When my Econamie Teacher got corrected by a smart Classmate, he said he would Fact Check it (Internet was very slow back than) and he apolagiest. He was proud and told us to never hold back.

In High School I had some wildcards. A Cuban refugee who fled on a raft at a young age, became a US citizen, and became a Spanish teacher. A Vietnam vet who was the walking stereotype of a soldier turned hippie, goatee and ponytail included. A Korean war draft dodger who was a roadie for so many bands, including Grateful Dead, CCR, and a number of others, while also having been a biker with a handlebar mustache.

So to follow up Nick’s story, and this might out me to someone local but whatever. I had a science teacher who knew I loved Star Wars. So much so he got me movie tickets to the premiere of Episode II and gave them to me in front of the whole class. Nothing ever seemed off to me. Fast forward to two years after I graduated and he has become a high school teacher. He was caught with an underage student related to someone I actually knew pretty well, and got a number of years in jail. Which looking back what I once perceived as good memories come off way more creepy.

I'm honestly very greatly that my first two years of community college I had some amazing teachers. Ironically my favorites being my communications and english teacher. So sorry you had to go through that, Nate. I think you would've been an awesome teacher ✌️

The worst teacher I ever had was during my first year of high school. For starters, he was my Home Room teacher, but he was also my science, math and society and environment teacher and, every term, one day of every week was double classes of all 3 of those subjects, so I'd literally be stuck with no other teacher but him the whole day every week. He has to this day the nickname The Drill Sargent because he treats students like their in a military academy, not a regular private high school. As I never returned for any reason after that first year, I don't know if he's improved, but, when I was there, he either had no understanding what a brain injury is or simply didn't care, because he treated me like I didn't have a disability at all. Now, while that makes it sound nice, that he treated me like any other normal student... I mean he treated me like my brain injury wasn't real, like I was pretending. Due to my disability, I struggled to learn things in school and to this day, unless they're explained in a very specific way. When he was teaching me, he didn't even try to help me understand, even when it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that I was clearly struggling to understand the concepts he'd explained to me. His way to help? Explain it to me again the exact same way I hadn't understood the first time and just expected me to understand that second time. Algebra in particular, was the most obvious sign I didn't understand what he'd been trying to teach. I never figured it out while he taught me. I'd be expected to answer questions like "If X equals Y, add D and subtract Q and that gets you...?" I would just stare with no clue what I was supposed to do, because I could never figure out what number each letter represented in the question. He NEVER helped me understand it, so I always had to work on the basis of what number each letter was from the alphabet and, big surprise, I was wrong every time because his idea of helping me understand where I went wrong was to shout at me in front of the class and insult my intelligence. Of course, since I have a brain injury, my temper would flare every time and I'd shout back so loud people on the other side of the school could hear us. The most obvious first red flag he had no understanding of me was the stupid reason he gave me for my first weekend detention. What sacred school rule had I broken to earn my very first weekend detention? I had the audacity to read a school library book in the school library. ... I'm going to repeat that for you. My first weekend detention was for reading a SCHOOL LIBRARY BOOK in THE SCHOOL LIBRARY! By the end of the year, my parents pulled me out because they realised that school wasn't going to help me at all. Granted, he was obviously nowhere near as bad as Becca's teacher in this story, since he never murdered anyone (I'd hope), but he certainly didn't leave me with a positive experience from my first year of high school and I feel bad for every child who has been his student in any sense since I left, especially since that school became coeducational since last year

At my highschool we had a senior hit on our gym teacher when she said no he destroyed the boys locker room by punching a hole through the white board ripping doors off lockers and dismantling the showers. He was 18 so he got charged so that was a thing my entire class got punished for.

At one point, I would have thought that getting certain certificates was important. So, I took a mail correspondence with Cleveland Institute of Electronics then got CompTIA certified. Then, listening to some videos with Louis Rossman about CompTIA being a scam because the tests they give for you to become CompTIA certified ask bogus questions that you'll never use in daily tech life and most companies don't even look at CompTIA to be a worthwhile certification anymore.

Honestly given how teaching is these days nate. Probably better you didn't end up being one. Im not about to claim to be an expert on the subject. But im pretty sure teachers have to conform with certain material they're forced to teach which is ultimately a bunch of junk and lies hidden amongst truthes. At least outside of that you can tell it how it is. How it actually is.
