I would agree in so far, that they sometimes use a background track when the dancing doesn't allow singing or they do adlibs in their own solo songs. But they usually don't move their lips in those parts, so it's no lip syncing. There are some music shows that look like playback, but I think that wasn't their choice and the members are rather bad at lip syncing. Wasn't there a production sheet from an award show or something where everyone else was listed as full or partial playback, only BTS and Mamamoo were real live performers?

fake love is one of the most poetic songs i've ever seen written. the writing style and word choices, fantastic. on the surface, we automatically think this fake love is more a disappointment/complaint/blame towards someone else. many of us could've had experiences of being "loved" insincerely. and there are plenty of songs written about that. however, the genius of fake love by bts is that it's actually directed towards one's self. the general message of the song is questioning how much we try to pretend to be someone we're not so that we fit the standard of another and for them to end up loving/liking us. hence, the love we receive ends up being unreal because we lost ourselves in the process of acquiring it. it's a shout out to us that if we want to be genuinely loved, we must show our true selves... to understand our own selves...before we experience and receive genuine love. thanks, andrew and jordan! i wish to see more reactions from you both. 💜

oh that was nice, it's fun to see new people be "shooked" by bts lol just an fyi, fake love is more about trying to change yourself and concealing your true self to try to fit in a relationship! "I craft a beautiful lie for you" / "I try to become your doll by erasing myself" because you might think you won't be loved as you are, so you hide parts of yourself behind a mask. of course when you do that, you won't be truly happy and the relationship will eventually turn bad and break. it's the theme of the whole Love Yourself:Tear album 💜 "If it was for you, I could pretend that I was happy even if I was sad If it was for you, I could pretend that I was strong even if I was hurt Wishing that love is perfect as itself Wishing all my weakness is hidden In a dream that can’t come true, I raised a flower that couldn’t bloom" (from doolset)

Their songs can be interpreted in numerous ways and they always encourage fans and listeners to draw our own conclusions beyond their original intention behind a piece. For Fake Love, seeing how it’s part of Tear, it talks about how the person in the relationship is beginning to realise how they’ve changed themselves to fit what (they believe) their partner wants, effectively erasing themselves and putting up a façade just to keep the relationship alive. They realise how a love based on lies is fake and how both of them created something that doesn’t actually exists. In the end it ties in with the series in that not loving oneself leads people to be willing to change themselves at their core if it means people will love them, because they believe themselves to be unlovable as they are or believe they have to be a certain way to be loved.

"Fake Love" actually is about how a person changes who they really are to fit into their partner's idea of how they should be. You don't want to be seen as weak or upset or vulnerable to that person, out of fear they won't still love you like that - so you hide your true feelings and true self just to maintain the relationship because you love that person so much (hence, the choreo where JK tears his shirt up: ripping your own clothing to show your passion)...but then you realize since the other person doesn't know your true self, they aren't in love with your true self, so it's really a 'fake love' But the official music video points out the different levels this song operates on: BTS hiding their weaknesses from ARMY, so our love for them is a kind of fake love; BTS (or anyone) hiding their weaknesses from themselves, so we don't truly love ourselves as we are; etc

Yup fan chants are a part of Kpop fan culture in general. Yet another way BTS show their Kpop roots even if they have transcended the industry. They actually go back to a really famous old ballad singer I want to say in the 90s. He had a part of a song it became the thing to chant part of the lyrics back to him. It kind of grew and spread until now groups release official fa chants before even the first time it’s performed live so their fans can know their part in the song. Sometimes fans will also make their own to songs without official chants or change it for special occasions like Birthdays. One of the most famous fan chants is for TVXQ’s song “Mirrotic.” It’s a very famous song and has killer vocals so pretty much every boy group has covered it. It doesn’t matter who is singing it or what fans are listening EVERYONE knows it’s and chants with passion! Even I’ve only ever heard like 3 TVXQ’s songs, but have learned it and can do it because you can’t hear the song without the chant

Great reaction Andrew and Jordan! Hello Jordan and welcome! Looking forward to your next two songs. It is so interesting to see what a musician notices/picks out first in a song reaction. You two had the perfect balance of insight and humor.😀 Andrew perfect song/video choices!😁 Way to hook and reel him in. Journey on... 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Dudamel deserves a fanchant. Guys, this was so fun! Your chemistry is perfect, and I felt like I was hanging out with friends. #BringJordanBack MMA performance: When all the lights turn on inside their boxes, the boxes spell out "PERSONA" - which if you recall, is what Jung compares to masks we wear. Thus their use of masks. Also "mask" is in the lyrics, as is the concept of being a "doll." Therefore, they are like dolls or puppets before they begin performing. Also performing in boxes: Trying to fit oneself into someone else's ideal. (Theme of the song) Really appreciated your feedback on the songs and the performances. That's what ARMYs appreciate. 🙌 Looking forward to part 2!! 💜 CFA

PERSONA!! I knew it had to spell something and I was trying so hard to figure it out 😅 Thank you for that. Haha. And I completely agree about Dudamel!

