Actually, it wouldn't fit in with Subnautica because it's based off survival - life. Pure, genuine life. Yes, it has the sci-fi undertone, but still. 'Nightmare by Design' worked because it was about FNAF, where all the animatronics' bodies are artificial and manufactured.
