black metal with decent themes in it like Wolves in the throne room (about the environment ) do, ISHAN, would clean up if he did an activism band, he has that vibe about him.
