I have just started doing the mini twist. I kept them in for a month, washit it, deep conditioned, added oils and curl souffles or twisting creams. (Moisture moisture moisture) Within 2 to 3 months my hair has truly grown and thicken up a lot. I really want more length so this style works great for me. 💜💜

I have learned 2 weeks maybe 3 weeks is the longest I can leave this style in anything past that my hair will dread up. But I find that it's working for me instead of setting a style every week. I set for every 2 weeks So every 2 weeks and I wash and deep condition while my hair is still in the twist. only to detangle my hair while I deep conditioning so that I can get my hair ready to be re-twist for another 2 weeks. So far so good. So my mindset is instead of every week styling style every two weeks meaning I only manipulate my hair every two weeks on wash day.

@@vee3133 not really because I wear wig with my twist so I never really paid attention. I also incorporate fresh aloe Vera with my routine. I mix aloe Vera with my leave in conditioner, some jbco, and jojoba oil then apply to soaking wet hair and your hair will thank you. I’ve seen more retention in two months than I’ve seen in a year.

Mini twists were my fav the first time I went natural from 2005-2011. I gained so much length especially once my hair reached a certain length where I could keep them in for a few weeks at a time. I big chopped for the 3rd time in March 2020. I'm planning to do individual spring mini spring twists to rock for 2-3 months. I love that there are so many more options and that I can create the same look as I did 15 years ago without the shrinkage!
@CoilyDiaries3 жыл бұрын
Wow! Sounds like a great strategy. I used these most of 2020 to grow My hair and loved my results. Why are you big chopping agin if you don’t mind?💕
@Selflovematters4life3 жыл бұрын
I mini chopped in Oct 2018 after my hair began shedding and thinning. I noticed a change around August 2018 but could not figure what was going on. My vitamin d and iron both became really low and I didn't realize it. In March of 2020 I decided to chop it shorter (after shaving my sides and back in Jan 2019). I've been allowing it grow out through protective styles for the last 10 months. I have a full head of hair again..LOL. Now my goal is to grow it out for the next two years and loc it in 2023 when I turn 50.

@@CoilyDiaries mini braid last longer but mini twist has more volume. I prefer mini braid because I'm able to wash it more often and I realized that keeping my hair hydrated increases the elasticity and its easier when it's time to loose it. After I saw"the brazen goddess" washing hers often I tried it and love it. But I don't wash as often as her, I wash only once a week or for the most twice.

Yessss!!! This is the stuff I want to see! 😂 Subscribed. I have type 4b/c I’ve been doing mini twists since quarantine wish I hoped on sooner. So much easier. I wish mine were like yours mine are thicc! Could you do a video demonstrating how you deep conditioning your twists? I have yet to master it. You’re so pretty by the way 😍
@Violet0902984 жыл бұрын
My strategy is sealing my ends! I take a thick product and retwist the ends and sometimes half way up if my hair is looking locked up and then put oil on them to seal them. I do one stand at a time, it take me less than 15 min. My twists are more bigger than yours but not too big. The roots don’t get much love till the end of the month 😂but I do spray light water on them and oil my scalp

Truly grateful 🙏

BlueFlowers sounds interesting. With these long term styles the sealant is usually as important as the moisture so you don’t need to keep remoisturising! I feel like sometimes we do too much to our scalp it just wants to be left alone to breathe sometimes 😅

Lol...I was into twist too, but I stopped twisting because it made my hair shorter than it was. Currently in mini braids for NBBRuth's two months challenge. But there's definitely difference between the two hair styles because I could easily get products into my hair in twist than braids as braids have my curls tightly locked against each other. Considering going back to twists.

Interesting what you have pointed out about product not going through while hair is in braids. I have the same issue. Twists work better for me but I might make them bigger next time😅. Ruth’s challenge is awesome 👏

Clara Roberts I do mini braids too, but I uses a light leave in while my hair is dripping wet in the shower (I use Taliah waajid green apple leave in) I tries to use a product with aloe in the first 3 ingredients for moisture the I allow my hair to dry until what is considered towel dry hair and then I add a light weight butter like camillerose aloe whipped butter and I have no problems with getting the moisture in them
