UPDATE: Sorry for the bad audio and crappy video quality, I’ve recently re-vamped this kit and also figured out horizontal recording. If you’d like a more up-to-date video on the kit I am using, watch the new video on my channel.

The truth is as others have pointed out is that Alice pack will work just fine with all else he has in this presentation. He obviously didn't try that out before making this post. It all goes and works together my friend.

I like ALICE GEAR, and bought used the format but eventually became frustrated with it's limitation and moved on to molle platforms. I don't like those mag pouches and that was the first thing I changed out, in transition. I like, comfortable with the belt with the holes for hanging an old style wire hanger on the leather 1911 holster. I think ALICE nostalgic feelings does not overcome the better MOLLE platform or format. Kit is always a work in progress.

Nothing wrong with Alice gear! I've done the same thing with the mag pouches. The only thing I'd disagree with you on is a med. Alice pack or a small day pack will work just fine with your set up. It was designed to work that way. Good video!

You can change the metal clips that hold the pouches with malice clips and if you add a foam pad/sleeve at the belt you will see big difference in terms of comfort. I still have and use most of my Alice gear too. Very nice presentation.

Usually I try to keep it without padding so o can throw it over heaps of winter clothing but also wear it with just a t-shirt in the summertime too. Lord knows those belts are impossible to adjust
@MountainRaider4 ай бұрын
@@CatholicGunGuy I understand your point. There is a belt extension buckle for the Alice belt . Try to search it , it might help you especially in winter time.

Got a lot of Army memories running Alice kit. You can modify the load out quite a bit for vehicle use, carrying various kit etc..

Consider some water purification tablets in one of those small pockets.
@CatholicGunGuy7 ай бұрын
that was a thought, yeah. i think im gonna carry a small pump filter in the buttpack, so i can filter as many times as i want to

@@CatholicGunGuy It's good to have multiples ways to get your water drinkable. Tabs are finite, but are a good option for when you don't have time to linger near a water source. Consider a CNOC outdoors bag for collection, as they faster to fill and more durable than the Sawyer bags. Also, a steel canteen or bottle can be used to boil water for potability. Pathfinder makes some good products like that.

definately gonna check those out, thanks@@logcabinschool

I highly, highly recommend that you get the vietnam h-harness, or even better the british PLCE harness instead. That y-harness frankly sucks ass. Trust me it's a world of difference. I know you're not using the alice clips but it's also really nice to have some padding behind the belt. You can just cut up a sleeping pad or yoga mat and tie it to the belt. Good setup. 🤙

Nice setup. I have a couple of questions. How were you able to fit so much on the belt? I adjusted the web belt as suggested (even had some thicker layers of clothes), and after that I can only fit one mag pouch and canteen on each side, and barely can fit the buttpack in the back. Also, I have the Woodland style buttpack, and it has a ton of excess material on the straps. Can you cut that off, would you advise just taping it down? If I left them, there would be several straps just flapping around dying to get caught on something. Thank you.
@CatholicGunGuy4 ай бұрын
If it really bothers you, tape the extra straps up. But before you do, pack that sucker as full as it can go so you can tell how much excess there really will be. Depending on your waist size, I’m surprised that all you can fit one canteen and mag pouch on each side. I wear a size 32 pants, and the belt that was in this setup was set to about 34 inches. I don’t really know what to tell you, try to scoot everything as close together as possible. Don’t be afraid to put stuff nearer to the front too, because having a empty front and full front makes no difference to me. Just experiment with things until you find something that works. And don’t go too slick as well, the whole point of belt kit is to carry more. Try watching my newer belt kit video as well to get some inspiration

@@CatholicGunGuy Thank you for the response and the advice. I will look at it again. I also am about a 34 waist. I'm not really a gear guy, so I might just need to work with it. I have a PC and battle belt, but found this ALICE at an antique store years ago, so I decided to finish building it out.

@@ordinaryavgguy no problem dude! yeah the biggest thing is just finding what works for you. personally, with the environment I’m in, I’d ditch the plate carrier to buy like, a velocity systems jungle rig or Smersh or carcajou tactical belt kit, but to each their own. Always glad to be of help
