Love that you speak about lube, tampons etc. so openly, people on KZbin usually apologise for the 'TMI' and giggle etc. which doesn't really help remove stigma. Also, I love YesYes, couldn't live without the stuff and love that there is no glycerin etc. You are such a sweet person and a great role model for younger girls. Keep up the great work! I’m so happy to hear an eco/ethical/sustainable person talking about tampons because a lot of people talk mainly about cups and the cloth pads at times. It’s nice to hear good options about tampons and that not everyone is just ‘only use cups and cloths pads coz everything else is bad’. So thank you for this, it actually is nice to hear it as I was slowly going insane with the whole ‘only use cups’ stuff.

I got my IUD in because my anti-depressants gave me a really bad side effect of having a constant period for a good 6 months (in total, yikes) and my doctors were concerned about me using my menstrual cup after it was inserted. It worked out fine for me, so here are my tips for it! 1. Make sure the string isn't in the way, or on the side of the cup so it doesn't get caught when the cup moves around a bit inside you. 2. Break the seal while it's inside if you can. It's easy to do with your finger, just don't pull down the cup because the string could move around. 3. Just be careful and cautious. I didn't get a chance to prep before hand and I couldn't afford pads or even reuseable options so! Prep if you can before hand and just be careful. My mirena iud has been great so far, and any time i've had to use my menstrual cup (which isn't often anymore, yay no periods) it's been easy and breezy because the string just kinda rests around the cervix and it's not really a problem. I've been using my cup for 7 years so I'm super familiar with how it works, so be familiar with how it works with you if you're new to it and are planning on getting an IUD!

Hey, I've had my kyleena IUD for almost 2 years now and I still have my period even worse than before the IUD. At first I blamed the abortion I had right before getting the IUD for giving me blood and cramps but it never got any better so would it be smart to have it taken out?
@FinsternisSan

@@carmenbaby This is something you should talk to your doctor about! I can only speak for myself and the basic knowledge my doctor and nurses have told me. The copper coil is different from the hormonal one (i have the hormonal one so my period isn't really there anymore), and it takes a while for your body to adjust which i was told and experienced. So talk to someone who can help just to make sure nothing is wrong and you're not experiencing any complications!

I love the alum stone, its the only deodorant that keeps me smell free all day. I will say that for it to work the I have to full shower and really kind of exfoliate or thoroughly soap up there for it to work, I can't do a birdbath and have it work. What a relief to find out that someone else with curly hair finds it more difficult to discover sustainable products for curly hair. I've watched so many videos where girls with smooth straight hair say things like, I just use solid shampoo and that is it, I don't need conditioner. Well I need conditioner people with straight hair don't tend to have as dry hair as us curlies do. And then they don't need holding products either.

You can also use washable fabric mestrual pads instead of a menstrual cup.. But - there is also fabric washable tampons. I have really heavy bleeding on day one and being caught in meetings all day not being able to go change at the bathroom frequently - or if Im wearing somrthing light on a summer day I want extra protection so then I combine the washable tampon and pad. Usually or on the less heavy bleeding days I only use the pads. Have been for 10 years. So worth the extra washing. Love how they feel on my body. Hate the disposable ones - I used to always have an unpleasant smell during periods and got some sort of bacterial inbalance often. But with the fabric ones - no odors no unpleasantness, superfresh etc.

I see tons of sustainability youtubers talking about refillable razers but no one talking about the alternative to waxing - sugaring. Sugar wax is made of only sugar, water and lemon and whether you do it yourself or get it done in a salon, its completely compostable (check with the salon for how they dispose of wax after a treatment). Would be great if you could spread the word for those looking for a sustainable hair removal option but prefer waxing to shaving!

By the way anyone that is scared by the rezor, try the leaf shave company. They are a bit costly (80€, but you can ask them for a product which has a beauty defect but still works, for around 50€). Its basically like a cartridge razor with a moving head, but you only exchange the blades. It has worked greatly for myself and it only nicked me when i had too sharp of a setting (determined by where you place the blade). Btw thank you for so openly talking about lube and periods, i hate the stigma of not being able to talk about such things.

Unfortunately, for me, and yes - it's not sustainable/zero waste/low emission etc - what works is the pill. I would otherwise be on prescription painkillers (and not the mild ones either) for seven days out of 28. I thankfully don't get mood swings etc, but the week itself I *cannot* survive without painkillers - i've given myself full stomach burns from my hot water bottle before and just not noticed because the cramping is so intense. It's a medical issue, which more women suffer from than you'd think - so if you have my problem, I seriously encourage you to see your GP, as it's not "normal", and you're not "being pathetic".

@@woolypuffin392 Yes I do... but it's combined with a few other things, including PCOS - so my GP and I effectively went "to hell with it" and instead of taking livia and several other drugs for other things, we just shut down the source of the problem - and I'm much happier for it! Thanks for the suggestion though, and it's all useful info for those still looking for solutions!

