@@MissSothePeacefulObserver if you want an in-depth expose about how bad processed sugar is for us, read Metabolical by Robert Lustig, MD. It seems that sugar could have been invented to literally kill us! It is not trivial or harmless. Good luck on breaking free. Don’t worry if there are relapses along the way. Start over again and keep on going. Like quitting tobacco, eventually the cravings disappear and you will be free at last! Pax.

Dear Holly, it's amazing how I found you. I am a new subscriber, I am 60 years old and live in the Netherlands. It feels so good how much recognition and connection I feel in your videos. I was also raised by a narcissistic mother and this week I received the book by Karyl Mc Bride which I had ordered because I have been walking around with questions all my life that I can't find the answer to, especially the eternal guilt and please behavior. And what a coincidence that I see the book listed in the links. I have no friends or family with whom I can talk but your videos make me feel understood. And last but not least you look AMAZING! This topic about sugar fits me completely, I am really addicted to sugar and always feel tired, so stopping is definitely worth a try. Please continue making your videos I love them. I've been keto for 6 years, and the difference will surprise anyone who hasn't tried it. I highly recommend it. One way to make the best of this challenge is to avoid carbohydrates and focus on eggs, meat, cheese, fish, and fowl. Think of it as eating only the best parts of meals, and avoiding the 'filler' stuff. Starchy vegetables and legumes will trigger cravings. Fruit even more so, as it has fructose which is actually worse than regular sugar - harder for the body to deal with. Every long once in a while I will, as I call it, get "stupid." Holiday, special occasions, etc. And like you, Holly, the body will remind me how much better I feel without carbs, which makes it surprisingly easy to get back on the keto path. Also, a bonus I've experienced is when my body has adapted to ketones, I get an extra 'gear.' Mental clarity, more sustained energy, and improved immunity, better quality of sleep, aches and pains subside, and more. If the thought of missing out on your favorite mistakes is uncomfortable, just know that comes from glucose cravings and sheer force of habit. If it makes you feel better, remember: All those delicious and actually dangerous goodies will still be there for you after a month. But after a month, it will surprise you how easy it gets to let them go.

Silent on this one. Stopped smoking 40+ years ago, stopped alcohol 4 years 4 months and 4 days ago. Never eat anything with artificial sweeteners or sweet alcohol substitutes. Have limited refined and added sugar as much as possible. Adding milk to my coffee makes it more than sweet enough. Went to Vanuatu for a week recently. No added or refined sugar for a week. Energy levels plummeted. Brain fog hit . Withdrawal was bad. Was saved by the big selection of organic whole fruits, berry slushiest( just ice and berries no juices), sweet potato and organic meals. So I am sitting on the fence in the middle, limit what I can ( high quality chocolate and gelato are my Achilles heel). Best of luck to those accepting the challenge.

Sugar and carbohydrates are what I’m supposed to stay away from. But, I’m only 65, so you and I are young. Perhaps I should get started. I just know, that if you really try? Especially if you are like my wife? Prone to symptoms that just come and go? You can spend forever going to the doctor. The eye doctor, doesn’t really know so he tells us to run a washcloth with hot water, fold it, and every night, for ten minutes, lean back and place it on your eyes. It’s supposed to help with that. But hunny (that is what I call my wife), hunny if you did that for every doctor? You’d be doing something medical dern all the time. When you get old, you have to take some such chances, not to follow doctor’s orders, if you want to have a life.

American doctors for the most part have no idea about nutrition. They spend 95% of the time in school being taught by drug reps how to keep people sick and dependent on medications. Why else would they still be recommending fruit and grains to diabetics when we've known for over a hundred years that type 2 especially can be controlled by diet and type one diabetics can cut their insulin use dramatically if they don't eat carbs.
