Depression is something that has a stigma on both side of the suffering. As a male to admit you have a ' mental illness ' is a hard thing to do. Social connection to the understanding of how to deal with someone going through depression has been made even more difficult with the lack of real connection bought on by the falseness presented in social media streams selfies and pouts. The development of self love is what will secure a grounding and protection to the " black dog " episodes. Developing the concepts of mindfulness is a technique that is has the wealth of ages in its proof of concept to its effecy. All the best with your journey, great message to remind people to check in on your fellow man iwith a real connection of love and vulnerability. Regards Russell

Logan, you should read the book "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. When you quiet your mind, you can get at the source of your mental illness. That is how it happened for me. It can work for you.
