My take on basic seam sealer

Simple single part seam sealers that the home shop guys will be using and comfortable with. Two parts are great but pricey and IMO overkill for many classics that will never see rain and see very little sun.

We used similar seam sealers on antennas on aircraft when I was in the USAF. One of the things we did to smooth it out without it sticking to our fingers was to spray windex on our fingers. Smoothing out the beads was a breeze.

I use lacquer thinner to do the smoothing. Doesn’t foul adhesion. Keep your finger wet. 🤓

I have as well and some will use wax and grease remover and usually not a problem but there are always the ones that somehow it soaks into the sealer or gets trapped in a pocket and doesn't reveal itself till later(if it happens). Kind of like the after effects of acid dipping a car. The 3M stuff will self level and make a nice curved fillet as it dries. It's also a little harder but at the same time sticks better than the regular stuff.

Thanks. You want a flexible seam sealer at any place where two panels come together. There is more flexing that goes on there that will pop regular filler off and cause a leak. However there is one exception witch will be in an upcoming video.

They are Scott ones so who knows. But I did buy that box after the toilet paper pockyclypse so they might have cheeped out on them because of that. Going to check out the ones in the store and see if they are back to normal or check out the other brand ones as well.
