Price in Japan for this things translates to about $92. The extra $48 is the U.S. retailers making their cut. That explanation doesn't make things any easier on the consumers end though. I'm taking my chances and ordered one. I figure if I don't like it, I can probably sell it for more than I paid anyways lol There's always the Hiya as well. I also heard rumors that the beast glove is going to come with the Skar King and not with a separate Kong release. Man I hope not!
@kaijucanuck44927 ай бұрын
True, if you can find a good shipping rate on import, you can likely get it for below the NA price. Competition will be fierce, though! You probably could sell it down the line for a profit, I've been pretty lucky in that regard. I am familiar with where that rumor is being spread, but the screenshot was taken out of context and I've confirmed with the person who wrote it that he was just throwing ideas out there.

As someone who looks at P Bandai regularly for Gundam Model Kits (gunpla), I’ve seen a trend where back in the day, p Bandai was strictly color variants of already released kits, but more recently, some kits have been of completely new models that recycle few if any parts of standard releases. It feels like P Bandai has gone from re-colors to anything that they put out.
@ORLY9117 ай бұрын
big reason I think is COVID staggered a lot of releases and how busy the plant is for producing them with so many kits already, anything they think wont sell as well they do smaller runs of, so when that second plant opens and goes to work you might see a little bit less of uniquely tooled p-bandai kits. Normally I'd say its just they dont want non anime suits retail, but theres quite a bit of main story animated machines that arent retail now, and a pretty decent amount of manga only stuff that somehow becomes retail, but it seems to depend on the specific series (IBO's manga is mostly retail with a couple of exceptions, the entirety of G-witches manga stuff is p bandai) Sentinel used to be retail but since the MK-V MG its p bandai. It's perplexing.

Great video discussing this. I do remember that when GxK showed Evolved godzilla, the design was very divisive. Alot of people did not like the redesign, and I wonder if that response played a part in making it a pbandai. I actually have some confidence that the difference in quality between the two figures won’t be so extreme. Back a couple months ago when they revealed the (P)re-Evolved Godzilla, I held out on buying him because the paint job on the promos was looking pretty rough, even if I was looking to get one of the Hiyas of that design to replace my original GvK version. Just a couple months later and I’m glad I waited, because the paint on the finished product looks *vastly* better and more well rounded. Since Evolved was revealed at a similar time and photographed in the exact same setting, I get the feeling that a similar thing will happen with EvoGoji. I trust that the articulation will be almost as good as the SHMA too, Hiya’s done nothing but upgrade and upgrade their techniques with each design and even (P)re-Evolved seems to have tweaks for better articulation compared to the previous versions. I think they just put him in really boring poses for the previews.

I'm the type of person who shows no mercy with spending money on Godzilla figures but SH Evolved Goji got to be the most "exaggerated expensive" articulated figure ever. The price for a 6-inch figure is a lot. I'll just save money in the meantime, want to see the final product.

