John Adams by David McCullough. But only because I am reading it now. As for the rest of 2025, who knows? -James

An exciting and ambitious list! I love how the first 5 are absolute door stoppers! Liveships is perhaps my favourite trilogy of all time. The Faithful and the Fallen isn’t the Norse inspired series, that’s Bloodsworn Saga. However that series if my favourite of his and so I highly endorse it!

Agatha Christie’s books are such a delightful read. I believe they did a film about Bonhoeffer recently. Can’t wait to hear what you think of his biography.

Hi Ted. I’ve just discovered T. Kingfisher this year. She was introduced to me as a writer of sort of “cozy horror.” I love her! A great new find. Happy Holidays, Ted.

I'll be honest. When I first started Nettle & Bone, I wasn't sure...but it's definitely growing on me. I just love her simple prose. It's simple and yet it hooks you and just reminds me of classical fairy tales for a modern audience. :)

I love your sense of humour, great video intro, very clever. Ah, Robin Hobb: I definitely want to get to her next year, I'm really excited about it, & you have me very curious. Terry Prachett is brilliant, so slyly comic & startling in impact, really clever & very well written. I love Norse mythology & archaeology, I think you'll really enjoy that adventure. I rarely have lists, I'm very much a mood reader who just follows his nose, but I certainly want to get to Robin Hobb. Thanks for another fun & stimulating video, Ted - hope you've had a fabulous Christmas.

Great video! And a great group of books to read! I need to try and fit the Stormlight Archives on my the for 2025. I read the first John Gwynne book a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I read the gunslinger 5 or 6 years ago and I remember enjoying reading it. You seem to be more familiar with the fantasy genre than me so I may ask for some recommendations in the future lol. Happy New Years!
@TedReadInstead27 күн бұрын
Hey Austin (did I spell your name correctly? :) ) For fantasy, are you more interested in series or standalone books? If series, I would HIGHLY recommend The Farseer Trilogy (which is part of a larger Realm of the Elderlings series). Very character-driven and you'll love Robin Hobb's prose! I'm very much enjoying the Stormlight Archives, but gosh, they are pretty huge! If you would enjoy an Asian mafia feel to a trilogy but still has a pretty cool magic system - The Green Bone Saga. Loved it! Science fiction - you MUST read Project Hail Mary. I have a few videos on the Farseer Trilogy as well as Project Hail Mary. :) Happy 2025, my friend!

Fashion faux pas? Hey, it will only be the 26th! I know everyone talks about Boxing Day, but it's also the Feast of St. Stephen. Sigh. No one dons their Good King Wenceslas swag nowadays. 😜 Sounds like you have a lot of good stuff lined up for 2025. I don't think I've read that particular Bonhoeffer book, but it's tough to go wrong with the subject matter. And I read The Gunslinger way back in the day and enjoyed it because it was so weird. Apparently, King put out an edited version that "softens" the main character and brings certain details and stylistic choices more in line with the remainder of the series (I haven't read them all). To be fair, I haven't read the revised edition of The Gunslinger, but it almost sounds like King may have sanded down the rough edges that made it interesting -- at least to me. But in any case, I hope all your choices turn out to be good ones! Edit: My 2025 plans include "On the Nature of Things" by Lucretius, "The Idiot" by Fyodor Dostoevsky, and "The Waste Land" by T.S. Eliot. I don't plan very much. 😊
