Leave it to Pixar to figure out how to make the "awakened by true love's kiss" work. They're robots, so of course, if there's a discharge between them, that discharge could carry data as well. So, when Eve "kissed" him back, she returned that data to him; literally giving him that spark of life and uniqueness. Such a great movie. One of the best movies ever, period.

The reason why this is the only WALL-E still functional is because the others were destroyed by one of the planets dust storms. We see WALL-E afraid in the opening when the storm appears the destruction of the WALL-E units was part of why operation clean up failed. There was another reason as well basically the toxicity on the planet became too much the deleted scene explains it better but that's mainly why the BNL CEO gives the directive for the Auto-Pilots to continue the cruises
@mevb3 ай бұрын
WALL-E, M-O and most other robots were voiced by Ben Burtt, the legenendary sound effects guy who created the sound effects library for the six first episodes of Star Wars and the four first Indiana Jones movies, doing the sounds of R2-D2, Darth Vader's breathing, the blasters, the lightsabers, the walkers etc. He also did the sound effects for this movie and he was brought on early in production (which is atypical as you usually record and mix sound effects in post production, even on an animated movie) as WALL-E is dependable on sound effects being a "silent" movie. EVE is voiced by Pixar employee Elissa Knight who voiced Tia in Cars, through a vocoder.
@maddiebromen6068 Жыл бұрын
3:46 I know the real reason and it's arguably a lot more tragic than the "he's the only one that learned to self repair" theory others are giving. After the five years were up and BNL pulled the plug on clean up attempts, they remotely shut off all the WALL-Es, which is why they're all frozen mid-work. Somehow someway our WALL-E was missed. Which means that if the company hadn't given up it's entirely possible Earth would have become detoxified that much sooner. Our protagonist had to figure out how to exist all alone for nearly seven centuries because of a bureaucratic decision of what was "easiest". Honestly just another of the many gut-punches hidden throughout the lore. Also, given how much you enjoyed both this film and Rogue One, I cannot recommend 9 (2009) enough. Yet another movie that will have you tearing up over machines.

"You went off course? You can go off course?" Not a thing wrong with going off course, that's how you pave your own path. "Is Wall-E gonna like, make all of these robots unrobotic? Give them more free will?" He just helped them find their own personalities. Wall-E had such an impact on all robots and humans he came in contact with even with being alone for so very long. With our dependency on digital equipment, we have found out that when we "reset" or "reboot" something it tends to lose some previous memory. When we see that happen to Wall-E we instantly feared that it was all erased forever. All it takes is one little trace of it to find its way back. I never pass up watching Wall-E reactions because I want to see someone else fall in love with him!

One of my favorite science fiction movies ever made. It's pitch perfect, it's adorable, it has a cast that includes two members of sci fi royalty in WALL-E (voiced by Ben Burtt who made all the sound effects for R2-D2, lightsabers, TIE Fighters, and blasters in the original Star Wars) and Sigourney Weaver (Ripley from the Alien franchise, who voices the computer of the Axiom). I love the movie, the characters, the animation... It's amazing. I was spell bound when I saw it in theaters and realized just how good a movie they'd made when WALL-E doesn't act like himself after being repaired. I heard a kid's voice say into the silence of everyone watching him destroy his beloved possessions, "WALL-E died..." Somehow, Pixar made that idea crystal clear to a child, that even though this character is still there and moving around, who he was no longer exists... at least for a little while.

Fun fact, tear ducts (medically called Nasolacrimal ducts) don't produce tears. The tear ducts, the little pink spot in the corner of your eye closest to your nose is where the tears drain into your nasal cavity. Tears come from the lacrimal glands and they can vary the amount of tears they produce. If your eyes are irritated these glands will shift into overdrive in an attempt to flush out whatever is causing the problem. They can also go into overdrive when you experience strong emotions as a social signal to others. When this happens the tear ducts can't drain the tears fast enough to keep up with production and the excess fluid (it's not water) spills out of the eye and onto the cheeks (assuming you are upright). The tear ducts are usually still working fine when this happens, you just have more tears flowing in than can flow out. Your lacrimal glands can overproduce tears for medical problems (like when you look at your medical bills after an ER visit and you have no insurance) and your tear ducts can become blocked. If this happens you should see a doctor, even if you don't have medical insurance. Losing your eyesight can be a real pain in the neck.

Mike McMaster and Matt's Droids are both amazing Wall-E builders who've worked with Disney, definitely worth looking them up on Instagram. If I remember right Mike Senna also built one that was featured by Adam Savage's Tested on KZbin, it actually had an EVE holding hands with Wall-E while hovering in mid-air. Someone also built a MO robot but I can't remember exactly who it was. There's a Wall-E Builders Club which I recently joined, I've seen at least another dozen amazing builds around the world there. I'm definitely keen to do one of these builds soon but I'll probably have to scale it down, apparently a full sized Wall-E has trouble fitting through doors 😅 I can't wait to animate the eyes but I think the tank treads are going to be a headache. Should be worth it, everyone loves Wall-E! If you can find it, there was a show called "Pixar in Real Life" that Disney+ released, they featured Mike's Wall-E in at least one episode (you can even see him in the background briefly). Edit: It was Matt's Droids who built the MO robot.

Especially when it comes to _mechanoids._ Gender tends to be the norm among _organic_ living things, because it's the norm for organic living things (at least at the _macroscopic_ level) to reproduce _sexually._ Gender is _useful_ to us. Not to mechanoids. When mechanoids reproduce, it's by having more parts _built_ and _assembled._ This makes it kind of _tricky_ to conceptualize a mechanoid as either male or female.

This is my second favorite Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks animated movie (Just a hair under my favorite, "Megamind"). It will always be impressive to me that they managed to make such a sweet and heartfelt movie using a roach, robots that have very limited lines, and a bunch of formerly oblivious humans. It manages to tug at your heartstrings and care about all these characters with very little dialogue, and there's something to be said for that. My favorite part of this whole movie, though, will always be Wall-E putting a tread mark on Mo's face when they first meet. 🤣
