Why is it 219 years after the apocalypse does L.A still underdeveloped and destroyed and one of the biggest factions the NCR just reduced to rubble just so Bethesda can just keep the wasteland a wasteland. What I want to ask Bethesda is does the wasteland always have to stay a wasteland? Should there just be no progression no matter how far in the time line we go should wastelands continue to scavenge old buildings for resources? Should there still be no established nations or sense of stability?

I'm so glad that not everyone is just blindly worshipping Bethesda and some people actually care about Fallout enough to see how it gets completely stomped into the ground in terms of quality. I absolutely hate what they did to the BOS, Ghouls, NCR etc. I'm so sick of seemingly being the only one in my circles that cares about consistency (apart from the consistency of the Lore getting shot into the Sun) I watched the show with some friends in Discord and everyone but me loved it. Its come so far that I come across as an pedantic elitist to them for pointing out all the flaws and I'm sick of it. Duck you Bethesda I wish almost anyone else but you got the IP. Really looking forward to the review. It always feels so vindicating to hear from people whose standard scale isn't stuck on freezing temperature.

The mentioning of Clerics for the BoS was very... strange. Are they religious zealots now and not tech-phile puritanical extremists anymore? They can't even keep their own lore-change logic intact for ghouls... cuz kid in the fridge surviving 200 years inside said fridge as a ghoul. But then instead it is a hibernating metabolism instead or some such? And I guess the NCR have no contingency plans for 'what if the leadership is gone?' like they are Caesar's Legion instead of, well, a democracy with a chain of command and a line of succession. I will say tho, that the show ain't as horrid as, say, Halo or Rings of Power... but just playing Fallout 4 to 'learn the lore' is nowhere near enough. especially since we are talking WESTCOAST and not eastcoast.

The moment I saw a West-coast birthday party happen and the bombs DROPPING during it as well... I was going 'wait what?' cuz the bombs dropped around, what was it, 9am in the morning on the east coast.... but it's the westcoast, so it should be more like 6 or 7am at most! We have an active birthday party going on at that time in the morning!? The nukes exploding is... well, that is not nukes, it's tire-fire explosions at most with how dirty-smokey they are and just dull orange rather than BLINDINGLY INTENSE FLASHES that would burn retinas like a micro-sun coming into being for a split-second before exploding. And origin for vaultboy is a cowboy bithday-party entertainer? ponyrides and all? Why? That stuff just instantly soured it for me and made me very observant for various other issues... like the 'before leaving vault' shot at the vault entrance... it looks SO BAD.

Old gamer here, played all pc fallout games, loved the show. Especially liked how the vaulters lived in total sheltered little bubbles. Sure there were some stuff that werent totally lorefriendly, but that didnt stop it from being really enjoyable and fun to watch. The Ghoul ftw.

I haven't watched the show, but after everything I have seen about it on the internet I can confidently say that I probably won't watch it at all. From what it sounds like the show was made for the sole purpose of retconning all of the good lore of Fallout simply because of Bethesda's envy. And in doing so turned the west coast (best coast) into just another one of Bethesda's looter shooters set in a 1950s flavored nucelar apocalypse with naked gun style humor. Which none of that is appealing to me as an OG fallout fan.

Really bad fanfic written by really bad writers. Kevlar no longer stops bullets. Power armor is now just the iron man suit with a retexture. Guns have no recoil. Lucy's vault, that never had contact with the outside, has pipe weapons. The bombs dropped at 6:42 am on the West Coast and the ghoul started his daughter's birthday party at 6 am, because, of course you do that. The BoS just promotes squires in boot camp to Knight so they can have power armor. Etc. Etc.

This show was fire, actually very very fire. It is actually embarrasing for us in the fallout community to have people like you nitpicking everything. Firstly, no New Vegas wasn't retconned. The cannonical ending that is used in the show is just were House "won" or rather succeded, if you don't like that then thats your problem. Secondly, whilst I do get some of the critisism, and do have some of myself: Particularly that Maximus wierdly de-matured the longer the show ran, like that "Do you want to have Sex" question in Vault 4 came so outa the blue that i first thought the deal with this Vautl was that VaultTec released some kind of "Harmonizing Gas" that made them all like eachother or atleast strengthend positiv feelings for one another. But that isn't my point. My point is that the Fallout TV series was with the Last of Us series one of if not the best Game to Show adaptation we have and this is the typical "entiteled" fan that lets just say probably grew up with the older games, and has the "THE NEW BETHESDA GAMES ARE ALL TRASH CAUSE I LOOKED AT THEM ONCE AT RELEASED AND THEN NEVER AGAIN, AND FUCK THE STORY TOO CAUSE I CAN'T HAVE MY NEARLY 30 YEAR OLD FRANCHISE CHANGE!!!" mindset. And this is coming from someone who hasn't played Fallout 1 & 2 (though knows the lore of the games) and was first introduced to the series through Fallout 3. Like if Bethesda didn't say that the show was canon to the games then that'd get rid of maybe a third of the complaints I've seen online (which is one complaint I have with show too). I've only seen Episode 1 so far (as well as a a few trailers and that preview they showed off) so I don't know if it's gonna get better or worse but from what I'm seeing online... sadly not good.

