+SpeaksIt I am not sure if there is a recording studio in Chiang Mai, but I do know that the city is filled with many creative people who are probably into music just like you. Also there is a sick jazz bar in CM that does open mics once a week.

hi Pat, the link does not work. I end up on your site, but it says the content has been moved or deleted. I really would like to know where this is you are staying at for 80$ a month. I am in Chiang Mai right now and I need to find a cheap place to stay for a couple of months. I'd be so greatful if you could tell me where that place is!

This video does something very important for me as an American. There's opportunity, and there's value out there, not just that country but in the world, and even in pockets of America. I sometimes pigeonhole myself to thinking in tunnel vision. Thanks for opening my mind a little bit and seeing the huge opportunity. I haven't seen huge opportunity and value but I haven't really looked hard and in the right places.

When I travel alone. I'm like you. All I care is to have a very clean, quiet place to stay. I'm ok with basic as long as is safe, quiet and clean. I don't like the shower/toilet concept at all. And I would like a small kitchenette. I've seen nice apartments for 200 a month that look like any small 1 bedroom apartment from the US. The only difference is that it's 1300 in the U.S and 200 in Thailand. I wanna stay for 3 months. No more than that.

In apartment living there, landlords are allowed to charge you almost double what the actual electric bill is. I know it happened to me. Best bet is to rent a house, the landlord gives you the actual electric bill and you pay it yourself at a 7-11.

Just found your channel, love the content so far! I'm planning a long-term solo vagabond starting this summer. This definitely seems like the way to go, not only is renting an apt usually way cheaper than hostels, but you have your own living space which I'm sure is nice. 2 questions: Do you usually live under the 3 month tourist visa in most places, or do you push for a visitor visa or some other kind? Second, have you ever dabbled with housesitting? This seems like the way to go in more expensive countries, eliminating shelter expenses from the budget.

I know that one can indeed call these minimalist rooms "apartments, but in fact they are little more than a Motel 6 efficiency or a dorm room with a small efficiency - read counter - called a kitchen. Most who are not simply 20 something and serious about actually relocating an establishing a home think of a more substantial apartment as being something akin to a living room, defined kitchen (not simply a gas burner!), bedroom, second bedroom or office, and maybe some sort of utility room in addition to a defined full bathroom. \ And this is NOT what these videos talking about "apartments cheap" are talking about!

It's very basic, but you pay for what you get and it is well worth $80. If you are willing to pay about $150 a month you should check out PP Condos they have modern rooms with partitioned off areas for bed so it doesn't seem like a studio, and an area with a sofa and flat screen tv and also a full modern kitchen, some of them are really smart for the money and they do have smaller rooms for similar money to what you pay now.

Bangkok is a little more expensive than chiang mai, when I stayed in chiang mai I paid around $250for a nice room/apartment for a full month and around $50 for wifi, water and electricity totaling $300 for the month. My room did have a stove top cooker and microwave however I rarely used them as street food and restaurants where so cheap most of the time they where used to reheat some leftovers or some packet noodles and snacks etc. It is a lovely country with friendly locals and I cant wait to go back to chiang mai.

pre planning my trip either going with Malaysia or Thailand? Cell Phone usage, Internet in apartment, Laundry. Oh do I have to find an agent for apartment rental or do is there a realtor or book on apartment finding? How long did you have to wait before moving in?
@PatDaley
@PatDaley 8 жыл бұрын
+Emerson Nolan I only have experience in Thailand so far, I've never been to Malaysia. Get a sim card for your cell phone at any 7Eleven (they are everywhere here) - Some apartments offer wifi included in the rent, sometimes its crappy sometimes its good. Laundry spots are everywhere here, very cheap (20 baht per kilo of laundry). I've never had an urge to hire someone to rent an apartment for me. You basically just walk up and ask the person in front of the apartment how much it is. I've waited a week to move in and I've moved in the next day at some places. I will be making more videos touching on these subjects as I feel like a lot of people will gain value from them.

Best pizza in Chiang Mai. My Studio is about 50 sq ft bigger with a balcony, microwave and coffee maker, plus we have a pool, but I also pay 5,000 baht (about $145 USD). 4,000 baht rent plus 300 for internet and usually about 700 more in electric. I have a 1 year Visa and can honestly say that I love Thailand. Seriously considering a retirement Visa when I'm old enough.

I just did a 2 month tourist visa - it's easy to extend it once you are out there to more than 2 months.

Hey man great video, how is the crime rate there? I've been to places down there that don't mess around, are you ever worried about coming back to your apartment with your door kicked down and all your stuff missing

Chiang Mai is very safe in my experience and all the travelers who I met had the same opinion. It's a big reason why CM is such a hotspot for nomads

Great Video Bro, there are so many questions I have personally. Beside your Complete Guide for Cheap Apartments, I was thinking about bringing up the idea for you to put out a newsletter, and for maybe a couple bucks a month, guys like me who are considering moving to Thailand might really need and enjoy? Perhaps, you are not interested in doing that but it would be a valuable asset to have before moving, and even an edition for people who already live there could benefit from your experiences and insights? Just a thought, anyway, I wish you great fun and much happiness.

I got the impression that they didn't care what I did or had in that apartment. That all varies with each different apartment complex though I am sure, but in general and from what I have experienced, Thailand is pretty laid back in that sense.