This bad boy put a dent in my wallet for sure, $250AUD ($160USD & $220CAD) from the ONLY australian retailer apparently willing to import Tamashii figures of any kind here. But, if i want more I gotta support local so I will, thanks Sugo Toys! Anyway, addressing the P-bandai side of things... Man i am starting to HATE P-bandai - When done correctly It works really well for it's intended purpose, that being to give fans something (A character, figure or model etc) that general consumers might not buy into. An obscure DBZ character or Gundam MS for example. But I can't help but feel like Bandai is intentionally spamming the P-Bandai button post covid. the general idea is: 1. Make less product in general, keeping production costs low. 2. Ship and deal exclusively in house keeping all the profits, without paying distributors and shop retailers 3. Slap on the premium sticker justifying the premium price and now 4. Put non popular AND popular (sometimes extremely popular and sought after) characters/designs on P-bandai and sell as an exclusive. Basically turning every figure into a chase. - Then Bandai sits back and watches the profits come in. What hurts now too is that P-bandai is actively blocking proxy's form purchasing. This is done to stop the artificial inflation of the japanese sales numbers, but for some collectors who don't have a regular distributor outside of Japan to pick these things up, proxy's were our only real option. There have been countless Gundam kits, DBZ, Ultraman, Godzilla characters/figures/collectables that could have easily EASILY been retail releases, like this very figure for example, but Bandai is spamming that P-bandai button. I mean out of the last 30 SHMA Godzilla releases, 20 have been P-bandai... Might have to start calling them Profit-Bandai
@TheMantaBluRay7 ай бұрын
SHMA one definitely looks better (more expressive sculpt, less excessive paint job, and of course more fluid articulation). BUT that price hurts. Not to mention as far as Monsterverse side goes Hiya has definitely prospered more and I reckon the vast majority will get the Hiya version anyway (especially being 1/3rd the price).
@gojifan79766 ай бұрын
I’m still getting it. I don’t care about price tag all I care about is how good figures looks. I like hiya but people are seriously over hyping the figure despite the figure being inaccurate.
@Noble_Duck8287 ай бұрын
The figure is retailing in Japan for $91 US Dollars on the Tamashi Webstore. You're extra $50 isn't for the figure itself. Likely shipping and mark ups to make a profit for western retailers. I got the SHMA pre-ordered. People should look more into buying directly from Japanese retailers and doing whatever shipping you're willing to spend on. You will always get the better deal that way.
@Ratzilla_917 ай бұрын
The main reason I prefer hiya Godzillas are mainly because of them being cheaper, but that they look like they came right of the movie and that they are very sturdy unlike SHMA which is either too loose or too tight and falls apart, plus hiya makes there Godzillas bigger and that’s what all Kaiju figures need to be so, but the evo SHMA Godzilla looks amazing just not for that price
@ORLY9117 ай бұрын
Best thing to do is wait for it to show up on the premium bandai store for your country/region. US/EU usually gets their orders up a week or two after Japan, so be on the look out, it'll probably be cheaper around the JP price (though youll still have to pay the 10 dollar shipping, or more depending on region). To be honest? Even 90 dollars is steep, 2019 goji was about 75 dollars and had a blast effect, so that's a huge markup for a similarly sized figure with less accessories.
@Carpetry7 ай бұрын
I cap out at 130, and that’s if it has some really good accessories if not at least 3. I don’t really think the alternate pair of hands are bringing enough to pay 140$ for. I definitely do think I would buy it if it was 120$ (maybe), but even if I think it looks better than Hiya, I’m not willing to put that much in for what’s basically just the figure. Only way I might even consider it is if it came with a beam effect part since we don’t get many of those nowadays, especially in pink.
@saulramirez88227 ай бұрын
I wouldn't mind Skar being priced the same as Evo Goji if it came with a fully possible whip slash and maybe the inclusion of the beast glove. Bandai has made figures in the past that come with accessories for pre-existing figures so I wouldn't see the harm with doing the same for monster arts. But we all know that would be highly unlikely and they would instead rather spit out a new Kong rerelease and make it pricey out the wazoo.

Honestly the SHMA so far looks a lot better than the Hiya, and as somebody who does stop motion I love figures with a lot of articulation-but the Hiya figure is half the price, not entirely accurate but still very good looking, and has enough articulation for my tastes, it’s an easy choice for me! Sorry SHMA, but those price tags are scaaarryy.
@gojiman1727 ай бұрын
I seem to glance over the fact that I pay too much for figures, and it’s partially due to buying imported shma instead of waiting for the US release. I payed $148 shipped for imported evolved goji which was more than I expected, but at least it ships a couple months early.

I have pre-ordered both HIYA and SHMA simply because the SHMA Godzilla scales better with the SHMA Kong and the HIYA Godzilla Scales better with the Hiya Kong. Would I pay "Premium" price for SHMA's Beast Glove Kong? ONLY if they have replaced those God awful head sculpts they keep using. I have literally replaced all of my current SHMA Kong head sculpts with Kujira Designs' Ape King sculpts which are screen accurate or the closest to screen accurate. I do have a feeling that the new SHMA Beast Glove Kong will have a new sculpt. Fingers crossed. Thank you for taking the time to make your great and objective videos! I would much prefer to pay $120 - $130 for a good screen accurate Kong than to keep paying $75/$80 for the same repainted Kong. One and done. $130? I am used to dropping $300 - $450 for one Hot Toys figure (which I am transitioning out of) Cheers! I am just thrilled about SHMA's and Hiya's latest announcements. Currently I was purchasing SHMA for articulation and HIYA for screen accuracy. Both are looking good now, so I believe SHMA will sill have better articulation for Godzilla and Kong, so we will see what kind of Beast Glove Kong Hiya will offer. Cheers!