Thanks Andrew for inviting your former student, it was great to see both videos through his eyes and to listen to his comments, Jordan was the perfect guess. It's always fun to watch new people get a glance of BTS and see how it usually does pick their interest. 💜🧡💛

It was the dancing that first caught my eye. For a while, I had an image file in photoshop and I started trying to fill in the names underneath (I learned that there are few photos with a classic looking image of all seven). I always knew RM. After awhile, I got to where I could tell who was who in a still, then in a video and now, I can mostly tell by voice. The kindness they project, along with the joy, the acceptance of all -- what do we need more today? And, then, there is the incredible talent. They are far more than pop. I'm 66 and I'm ARMY.

Andrew thank you so much for posting this video! I needed this today since I'm stressed from midterms week and I really enjoy your reactions and interpretations. Also side note but I LOVE your wife's reactions and interpretations, like she is so amazing and smart (I know she isn't in this video but I just wanted to through it out). She notices stuff that I don't (even if i watched the videos over and over) and when you guys talk about it, its so cute how excited you both get! I'm so glad that Jordan reacted to this and I can see that you taught him well, can't wait to see him in future videos!! Also because of you, I am more focused on the beats and rhythm of songs, like literally last night i just laid in bed and played BTS, I would hear the different instruments and sounds. Thought I am not a musician, I love that you explain the beats, it's making me love the production side of music! So thank you for your reactions, I hope you are doing well and sorry for this long message!!

Loved watching you show Jordan his first BTS songs, and ON is a great one to start with especially the KMF. I Love that video not only because of BTS, and the song but also the marching band, I love the drum section!. If no one has told you yet the Korean music shows there are a couple different shows that are on weekly that the KPOP groups debut, or have the their comeback stage. When they are on these shows the fans learn all of the chants for that song from saying names, lines, feedback it is always fun to watch. All of the kpop groups have them. (With covid it was so odd not to have the fans there chanting when groups were on the music shows). Most of the kpop groups do almost all of the shows, and do them for at least a week to 3 or 4 weeks (New groups are on longer, the more established groups only do a week or two) so they have to do a lot of practice and a lot of shows. The award shows have amazing stages!

Also, can't wait for you to watch MMAs/MAMAs live performances, they are over the top amazing! 2019 Dionysus is 🔥🔥 Recommend watching with someone to share the excitement! The fan chants are so fun, and clever. It makes the concert a shared performance by involving the crowd, and is part of why the concerts are so chill-inducing and intimate feeling! Those liveplay theatres on March 12th will be LOUD! (More so for the fans in Korea who have to clap and whisper only!!) Beware anyone trying to watch a movie in a nearby theatre! 👀

I believe close to the end, I heard another guy get pulled in by the "Jimin affect". Jordan, once you Jimin, you can't Jimout. BTS being appreciated for their lyrics and artistry is music to my soul. These men helped me through COVID PTSD over the past 2 years as an RN. I love that you are being sucked into the rabbit hole that is Bangtan and 💜🅐🅡🅜🅨⁷⟬⟭💜.

Jordan should definitely come back to do more reactions. ON and Fake Love are fundamentally connected despite being two years apart, and both have their roots in the psychological and philosophical explorations that started with Blood, Sweat and Tears in 2016. As ever, the songs are layered. For me, Fake Love is about a lot more than just disillusionment growing within a romantic relationship. It’s about the masks we adopt to function within all sorts of relationships in our world (so related to Persona) and the unease we experience as we come to recognise our self-deception (Shadow). It’s also about the way we construct our reality to manifest our desires, or our pre-conceptions of what our desires should be (“I grew a flower…” etc.), and about how fragile that construction is. It’s also worth mentioning that Fake Love dates from that period when they were really struggling with the pressures of massive success and considering whether they should disband or try to power on through. It’s interesting to play Fake Love and Outro:Tear back to back.
