Trivia note: In 1994, the 4 guys in charge of Pixar got together for lunch & brainstormed ideas for other films they could make if Toy Story 1 was a success. During that lunch, they came up with the ideas for Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, & WALL-E. Well, WALL-E was the last of those 5 films made, 14 years after that lunch took place. Furthermore, 1 thing that I like about WALL-E that not enough people bring up is that if you isolate the parts with just WALL-E & EVE the story works, but if you isolate the parts with just the Captain & the humans the story also still works. It's 1 of the few Disney films that actually does a subplot that's just as interesting as the main plot.

Fun fact, Buzz Lightyear's batteries are made by the same fake company as is shown in Wall-e BNL (Buy n' Large) Also, in Cars 3, BNL is shown as one of the sponsors of the Piston Cup. BNL made the trash, the sold the trash, they tried created robots to clean up the trash, and they sent humans into space to get away from the trash. Their movies are connected through a shared universe, though across a massive time scale.

Saw an interesting video back in the day explaining the batteries are the energy captured from monsters Inc and when they switch to laughter it captured some of the human soul. Humans eventually discover monster and steal the same tech so toys come to life for toy story (also where you see sullys fur as a toilet seat cover) and when humans destroyed earth the cars became sentient in human absence, before they finally rusted out and died off 700 years later for wall-e

The sociological angle is good and all, but there's other themes at play. I like when the captain learns to love life instead of survival, just as Walle loved watching his movies and dancing and collecting. And what Walle loved most of all was sharing it with Eve, and loving her. The people learned to love life and especially to love sharing it with each other. The theme is curiosity and love and togetherness as the source of happiness and growth.

For me, Wall-E is probably my favorite Pixar film and consistantly brings me to tears (more happy tears). Things like Wall-E trying so hard to keep the plant detector open, the Captain breaking the mold by actually learning about their home planet, and how human the robots are. Also it is completely head-canon, but I feel like that spark is like a data transfer. Wall-E accidentally sent a copy of his personality over to EVE when they first "kiss" and she returned it later when he was reset.

That’s what I took from this movie - conservation and human interaction and welfare. Take of the planet, and take care of ourselves and each other. When Walle is broken and beaten up he tries to give her the plant still and Eve tosses it aside and holds up her hand ‘Directive’. That speaks volumes. Connection and human interaction is what’s important to survival and living. Yes of course WALL·E’s telling her get the plant in the thing and we can go home where spare parts can fix him, but that simple statement of needing human interaction and connection is a paramount need of human living.

I grew up with Pixar, but this film is one of my all-time favorites. This was one of the first Pixar films I got to go see in theaters, but as always I would later rewatch in the Latin Spanish dub. I'm not kidding when I say that this is one of the better love stories of all time. Folks can learn a pointer or two from WALL-E. 2:59 The late Fred Willard is the first actor to portray a live-action character in a Pixar film. It's been over four years since he passed away. There’s a lot of messages we can take from this film. This movie falls under the categories of science fiction and space opera, but this is what our world can become unless we take care of it. Some reactors who have seen this film during the pandemic got a better understanding of that. It puts a lot into perspective. What do you say? You wanna save the world? Of course we all do. There’s plenty of resources available online so we know how to do it.
