Nope. Cause it's not a accurate betrayal of what it has always meant to be, a Horror. HELLBOY was never meant to be super hero comic it's a horror comic. The Crooked Man is my all time Hellboy story. Alot of characters like Tom, Effie, the blind reverand and the title characters look ripped straight from Richard Corben's illustrations. Plus it looks like its leaning into more of Hellboy's horror aspects. Very much excited for it, keeping my fingers cross its as good as the trailer

Y'all do realize that HELLBOY was always horror in the comics? They changed the narrative in the movies to make him more of a superhero. He isn't, he is a paranormal detective that happens to be the Prince of Darkness. Again, the "horror aspect" has always been the main part of the HELLBOY comics.

The problem with the Hellboy movies at this point is that they are straight up suffering from severe Mexican director syndrome. MDS is defined when a Mexican director puts a piece of their soul in an IP, and then the second they're not around, no future director is really able to effectively replicate the attention to detail and quality that the initial Mexican product had in spades. It's a thing that's unfortunately affected tons of IPs at this point including but not limited to The Harry Potter series, Pacific Rim, the live-action Pinnochio movies, and for the purposes of this video, the Hellboy series. We'll see if this movie can overcome that, but I don't think the prognosis is great.