I'm really confused, I hear in the vid and read in the comments "finally, someones saying it", as if loads of people haven't been saying all this since the show aired; YT, twitter and reddit have all got a significant section of people raising the issues with the show. Having said that, as someone who's played Fallout since '98 or '99, loves FO1, 2 and NV more than the Bathesda versions, I still enjoyed the show. I didn't go in expecting a great representation of the basics of the universe/setting/tone, let alone solid lore accuracy, so I was actually surprised by what we got. It feels Fall-outy, and no, I don't just mean pointing at the screen saying "oooh look, a bobblehead". It's flawed, both from a narrative and lore perspetive, but still enjoyable.

Well, it depends on where you look. If you tend to be in social media circles that are more prone to criticize bethesda's fallout, then that's more of what you'll see. There are many people, youtubers included, praising or defending the show and ignoring a lot of the criticism, if you're not in those circles, then you're much less likely to see it.

If you said what is true, then my best guess why people like it, down to three reasons. One, lack of time to process what's new, two, cult like fans of Bethesda and amazon, like people who like The Boys and Starfield, and three, it's not pc woke so it's automatically good. Regardless of the reasons, in all honesty, I'm not entirely sure on fallout show myself, as I already am tired of the cynicism and this Bastardisation on western culture, so even if the show is good, I'm still passing it. Just because they say no retcons does not mean retcons did not happen. The Show literally retcons the plots of Fallout 1 and New Vegas the Most. With the new vaults in the show we see and their locations cannot be compatible with fallout one without tons of massive leaps in logic, doublethink, and everyone being idiots. The Master would have cracked vaults 31,32 and 33 open sense they are on his home turf and easy to find or been found by wastelanders before,. He just needs to find one and he gets all 3 because if the Vaults stay closed and Fight the master will find the tunnels connecting them and just need to triangulate the radius that the other 2 entrances are at, if the vault residents flee well a bunch of Vault dwellers fleeing from two vaults is pretty noticeable and the Master's army can scoop them up easily. Vault 4, using Occam's Razor I assume vault 4 is close to Shady sands like really close. The entrance is on flat ground and easy to find and since Shady sands is just grass pre war it would have been found and marked on maps by many wastelanders and after shady sands is found it is easier to find since traders, and travelers and raiders would be passing by and definitely find it and word of this would reach the Master and even if he does not know the exact location his forces of the children of the Cathedral would find it in a few days or a couple weeks. If Shady Sands is in LA then the First 2 Fallout games have been retconned because the stories cannot literally happen if that is the case. New Vegas the implications of nothing in that game mattering now, and the date crap(I know shady sands was not nuked in 2277, the whole fall thing, and first capitial and the state of the NCR make no sense and it being nuked means it would not have had a devastating effect on the NCR, as it would have if it was the capital. Also No endings make sense, No mention of the legion so no legion ending, The NCR would get their crap together after both a house and Yes man ending, also House would never have let the NCR be nuked or weakened because he needs them to use for his plans. No mention of the NCR winning the second battle of Hoover Dam, or victoires over the legion, and the Mojave becoming part of the NCR, so their ending cannot be compatible.

How the factions were not perfectly represented? What are you on? Like the NCR was perfectly represented as being homicidal people trying to do what they think is right, the BoS being a genocidal and xenophobic gang of traitors and the enclave being full of good people but oppressed by the military hierarchy. No to say how perfectly represented the vault dwellers were, all living in perfect harmony and ignorant about the world on the surface.

I didn't want to elaborate on any topics due to spoilers I want to save for my review. But since it bothered you, I'll say that in terms of factions/people not behaving how they should, I was referring to the citizens of vault 33, the NCR refugees, the BoS elder in the last episode (given the context), and House. I'll elaborate more when i review the actual show, since i understand that it may not be clear here.

apparently neither does the show, when the bombs seem to fall on the westcoast mid-birthday party... when the bombs fell at around 9-something am on the eastcoast, and some lore states it was 2:47 am on the westcoast, or if falling at around the same timeframe, it'd be at around 6-something am cuz westcoast is 3 hours behind of eastcoast. Thusly we have a birthday party going on either in the middle of the night in bright daylight, or it's going on early morning... in bright daylight. That's just ONE issue during the very first moments of the show of episode 1.
