Good talk I am sure most landscapers in my area don’t even think about some of the costing it’s normally the small things that catches me out such as consumables {screws silicone add mix} surprising what it all adds up to

Hey john thanks for the video, ive messed up on jobs a few times when ive forgot to allow for things like sbr slurry, one thing that gets forgotten in the trade is delays with payment, or customers trying to knock the end payment, advice on this would be great, in 14 years ive been knocked once and it impacted me massively mentally and financially never see any information on this, i think your a very knowledgeable man and your advice on this will go far

That's a good point and one I will cover in a future video. Contracts, terms and payment plans before work starts are so important...most of us aren't running global businesses, we need the cash flow to pay the bills and it's a delicate balancing act. Get one bump in the road and it could ruin you.

@PavedinStoneLtd be a good one to cover and I'm sure that one will get a lot of views

Good video. I would say also say that having flexibility and being your own boss is worth a lot . Id actually rather earn less but have control over a working day etc than perhaps earn more but have no freedom on the day, working hours etc. Its much easier to turn up to work you enyoy.

@@mrt4145 like everything else in life, if you can get the balance right it can be a very rewarding lifestyle.... money isn't everything

How many landscapers are working 10 hours per day? 7 hours a day at minimum wage would be £80.
@PavedinStoneLtd8 ай бұрын
Probably not too many, but does that impact what we should be charging per day do you think?
@J1M1F8 ай бұрын
@@PavedinStoneLtd it doesn’t, but you can’t then use £110 per day as a yard stick for minimum wage, that’s disingenuous.

I'm not sure I follow. The example of what ppl can earn in a relatively unskilled entry level job isn't disingenuous at all. Now take into account the job of a landscaper, often heavy lifting without mechanical assistance, outside in all weathers, knowledge of ground conditions, knowledge of various products and installation methods, project monitoring, surveys, quotes, contracts, CDM....the list goes on
