My Thoughts On Over Paneling for Off Grid

What do you prefer, over paneling or having extra battery? I imagine there's a line in the sand that's always moving on which is more efficient.

Powmr all in ones have it going on with the high voltage solar input. They have good active cooling also. Just the 60 amp grid charger function alone is worth the price of admission. With solar and my generator the 5000 watt Powmr all in one will pump out 4kw into my battery pack, while running my house through bypass.

Victron can take it , check their forums for what you can get away with . They don't like over voltage at all but over wattage is fine . 30% at least if I remember correctly .

I agree. I am constantly annoyed by the various limitations on the cheaper charge controllers.

I just bought my 3rd victron and Im worried about smoking them with to much solar but I know it takes a ton of solar to make it thru bad days even with a huge battery

I've always wondered why boost/buck converters aren't used more. MPPT will handle 425V @ 26A = 11kw, but you can't run panels in series to get even close to 400v because you'll go over the amp rating. I want the voltage dammit, it means smaller, cheaper wiring that will go a longer distance.

That amp rating is input at the mppt. It’ll be much higher output to the battery.

What about 3 eg4 3000 ehs 48v inverters? Would that give you a split phase with a total of 15000 pv watts capable? Can just 3 of these be hooked together or do you have to always go up by adding 2 inverters at a time? Would 3- 3000 watt inverters be more capable of a better use of the solar curve at peak time than 2 inverters that are eg 4 6500es 48v? Maybe charge the batteries better and at a faster rate? I have 27 bifacial 460/575 gain blue sun pvs. Maybe add about 10 more of those pv panels? Thanks.

No, never wondered that. Because the mppt doesn't know and looking at recommend is completely unrelated. Thats why you could plug a 60v battery that can deliver 1000amp into it and nothing special will happend. It will just charge as normally as it have done for years.