Yes! I have been on the pill 5+ years now, I finally got fed up with my mood swings, sudden & extreme hot & cold sweats, excruciating pain (causing vomiting), and constant tiredness (I would often sleep off two hours in the middle of the afternoon). I saw my GP after my 18th birthday was ruined by all of the above, and without question he prescribed me up! I do use the lunette cup as needed, although it's less often than ever since the nurse on my last check-up said guidelines have changed and we can now safely "skip periods" altogether by taking pill packs back-to-back..!

I actually use a diva cup and have a copper IUD, this a very minuet risk of the suction of the cup dislodging the cup but it of course it depends on the shape of your canal. Especially if its fitted properly. So far so good. If anyone's wondering!

About the deidorant i use it by years, and i live in Sicily, so we have really hot summer here. Try to use only that for a long time, without using scented alternatives. It works, it really works. 💪🏻

I worked for a CBD company last year. A tip if anyone was wondering what to look for when they're selecting a CBD brand - look for the term "FULL SPECTRUM". A google search will tell you more than I can but the higher quality oils will generally have that on the front of their packaging.

I don’t know why anyone in sustainable community hasn’t talked about “tragacanth” yet, but i just want to mention that it’s the best zero waste all natural hair conditioner ever. It’s a natural water-soluble gum, you put it in water and it turned into gel which you can keep in refrigerator, i use the gel with a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar as hair conditioner and wash it with lukewarm water afterwards and Voila. It’s quiet an ancient recipe in my country, you can also add coconut oil (or any kind of oil you want) to the gel and make a hair gel out of it (but never use it alone as a hair gel because it would flake badly).

I use that type deodorant and it does work for even in summer and I do live in Madrid (Spain), where we literally melt in summer 😂😂. I did have to get the hang of it though. I wet it roll it on dry it and put it away. I usually put it on twice a day. I'm dying to try out Zao! 👐 I think it ticks most if not all the boxes 💚💚

I personally am on Amethyst (a hormonal, all active tablets, birth control pill option). I need hormonal birth control for a few reasons. 1. I have problems with lactating (no kids, it was/is medication induced). 2. I have epilepsy that is made worse when I am not on a consistent level of hormonal birth control. 3. My health insurance won't cover IUDs (why I don't know as it would actually be cheaper for them in the long term). As for any breakthrough bleeding I use a washcloth (folded in half) as a pad and will hand wash them upon changing the washcloth out. Although, as I also have herpes simplix virus (HSV) I find that using a washcloth as an underwear liner has dramatically reduced my outbreaks making for a more comfortable life as an outbreak is quite itchy and burns quite alot.

Be aware with using coconut oil as eye make up remover. As it changes its form (liquid-solid and vice versa) it can accumulate behind your eye lids and cause further issues. Any type of stable oil, that stays liquid is a safer option.

I’ve heard people say this, but I’ve literally used coconut oil to wash my entire face for years now and never had any issues, even when it gets in my eyes. I don’t think it stays there, I think it’s just a little blurry for a second but I don’t get the impression it stays there or builds up or anything. Where are people getting this info that it hardens and clumps behind your eyes?

@@priscillamariekleven for me particularly I find that it bothers my eyes compared to almond and argan oil which I have also used. In the period I was using the coconut oil I was waking up in the morning feeling like a residue discomfort, which I used to think it's from my make up. Only after I changed I saw the difference. I also wear soft contact lenses and on several occasions I have been advices not to use coconut oil as eye make up remover.

I've got an IUD and I've been using my lunette cup for the last 4 or 5 years. 100% advocate for it. Also just want to put it out there to anyone watching that just because it didn't work for some women doesn't mean that a cup is contraindicated w an IUD!! Just try and be mindful of waste and then ultimately do what you have to to get through that time!! XX

It's nice to hear you talk about periods and period care. More people should. I came across a company called Nixit who make a sort of shallow, one size fits all menstrual cup that sits lower than a normal cup, ticks up behind your pubic bone. I'm tempted to try them as I cant seem to master my cups. The Yes company lube sounds good too. I don't much like the sticky stuff.

Hey! I love your work! For the alun stone, you can try the combo "alun + polmarosa essential oil" (if it is an essantial oil you can use and don't mind the smell of) it works whatever the season! You wet the stone then add just one drop of the EO and you apply it on your armpit

Love your videos !!! Just for info for me I have a IUD, and I use a cup. I asked to my gynecologist and she said it's all right, if you take off your cup correctly ! So just for people that think that this is not compatible, It is!! It took me two years to manage how to use my cup correctly ! For info I cut the little thing at the bottom and it helps a lot for me ! Anyway I completely get the fact that cups are not for everyone as I struggle for so long ! Hahaha Anyway thanks for your videos 😘😍

I have used the deodorant from a different brand( with cork packaging) and I did not like it simply because the consistency, even when I wetted it, was just not something I could get used to. It also caused irritation on my armpits , so I applied less and well, end of the story, there was essentially no deodorant left to protect me from stinking....Yikes!😂 So make sure you don’t hurt yourself with it.Love from Germany😘
