Glad to know what I recently done is exactly how a real pro does it. Thanks for the tips as always and in this case the confirmation that I do some things right on my own first instead of learning later I should have done it differently.😂

I know you're a professional and I'm not trying to be a know it all or anything like that. I use rockit liner in the same way that you do for undercarriage or wheel wells etc. I have found that top coating the rockit with 2 coats of clear is the bees knees. Give it a shot sometime. I use like a Nason or Amtech cheap high solids clear and shoot 2-3 coats over the liner. Helps with cleanability and eliminates chemical streaking and UV fade down the line. The liner products like rockit and raptor are pretty susceptible to fade and chem streaks and they're a bitch to wash unless you can pressure wash em. The clear fixes all these issues and looks great too.

I think clean ability also depends on how it's sprayed. I personally like the "look" of a finer sprayed liner. However, spraying it heavier for a fatter peal cleans the easiest.

Another great video Travis. I've learned a lot from you and I appreciate all you do! Question....How long do you wait for epoxy primer to dry and what do you scuff it with before doing filler work on top of it?? Any help appreciated thanks
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS6 ай бұрын
I give it a day to dry on like a traditional epoxy like DP90lv then scuff that with 120 grit apply filler and begin panel to panel blocking. We have a very specific method we use in our classes.
@chevelleranch74816 ай бұрын
@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS Thanks Travis. I had a goofy experience with some DP74 and the filler not staying adhered. I know I let it dry for at least a week...scuffed with 80 and mixed 50 to 1 rage filler on a scale. A year after the top coat , it cracked in a few spots. Was not very thick either. When I chipped it off , the epoxy was dark red and looked wet. Just looking for some reassurance. Thanks for all your help

Why didn't you add your own weep holes to allow water/ road grit a means to escape ? I will doing such to my K20 rockers and A/B pillars..
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS6 ай бұрын
Weep hole to where? If it goes into the interior it will rust out the floor. Even if you did that it still gets clogged by debris and dirt then it stays wet and causes same issue.

Can you put raptor bedliner inside the floor panels of a Chevelle I was think of sanding some superficial rust of the floor panels then put etching primer and over that raptor bedliner and the sound mats once the bedliner cures ?
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS3 ай бұрын
You are better off using epoxy instead of etch and go over that with lizard skin
@JuanjoseMiguel-z9f3 ай бұрын
@@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS is that lizard coating the one they sell in a bucket? Can I apply the sound/heat mats over it ? Thanks for the reply , do you have classes to teach on things like these?

What’s your thought on lizard skin and sound control on the underside of the car topped with raptor liner? 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Do you think it would hold up well under a jeep CJ
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS6 ай бұрын
I don’t recommend it. Lizard skin is soft and way thicker. The raptor over it will crack it gets harder than the base material. I’d do lizard skin inside raptor on bottom

From my understanding you can add a body color to the raptor while mixing, is that correct?
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS6 ай бұрын
I know it can be tinted but I’m unsure of the specifics. I’d ask your local paint supply. We had one we tinted orange years ago. It came out pretty cool.

Response to the Bad Chad hockey tape fiasco? 😂.. Good info as usual.. Like you said its not sound deadening either, Chad should use butyl mass barrier in those tin cans he builds. The Vevor brand is the best value & sticks well just like kilmat, ect.

Great explanations and detail. One question…..that fine line and the 1 1/2” tape really sticks to the epoxied surface. What keeps it from pulling paint off when you pull the tape? Thanks
@jeremyr71476 ай бұрын
Proper preparation of the surface & cure time. If it pulls you did it wrong
@SYLVESTERSCUSTOMS6 ай бұрын
Thanks!! If your substrate is prepped correctly non of it should pull off no matter the tape. If it does something below was not correctly applied.