I'm getting the SHMA because it looks that much better than the Hiya, but releasing it as a P-Bandai exclusive unnecessarily drove up the price by making it a more limited figure. I understand why the Mothra & Rodan KOTM set was a P-bandai release, because they are smaller side character that may not have sold as well as Ghidorah and Goji, I even understand why Mechagodzilla (2021) was a P-Bandai release because of its use of diecast. I do not understand why the Godzilla, from what is likely to be the most financially successful Godzilla film ever made is locked behind a P-Bandai release. I know that most outlets were saying the movie was going to be a flop before it came out, but the toy sales for the MV have always been very strong. There is no excuse to lock Evolved Goji behind a P-Bandai Release with a P-Bandai price tag.

I am interested in picking up SHMA Kong, but not the B.E.A.S.T. glove one. I know evolved Goji gave us big hopes, but considering gloved monke is supposed to be the same monke as the axe one... SHMA might just gave the glove on the 24' monke. It'll be a bigger asshole move if they include everything in the PB ver., like getting both gloved and non-gloved arm, as well as the axe, and this time actually reused the SDCC mold that got the sculpted scars. I personally rather wait for the 24' to get into clearance and get that one. I kinda see SHMA's Kong as another great ape species, as their roaring head (the one I always display my kaiju in) isn't THE Kong to me, so I don't need dem glove. It's reserved for Hiya. I'm not a Tamashii insider like Mike, so all I'm saying are just purely my speculation, take it with a bag of salt. My buddy and I sometimes would discuss why some Bandai products ended up as a web exclusive. There are some possibilities, but mainly it's probably cuz it's not that popular, however there's still a considerable number who wanted it in the market. Had they made it a reg release, they might be afraid with the data they've gathered it wouldn't sell well, at least in Japan. That was the whole reason behind why PB issa thing, I would assume. So that less favorable figures could still be made without much risk to the manufacturer. Unlike Hiya that plugged the possible hole from other source of profits, SHMA prefers a safer made-by-order. Following this up is probably Japan's plastic waste policy. IIRC it began around 2019 or so, the same year most gunplas ended up as a web exclusive and barely any mass-produced stuff. I kinda wonder if some products didn't performed as well as they expected, and those things never got sold out, ended up contributing to the amount of plastic waste from Bandai. This would make sense why they would choose to a made-by-order models, as to waste plastic exactly the amount that would sell. Another possibility is, as you said, a rerelease with more accessories or extras that adds the price. For example, the M.O.G.U.E.R.A. one, most ppl, including me, wouldn't care for the dock. We prefer to display the kaijus in action, not docked, and yet it'll boost both the price and shipping cost. So Bandai turned it into a made-by-order model to not overproduce something that would cost more to make, while able to still sell a supposedly one-time use model with just a little effort. SCV also being web exclusive probably due to the price for such a paintjob would be considered too much for a general market release, so they only targets ppl who would truly pay the expensive pricetag. I personally dunno why do they put evolved straight to web exclusive, as supposed to the usual model of making the heat ray exclusive while the default is reg. I would assume, despite the overwhelming box office and how unexpectedly popular it is worldwide, maybe the Japanese market in particular, don't care about it that much. Along with one of the possible reason stated, they decided, nah if the Jp bros didn't want it that much, it ain't worth it. I am bumped out with the price of Iris ngl. Her size, actual body size itself is small. Probably almost normal SHF size. I agree with Steven, that the whole wing thing should be a seperate release. I know ppl want accessories and recreate stuff, but usually what we want wouldn't jacked up the price by soo much. Cuz of that stupid wing, they need to sculpt, print and paint it, adding production cost. They also need to make a specific base for it, and it's huge with a lot of parts for the arms, also adding the production cost. And for shipping, the darn wings and stand probably doubled the box volume, if not slightly more. All this is like the Infinity Stones gathered to make one overpriced gauntlet of a product. If it's a beam, it wouldn't add the price by suuper much, and like Hiya, wouldn't effect the packaging volume at all. And yeah, I've seen folks who, were like me, wanted an Iris figure, but the price issa huge turn off. Some would even wait for Hiya to make it, as currently unperceivable as it is.

His head is looking at the ground and that tells me this figure cannot look up like the 2019 mold. The hiya can look up but not to the same degree that the SHMA 2019 mold, but from what i see in the promotions Hiya's figure can look up a hell of a lot better than what i'm seeing with Monsterarts Godzilla Evolved. If Skar King is a bandai premium and goes for more than what Kong costs then i'm skipping it. I'll be just about done with Monsterverse Monsterarts figures then.
